AMES: Results Delayed An Hour And Counting..

11 Aug 2007 08:44 pm

AMES -- The Atlantic's Joshua Green tells me that the Romney high command is currently huddled around campaign counsel Ben Ginsberg, one of the nation's preeminent election lawyers. Perhaps Mr. Ginsberg is telling a joke, or perhaps he is explaining to them the reason for the delay, as best as he can gather.

The candidates are all Reptilian humanoids. This delay is just part of their plot.

Marc--what's the mood? The expressions on their faces?

Grim?

"Ben.... what are our options?"

"Mr. Romney.... I've got people delivering a request for injunction. We won't let this thing out if I have anything to do about it."

"Dammmit, Ben, I spent too much damned money to let that pipsqueak beat me. You better fix this."

Hehehehe.... to be a fly on the wall.

This has the ghost of Woodrow Wilson all over it. It's a conspiracy!!!

So, when are we looking at getting the first numbers?

Ginsberg is breaking the news to Romney that he lost cause he doesn't know nothing bout birthin no babies... unlike Ron Paul.

the failure of these machines COULD be a HUGE blessing! It could finally give the public a dose of reality to their reliability. Who in the world would think that using a hackable computer would be a good idea for casting votes anyway!!!!

Even intellectually honest Romneyphiles have to admit that this is getting weird.

"Perhaps Mr. Ginsberg is telling a joke..."

I think the joke is the 2007 Iowa Ames Straw Poll.

oh boy...i hope this ends well.

This is some serious bullshit.

Have fun "counting" the votes ladies.

Ron Paul won and will shock the world! ;-)

They're not "hackable computers" - and there's a paper trail. They used paper fill-in-the-circle ballots with optical scanners. If all else fails they can go back and count the paper ballots by hand.

The live-blogging is interesting, but this sort of thing lends itself to conspiracy theories because so few details are actually included. Guys - it is easy to make a mountain out of a molehill. "Omigod, they're huddled!"

Yes, don't be fooled by the hordes and hordes of yellow shirted Romney supporters. If anyone had anything to do with vote fraud, it must be Romney? What other explanation could there be? Patriotic Paul backers can be accused of nothing more than fraudulantly voting with borrowed Iowa drivers licenses. That obviously would have nothing to do with this. How are the "clearheaded" "realistic" people going to spin this, that Ron Paul's computer hacker base somehow attempted something with the machines? I think its far more likely that Romney needed to cheat, I mean after all, the man holds very little support in Iowa compared to Ron Paul.

I wasn't trying to imply a conspiracy. But when it takes 1+ hour to recount 4,500 votes (via machine I assume) there has to be more to the story than we are being told.

I'd love to know what that something is.

Check out what I just found at the IRP's website:
"VOTING AT THE IOWA STRAW POLL:
FRAUD-PROOF, HONEST & SECURE"

Justin: If all else fails they can go back and count the paper ballots by hand.

Which is exactly what Ron Paul supporters tried to ensure in advance, and which the organizers of the straw poll refused to allow in the first place.

So yes, just counting the ballots by hand would settle everything with no doubts, but they aren't going to let that happen.

I'm very angry. Not about the paper ballot issue, but because I just sat through an hour of that inane, illegal-loving Geraldo Rivera's show as Fox News promised over and over again that results were coming.

I had to sit through "breast enhancement" and "real-life superhero" segments, no less. What schlock!

What was worse, poor Ann Coulter was on the set, sitting next to Geraldo the whole time trying desperately not to punch him in the face. Classic.

To the counters: Hurry up, people. The reputation of this event is on the line.

Do you suppose those diebold machines did not get the job done, even with the very light turnout? And as someone who has worked the real election polls for years, manual recounts/verification of 4,500 votes can be accomplished in less time than this. Perhaps those Ron Paul supporters who wanted a manual count were correct all along??? Or is the official "auditor" of the results not satisfied????

It makes you wonder that the Ron Paul campaign had legitimate reason to be concerned about the machines. How else can the inordinate delay in announcing results be explained? It still looks as though Paul pulled 5th place. Not bad - he beat out Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, Hunter, and John McCain! Methinks the powers-that-be in Iowa (and in the media) wanted a certain result . . . and got it.

As a Ron Paul supporter I am very suspecious that the organizers of the poll wouldn't allow the paper ballots to be counted and I suspect the fix is in. The GOP doesn't want and will do anything to stop Paul and to hell with a fair election. I hope the Libertarian Party will step up and draft Paul to be their candidate in the '08 presidential election. America needs a man like Paul to roll back the socialism that has enveloped this country and choking it to death.
