Giuliani On Bernie Kerik

Some apologetic language today from Rudy Giuliani about Bernard Kerik, his former NYPD police chief and Homeland Security secretary candidate. Mr. Kerik is said to be the target of imminent indictments for a variety of alleged ne'er-doings.

Questions about Kerik are questions about Giuliani's judgment, and should he win the nomination, Kerik's downfall will become a key line of attack for Democrats.

These quotes, just moments ago, from National Journal/NBC campaign reporter Matthew Berger, who travels with the Giuliani campaign:

"Without commenting on that case, I've already said I should have checked his background more carefully. I didn't. I've learned a lesson from it. I'm going to check more carefully in the future.

"But I think you have to look at the thousands of choices I've made of people, and you have to look at the results that I got. I must have been making the decisions about people mostly correctly, because I was able to reduce crime by 66 percent.

This Kerik incidence is one more evidence that Rudy is a FRAUD.

Rudy recommended a criminal like Kerik as a Homeland Security Chief and now this same mor*n wants to be the president. Rudy has always made light of security and terrorism. He used the Emergency Command Center that he put in WTC to bang his mistress. Is this leadership?

I always laugh when Rudy takes credit for reducing crime. During the Bill Clinton economic boom of the 90s, crime went down all over the country. Clinton passed a crime bill, banned assault weapons, passed the Brady law and put 100,000 cops on the street. During the Clinton administration the economy added 21 million jobs, wages went up, and poverty went down. Most of this was without any GOP support, such as the pivotal Clinton 1993 economic package and tax increases that fueled the boom. You would have to be a really bad mayor to not have crime go down in your American city during the roaring 90s. And, when a 1990s GOP mayor takes credit it is a bit silly.

All that dissembling does not impress me. I think he knew exactly what Kerik was like. After all, he always brags about how effective he was as a US Attorney. To try to bamboozle us now into thinking he did not KNOW about Kerik's shady background is either a silly dodge or an admission that he is dumb as a stick in judging criminals, an area he is supposed to be a pro at. Ask me why I will not vote for Giuliani. He is a fraud. Kerik was not just a bad choice. He was Rudy's goon bodyguard and driver, who RUDY elevated to Corrections COmmissioner of NYC and then Police Commissioner.

Rudy did not just make a bad choice, he INTERVENED to BLOCK NYC Dept of Investigations from doing its standard FBI background check into Kerik before he because police chief. Kerik is the only police chief in NYC history to NOT have such a background check done, thanks to fear-mongering misery-pimping Rudy Giuliani. His mob connections would have precluded him from becoming police chief, so Rudy intervened.

It gets worse. Who is there to coordinate police and fire rescue on 9-11 but the most incompetent and corrupt NYC police chief in a century. And what does he do instead of establish a command center near ground zero, where he can coordinate with the fire chief and maybe tell them that the police helicopter is warning that the tower will collapse. He leaves the scene with Rudy to BE THE FREAKING GUYS BODYGUARD instead, and 120 firefighters die. That's the real Rudy. He chose Kerik to keep us safe and he f*cked up. That people see him as any kind of hero today is a reflection on the tragic state of affairs of our cowering media and ignorant hero-worshipping populous. Hey readers: tell your relatives in the heartland the truth about Rudy, before he lands in the White House for eight more years of Rethuglican rule!

Rudy and Judy are both frauds. In the days immediately after 9/11 they both did nothing for the Rescue and Recovery workers. After his administration he immediately formed a charity to help rescue and recovery workers yet to date, not one of us has been helped. Can someone please tell me where the money went? TWIN TOWERS FUND? Judith was the treasurer, with what experience? Where are the real reporters on this? Can you say Forensic banking trace?

Long before Rudy recommended Kerik for Homeland Security head, bloggers reported about Kerik's nefarious activities: his ineptitude during his many and short-lived high-falutin'-sounding positions, his improper use of public property and trust, his ties to organized crime, .... Kerik's only claim to high public positions was his relationship with Rudy over many, many years - the same number of years that Rudy showed absolutely no good judgement at all in his Kerik promotions.
While we're on the subject, check out the "good judgement" Rudy demonstrated in his NYC pre-9-11 decisions to counter terror. Drawing a blank? YUP! But give Rudy credit after 9-11 for having his pictures taken and raking in the $$$ for speeches. No leader there.

With Giuliani, the point's being missed.
It's not a 'little mistake' in judgement that's the issue; it's his being told by a commission of Kerik's mafia connections and recommending him anyway for 9/11 czar; and then when asked whether he'd been told of Kerik's past, Giuliani said, "I don't remember."
He's a liar, a promiscuous liar, an influence-peddling liar, a tragedy-for-sale, consulting liar---just what the country needs if it is to justify its world reputation.

Anyone who would put the NYC Emergency Command Center in a building after terrorist already hit a few years earlier certainly tell you something isn't kosher in the brain department. Even the underlings told him he was nuts and it should be in Brooklyn. To boot, the clown that owned the Trade Center buildings could not rent the floors in question ever since it was built. Along comes Rudy baby with a big fat contribution from this building owner, and dumb Rudy OKs inserting not only Command Center but fuel storage tanks as well. Suffice to say, it sounds like a little payola to me. Oh, we can't forget the little Judith bang room on the same floor.......
When will the national press get it's head out of his butt and tell the real full story.

Here's a fact: Rudy *is* Kerik's background. What's to check *better*? Rudy invented the guy from driver to boss. Others check with Rudy about Bernie, and with good reason: Bernie was nothing until Rudy. It is only regrettable that the night Kerik took his plea bargain, Mike Bloomberg removed the sign Rudy had placed renaming the Tombs in Manhattan in Bernie's honor. Many fine officers of the NYPD were awaiting the day when Bernard Kerik would be led in handcuffs into the "Bernard Kerik Detention Facility." They were disappointed.
