Is John Edwards admitting he's losing ground in Iowa? Or is he trying to lower expectations? The truth is that the race in Iowa _has_ tightened, owing largely to Hillary Clinton's uptick there -- a result of, perhaps, her television advertising and some of the national bandwagon effect.

Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) wins a major South Carolina straw poll.

Tomorrow, the Hotline sponsors a straw poll on Mackinac Island, MI, where all the Republican candidates will gather .

Hillary Clinton is not a lesbian. She is a person of faith.

Fred Thompson has a West Virginia state director. Mike Allen catalogues his comedy-of-errors campaign.

Jon Stewart flummoxes Alan Greenspan by asking why, in a free country, do we need a central bank that sets monetary policy?

Hillary Clinton didn't actually declare that she isn't a lesbian, she declared that she had no control over what people say about her (saying, "it's not true" in general, not specifically). What I think is most likely the truth (what she's avoiding responding to) is that she almost certainly was or has had a history of homosexual relationship/s in her life and perhaps now does not. So, she's efforting to focus not on the reality of her life and experiences, but on what "people say" about her.

About the faith, the "adviser" she has may be, also, a member of the Baptist Church, but I question from a very primary place in my person as a Christian his sincerity of motive as also Hillary Clinton's. If she wants to be "a person of faith," she has not revealed herself to be one (so far). Perhaps for the Presidency, she's taking on this new personna, but I note she wore a necklace cross when it was fashionable a year or so ago (never before, never since) to declare herself as "a person of faith" yet quickly removed the necklace and has taken to wearing massive gold chains and such instead (no cross since). I don't accept Hillary as a sincere person "of faith" and her and her adviser's words to that effect seem like they're selling bites from an apple off the tree. It's plain usery of Jesus Christ to try to buy the Presidency.

...My point (previous comments) is that Christianity and belief in and faith in Jesus Christ is far more profound an issue than mere jewelry, also far bigger in scope than show&tell and performance for to make an impression (which is, essentially, usery).

Both Hillary and Bill Clinton have not (by a far fetch) led lives that reflect nor define Christian beliefs and morality. If we as a voting nation are to suddenly accept either or both of them as being "of faith," I guess it now is a case of evaluating them as to what "faith" they are engaged in and on what terms. I mean by that, Hillary's declaring this as a basis upon which she exists (she's "a person of faith" she says) so it then becomes an issue upon which she can fairly and reasonably (and should) be evaluated for the Presidency (if not also all professional capacity in the realm of public opinion). And upon that, she's not declaring herself a "Christian" so much as she's saying she's "a person of faith". So what "faith" is that and what does that actually mean as to her character? I believe it can be pieced together reasonably here that her "faith" is in Karl Marx, communism, the "power and glory" of socialist government.

I have a very strong instinct about the Clintons that does not allow me to even begin to trust either of them. I've also seen and heard more than my fair share of "devils" in churches and sitting in pews -- even Bill Clinton found a copy of the Bible to show before the cameras when times got tough but his life, character and actions never revealed nor defined him as a Christian.

Thus, I believe what we read here as to Hillary now being or attempting to be identified as "a person of faith" is more like a seller of tales, a sower of woe who attempts to make the bad thing acceptable to the gullible.

Ron Paul was just a few votes behind Huckabee. That tells me that the bulk of the religious right won't support the three or four frontrunners-- and if Giuliani is nominated, the Republicans will split for good.

The big news of the day yesterday was the poll out of Ohio and how far behind Obama runs from Edwards...

Edwards needs Iowa. He's got to hold off Hillary to win. I'm not sure if he's up to doing what it takes to beat her.

Funny stuff!

I actually think the big news is the elites are quaking in their boots! Ron Paul came in 2nd place from Huckabee in that Straw Poll and Huckabee actually went to the Poll! Ron Paul didn't even show up, but got 179 votes! That's Hilarious! The supposed "top tier" who also didn't show up commanded on average 15 votes a piece! GREATNESS!!
Too FUNNY!
