Huckabee's Money Begins To Flow

29 Oct 2007 12:55 pm

In politics, money usually chases the surging candidates. Mike Huckabee, it seems, scared it away -- until this month.

With your efforts, we have raised a total of $703,879 online during the month of October, including $331,420 over the last five days.

From October 1 through 24, Huckabee took in nearly $30,000 per day.

That's way above average.

In the first quarter, Huckabee averaged about $6,054 per day. (That's $544,880 divided by 90 days)

In the second quarter, Huckabee averaged about $8,391 per day.

In the third quarter, Huckabee averaged about $25,437 per day.

The campaign set a goal of $1,034,487 by midnigh ton October 31 -- a Million for Mike. Even one dollar -- "A Buck for Huck" -- is welcomed by the campaign.

The fundraising email states a goal of having $1.7M in the bank by end of November.

and RON PAUL is raising 3 times as much this month.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November

The real GOP race just started. Romney will collapse. He's basically a balloon waiting to be pricked and deflated. The GOP will reject Giuliani's bid to transform it into Democratic Party clone on social issues. There's some residual nostalgic affection for Mccain which helps explain his recent improvements in the polls. Thompson got into the race not because he wants to be president but because his wife wants to be First Lady; Republicans are catching on to that and he will quietly fade out.

The nominee will be Mike Huckabee. He's got the fire in the belly, the authenticity and a genuine and strong grassroots support that will power him past the rest of the field to victory.

A whole 1 Million dollars!!! This is news? I suppose considering he still has yet to break 900K with 47 hours to go. He's got a ready made group that supports him, and yet, they still wont open their pocket books for him.

You don't need a ton of money, but if you don't have about 10 million to work with to be heard above the noise, you're going to get lost in the static.

Before we make assumptions about how much money is needed, we need to look at how he has done so far without the big purses that the others have.

This is a man of conviction, faith, and fortitude. When people realize this, they want to have a chance to vote FOR him, not just against Hillary. People (like me) give money for the first time, ever. People email friends and family about him. People follow his campaign and write comments into blogs...like this one.

Don't underestimate Mike Huckabee or those of us who want to vote FOR someone like him!

Please hang in there Mike. A vote for you in the primaries is a vote against Rudy McRomneyson and makes the primary race closer to a two-candidate one for the plurality of the votes. In a two-way race between Huckabee and Paul, Paul wins every time.

As for Huckabee's chances against the Democrat's should he be the unlikely winner of the nomination, he really doesn't stand a chance. Anyone chanting the pro-war message, has to be chanting how to pay for it. The Democrats are highly skilled at making people feel good about higher taxes and more government control over their lives. Mainstream republicans cannot sing that song in tune and will be boo'd off the stage. Congressman Paul has the only message which can carry the general election for the Republicans.

Dear Lord,

Please let Mike Huckabee win the GOP nomination. That way, the Dems can run ads 24-7 describing his role in the Wayne Dumond case and Dumond's subsequent crimes. The ads will all end with the same tag line: "Is this how Mike Huckabee plans to protect the American people from the likes of Osama bin Laden?"

Your pal,
NCProsecutor

This is a guy who thinks the next President is bound by 'honor' to follow through on the neocon policies of George Bush, but thinks it's dishonorable to restore the non-interventionist policies of George Washington.

Yeah, let's all vote for huckabee. I mean, he did say that our honor - translation "allowing Americans to die for oil" - is more important than admitting Iraq was a mistake. Two thumbs down for Huckabee. A vote for him is a vote for the Bush policy!

America wants a change and Huckabee offers nothing!

Why is Huckabee's "Not-Quite-A-Million" news? I mean, really?

I do a lot of work in my community, talk to my friends, door knock and there are only two candidates with troops on the ground: Guliani and Ron Paul. And, frankly, only one of those has supporters who are excited about their candidate.

Rich

Maggie:

It's not a matter of underestimating anyone. But realize that Huckabee has some serious issues with any fiscally conservative person. In fact, as I've heard him described as being someone who says the scariest words ever, "I'm from the government and we're here to help."

Sure, there is some grass roots support for Huckabee, but it's a soft support, gendered more on how he sounds than on what he is actually saying. Does that mean he has no chance? Not at all. But what it does mean is that unless he can define himself, he's going to be defined by the other candidates, Particularly since the message of most republican candidates are nuanced differences from person A to person B (yes, yes, I know that this is an over simplification but you should take a look at the FRC Scorecard of the republicans, and see if there are really many significant differences for most candidates).

When I see Huckabee Pull in 2 million for a month, then perhaps he finally has enough people willing to contribute to him to make a stand. Again, don't take this a discouragement! but sometimes it's more than sending money, it's about bumper stickers, yardsigns, getting material out, feet on the ground. That's how Huckabee can win. But he's running out of time to do it.

If you have listened to Mike Huckabee speak on the issues and like what he has to say, I invite you to visit www.abuckforhuck.com and take my challenge. With your support, he will make a difference!

Mike Huckabee for President!!!! And don't think for one minute Huckabee does not have boots on the ground. My boots are one that are on the ground for him. He is the only choice for our next presidency.

If Huckabee gets the nomination, any Democratic candidate that pretends to be antiwar will win. ANY Dem.

Mike Huckabee is the man for the job. He has more executive experience than anyone else running and has a consistent message that really makes sense to people. I am "on the ground" as well Reva, we will continue to get the word out, and Huckabee will continue to surge in the polls and in contributions.

To Chris S,

Please explain your broad statement if you want people to listen to you.

Huckabee has more experience running for executive office than any other candidate, and he won against the Clinton political machine 4 times.

We do agree on one thing though Chris, most of the Dems are just pretending to be anti-war and are saying things like, "if elected, there will be a controlled withdrawal from Iraq," very vague.

From a Roger Simon article posted today on The Politico:

"I did some math:

Mitt Romney has spent $53.6 million this primary season and has 36.2 percent of the vote in Iowa, according to the poll. Which means Romney has spent $1.48 million for every percentage point of support.

Rudy Giuliani has spent $30.6 million and has 13.1 percent of the vote. Which means he has spent $2.34 million for every percentage point of support.

Mike Huckabee has spent $1.7 million and has 12.8 percent of the vote. Which means he has spent $133,000 for every percentage point of support.

So who is the biggest fiscal conservative?"

I cant believe the press that this clown Hyuckelberry gets. Ron Paul has raised so much more and has a much clearer message.

The Huckabee Scenario:

Step 1: Huckabee beats Thompson in Iowa (even if he doesn't win outright).

Step 2: If Romney wins Iowa, he goes on to beat Giuliani in New Hampshire, ending the Giuliani campaign. If Huckabee pulls off a surprise win in Iowa, Romney is dead and Giuliani wins New Hampshire.

In either case Romney/Giuliani doesn't pick up in the South, where their Mormonism/liberalism is a no-sell. Huckabee beats Thompson in South Carolina, thus ending the Tennessee Senator's campaign as the "Southern candidate."

It's Huckabee v. Romney/Giuliani in Florida and on February 5th. Romney/Giuliani has the financial advantage and the backing of the pro-business wing of the party, Huckabee has the backing of the South and the religious right, as well as a lot of momentum with the press.

In either case, Huckabee has a decent shot at the nomination by that point.

A realistic scenario?
