GOP Candidates Invited To Attend YouTube Debate

26 Jul 2007 05:49 pm

The Republicans take their turn answering unpredictable YouTube questions on September 17 in St. Petersburg, FL. When the the debate was announced by the state party, CNN and YouTube last Friday, Sen. John McCain immediately RSVP'd. Since then, silence from the other campaigns.

Mitt Romney didn't like some of the more frivolous trappings and told the New Hampshire Union Leader that "I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a snowman."

Several campaigns report receiving a formal invitation today.

So these clowns are gonna back out after the Democrats already did theirs? Who does Mitt think he is?

Mitt's such a tool, he's just worried that questions posed my average joes won't let him say things like "Gosh, I love America!"

the most popular republican on youtube is Ron Paul.

Both Rudy and Moromoney are cowards. If they can't take on and answer simple questions from oridinary citizens how can they take on terrorists? They love to run away from battlefield and are pu**ies. No wonder both are chickenhawks!

Rudy: “unspecified scheduling conflicts.”

That means Rudy is making money on that day by exploiting 9/11 and earning 1 million for that. What do you expect from the leader who likes to be in Drag?

Romney: “isn’t sure yet whether he’ll participate…but he’s no fan of the format.”

Romney today: I am not participating, I hate the format.
Romney tomorrow: I love the formt and I am participating.

Republicans are cry babies.

If they can't face Youtube how can they defeat the terrorists?

Romney and Rudy are joke and living in their own Bushie bubble. They are in denial.

Considering that Mormons believe in magical underwear, Romney has some nerve dismissing talking snowmen.

Apparently, Mr. Romney needs to be reminded that no ''snowman'' asked any of the questions during the democrats' YouTube debate - all of the questions came from Americans.

Romney's statement, in order to have been accurate, should NOT have been, "I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a snowman," but, rather, "I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a American."

Mitt Romney was just on CSPAN moments ago and took a YouTube question, along with a plethora of telephone calls in CSPAN's standard format of Republican, Democrat and Independent phone lines.

He also said, due to his schedule, he is unable to attend the CNN/YouTube debate in Sept.

It's interesting, reading all the puffery today about how Mitt is some how afraid of YouTube and then I turn on CSPAN and there he is answering a YouTube question...NICE!

Classic....from a class guy!

@ sheryl

What puffery? Romney as well as Giuliani have gone on the record against the populism that the youtube debate entails. "Oh, how dare the schmucks be able to speak to us directly." These guys have really shown their hand here. There are moderators filtering out the absurd questions, but Romney & Giuliani (especially Giuliani) know that they will get torn to shreds if they leave the safe confines of a more traditional debate.

The bottom line is this:

Romney & Giuliani: Anytime they open their mouth it is a potential liability, so the strategy (much like Clinton's) is to just shut up ride the wave of the Media who are already telling you who to vote for.

McCain: Who cares what he says, he can't dig himself any deeper.

Ron Paul: He wins hearts & minds any time he opens his mouth, so he want's any exposure he can get. And his demeanor is perfectly suited for tough questions.

"What puffery?"

The YouTube puffery, as if this communication tool has some how re-invented the wheel. And if someone challenges it, they are somehow unsophisticated and not hip. Actually Romney was only challenging the etiquette displayed not the actual tool.

Anyway, YouTube has just put a face to the questions (and added some video production) to a format CSPAN has been doing for years; taking questions from voters to the politicans.

Plus, YouTube & CNN used filters. There were some 3,000 questions posted and 39 were asked. Someone was filtering.

Romney was on CSPAN live for 90 minutes yesterday taking telephone questions.I hardly think that because only the voice was presented that somehow makes the questions less valuable.

This YouTube fascination reminds me, back in the day, when all the guys were fawning over their eight-track players!!!

Ok, "Frosty"....First, do some homework before opening your right-wing mouth and exposing your stupidity. Mormons don't have "magic underwear".

Mormons do hold that folks should be more respectful of one's body, as it is a gift from god. As such, one shouldn't be as tempted to engage in potentially immoral acts (hence the underwear that limits the likelyhood of contact or stimulation for 'non procreation').

So, here's an idea: put down your predisposed anger and hatred and try to learn a thing or two before you post your less than informed views.
