Weirdness: all the presidential candidates are in Iowa, but the press/staffer scrum here in Iowa can't stop talking about

(a) Al Gore's son

(b) John Edwards's hair. The Washington Post had their chief investigative reporter spend dozens of person hours on... hair. Edwards's frilly, frothy, luxurious hair.

Every candidate is going to get attacked over some perceived character trait.

I'll live with getting attacked over hair.

Mark, I've been reading your reports from Iowa, because I've heard that you're a blogger worth reading, but so far you've yet to discuss Obama's position on a single issue. (I assume he's discussing policy in these speeches? His "universal" health care plan, for example, the one that would leave 15 million people uninsured.) Easy to blast the scrum for talking about JRE's hair or Al Gore's son, but all you seem capable of talking about is silly horserace gossipy stuff.

What gives?

The John Solomon piece in the Post is a disgrace to the Post and to the political journalism profession generally. That article belongs in US Weekly, not the venerable WaPo.
