Marc Ambinder reports Rudy Giuliani probably will not attend the Republican version of the CNN/YouTube debate. "Scheduling conflicts," apparently, is the reason really stupid excuse. Mitt Romney hasn't said anything so final, but doesn't like the idea ... [Read More]

Now, I was not a big fan of the CNN/YouTube debate. I largely agree with the criticism that CNN used their editorial ability to pick questions that they couldn’t ask as reporters. That said, I was struck by something this morning. Somehow this se... [Read More]

What is Rudy scared of? This will further sink the Republican party if most of the top tier bow out. I wonder what CNN will say if they do? Will they go negative on Rudy and Mitt?

Apparently, Romney isn't crazy about this either.

These guys are cowards. They are afraid because it's not a controlled environment and they will probably embarrass themselves.

The questions selected by CNN for the Democratic YouTube debate were overwhelmingly from left leaning persons. Unfortunately, CNN will most likely also select questions from left wingers for the GOP debate instead of from persons who will actually vote in a GOP primary.

"unspecified scheduling conflicts"

As in we haven't scheduled an event to conflict with the debate yet, but we will.

If were a Republican candidate, I'd be more afraid of the questions from the extreme right-wing of the party. Independents already view Republicans as too conservative and if they get trapped on question between pleasing the base or appearing intelligent, I'm afraid intelligent will lose.

Both Rudy and Moromoney are cowards. If they can't take on and answer simple questions from oridinary citizens how can they take on terrorists? They love to run away from battlefield and are pu**ies. No wonder both are chickenhawks!

Rudy: “unspecified scheduling conflicts.”

That means Rudy is making money on that day by exploiting 9/11 and earning 1 million for that. What do you expect from the leader who likes to be in Drag?

Romney: “isn’t sure yet whether he’ll participate…but he’s no fan of the format.”

Romney today: I am not participating, I hate the format.
Romney tomorrow: I love the formt and I am participating.

"These guys are cowards. They are afraid because it's not a controlled environment and they will probably embarrass themselves."

Do you consider the Democrats pulling out of the Fox News debate to be cowards as well? Or, is that acceptable because there "is no real news on Faux News"... Curious minds want to know. (Or, maybe you really do think that the tough questions posed by snowmen and activists faking southern accents are worthy of Presidential politics?

Its too bad that these two Republicans are dropping from the debate, just like ALL the Dems did from the FoxNews/CBC debate. Of couse, I didn't hear all you bleeding p*ssies wine about how the Dems were cowards then, did I? Candidates should just go to the debates and if you get B.S. questions, then call them out as such.

Ah...moral equivalence.

Rudy and Mitt are quite aware that RON PAUL is the only candidate who actually KNOWS enough about the issues to effectively answer a wide range of surprise questions on an unrehearsed basis. They are terrified that PAUL will kill them in this format.

Rudy and Mitt don't want to participate in this style of debate forum are because they both know it will only hurt them.

Rudy has some major anger management problems and any question about his personal character, would set him off. Ask anyone he’s worked with in New York. As for Mitt, we can see he'll say anything to get elected. And his handlers won’t want this to happen.

These two politicians are pathetic!

Republicans are cry babies.

If they can't face Youtube how can they defeat the terrorists?

Romney and Rudy are joke and living in their own Bushie bubble. They are in denial.

For Rudy, he is a fake and he won't be exploit 9/11 if a citizen asks him a smart question.

For Romney, he is just a pretty boy empty suite. Just imagine how often he will flipflop if someone asks him an unexpected question. He only knows the stuff that his handlers told him that morning. This guy who spends $300 on makeup does not have any convictions.

BTW, there is huge difference between Fox debate and YouTube debate. Fox is the wing of republican party (American Pravada) while YouTube is people driven media. Get some brains republicans!

Nice foul mouth you have there smelly. I ain't bleeding for you none. The difference is stark and straightforward. The Republicans are afraid of the American People. They are afraid of receiving unusual unfiltered unmediated questions. And they are extra afraid that one of their crazy wingnut supporters will get on TV and ask a question that embarasses the whole republican party in front of the american public.

The Democrats stopped going to Fox because they gpt sick and tired of having their words manipulated in the editing room and having their mikes cut mid sentence. They are tired of the hands on manipulation to make them look bad constantly. They want fox out of the way so they can speak directly to the american people.

In both cases, the democrats are in favor of clarity and directness and the republicans are in favor of mediation and spin. Sad but True.

I don't kn how the Demo not wanting a debate on CNN is anything like just two people dropping out of the U Tube. I saw Romney on C Span and he thinks its not dinified, well excuse me, we are the people (some of us are not as smooth as others,) but how dare you. I guess when you ha $ you think you should not be subject to common people, even if you are running for the office that is suppose to represent all of us

This is probably what they're thinking...
1. McCain got some cojones to go alone with RP
2. The event might be cancelled if not enough participants...?
