Sure, Sen. John McCain had a really tough month in June. But he still managed to raise $5.5M. And even though the campaign floated the idea of accepting federal matching funds, 13% of that money is earmarked for the general election. By comparison, Ex-Sen, Fred Thompson's testing the waters committee took in $3.1M. The short, obvious lesson here is that context really matters when you're deciding whether somebody is up or down.
