Carrie Giddins, the communications for the Iowa Democratic Party, says that the party will recommend to the state central committee this Sunday that the Democrats move their caucuses to Jan. 3.

I wonder if Obama, Edwards, and Richardson will pull their names off the Iowa ballot to protest the violation of sacrosanct DNC calendar rules?
Also Marc, can you give us an update on what's going on with the SC Dems' request to the DNC to let them move their primary up three days to Jan. 26th? I'd read somewhere (probably here) that South Carolina law said that you had to lock the primary date in place at least 90 days in advance. Well, 90 days from Jan. 26th is this coming Monday, so they'd better resolve this soon.

What happened to the prospect of the Iowa Dems seeking DNC permission for an earlier-than-Jan. 14 caucus? Is that idea dead? Do they expect that the DNC will refuse, so they're just going to go ahead with the Jan. 3 caucus anyway, and let the DNC sanction them?
