In Pittsburgh this morning, ex-Sen. John Edwards will proudly receive the endorsement of the United Steelworkers and the United Mineworkers of America, giving him the largest bloc of union endorsements so far.

USW claims 1.2M current members and retirees, including nearly 9,000 in Iowa.

Has Hillary officially lost the battle for labor support? Edwards is piling on the endorsements.

John Edwards is the Dick Gephardt of the 2008 campaign. He looks good on paper, but in the end I don't think the union endorsements are going to do him much good.

I can't wait til the next debate when someone asks him to explain how he plans to enforce requiring Americans to go to the doctor as part of his health care plan.

The haircuts, big house & hedge fund hypocrisies, "war on terror is a bumper sticker" and "get rid of your SUV's" have all but made sure he won't get any crossover votes from the right. And with Hillary and Obama in the race, he's not going to get the African American vote either - take a look at an Edwards' campaign rally and it looks like the RNC convention, a sea of white faces.

I guess that leaves the bloggers, because he's sure pandering to them. Too bad there aren't enough of them to save his campaign.

And by the way, I am a lifelong Democrat.
