Jeb Bush, Jr. Endorses Giuliani

18 Oct 2007 08:08 am

The Giuliani campaign will announce today that Jeb Bush, Jr., the youngest son of the former Florida governor and nephew of the president, will endorse the former New York City mayor and will serve as the chairman of Young Professionals for Rudy in the state.

“As someone who has grown up with and around politics and candidates, I know that Rudy Giuliani has the leadership qualities and the experience to be the next President of the United States. I’m honored to join his campaign and look forward to working with the many young professionals throughout Florida supporting the Mayor,” Bush said in a statement.

A very solid endorsement in a series of solid Florida endorsements for Giuliani, including three sherrifs and the mayor of Doral.

Yesterday, Mitt Romney picked up an historic Florida name: Rep Connie Mack, the son of the former (beloved) Senator. George P. Bush, Jeb Jr's bro, has endorsed Fred Thompson.

The Republicans head to O-town this weekend for Presidency 4 and a Fox News debate.

Winter Park, Fl – The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Campaign today announced the endorsement of Jeb Bush Jr. Bush joins the Giuliani campaign as Florida Chairman of Young Professionals for Rudy.

“As someone who has grown up with and around politics and candidates, I know that Rudy Giuliani has the leadership qualities and the experience to be the next President of the United States. I’m honored to join his campaign and look forward to working with the many young professionals throughout Florida supporting the Mayor,” Bush said.

Bush’s activities with the campaign will focus on grass roots work in South Florida and the recruitment of young professionals across the state.

One fraud endorses another one.

When you've grown up around power mad, deluded and intellectually challenged males who owe everything to legacy admissions and family connections, Rudy looks pretty good.

I went to high school with Jeb! Junior (at a private school - shows how much confidence Jeb! had in the public schools of his state). He was a sophomore when I was a senior (makes him about 24 now.) I didn't know him well, but he came across as a sullen, monosyllabic, overprivileged (even in a context of privilege) jerk. His crowd was the underacheiving, anti-intellectual party kids, if I recall correctly.

I couldn't care less who he endorses.

I read a while ago that a deal had been sealed in private between Romney and the Bush Clan, that Jeb Bush would be Romney's VP choice.

However, given the association of the neocons with Giuliani, and now this, it is clear that the Bush Clan is shifting its support.

No intelligent voter will be persuaded by this endorsement, but the Bushes define 'politically connected,' and this endorsement serves notice to corporate donors as to where their campaign contributions should go if they wish to continue having access to the White House.

Wasn't he the one arrested in Texas for drunk driving?

Enough of these Republicans in name only. I support Alan Keyes, the real deal.

Regarding President Bush, my husband never thought we should have gone into Iraq. I support our troops. And while defending our troops and President Bush I have had some very heated argument's with my husband, oh boy, wait until hubby hear's about this Bush Family shift and the endorsement for Giuliani, and I thought I had heard all of the surprises in politics...the Bush family forgets who supported them. And Giuliani is not our pick.
YES, we are pro-life. My husband will just say
"I told you so" for sure.

To Karen's comments, you went to the same school, so I guess you and your family feels the same confidence in the public schools, also you said you could not care less whom Jeb endorses, ("I couldn't care less who he endorses.") So you actually do care who he endorse?

"...solid Florida endorsements for Giuliani, including three sherrifs and the mayor of Doral."

Is this the same Doral that has 11,200 registered voters, or a whopping 1.04% of all of the voters in Miami-Dade county? Wow, solid indeed.

Linda -- One Bush family member endorses Guiliani and one endorses Thompson. Not exactly a big "shift" of any type.

Oz

I taught Jeb, Jr. at UT-Austin. He didn't strike me as the sharpest tack on the old family tree, but, hey, if Giuliani wants to hire him, who cares?

Sounds like a bunch of liberals who want to attack anything Bush related. It's funny that Karen is critical of Jeb Bush Jr. for attending
a private school that she also attended. Typical liberal-speak...do as I say and not as I do....

As to my last comments, I made an error in the
email adress....

My son also went to high school with Jeb,Jr.and is still one of Jeb Jr.'s closest friends. My son is now in his second year at Harvard Law School and is obviously a high-achieving intellectual! Contrary to Karen, we know Jeb,Jr. very well. He is humble, unpretentious and currently working hard in real estate in Miami. He is one of the least spoiled children I know! I feel sorry for someone who has to make vitriolic statements about someone they "didn't know very well" and "don't care who he endorses".

Hey Dave and William... no, my parents didn't have any faith whatsoever in Jacksonville public schools... they also were not the Governor and First Lady of Florida and did not tout their so-called acheivements in the education system! I wasn't attacking him for going there - Bolles gives students a far better education than Florida public schools, arguably even the IB magnets. I'm glad I had the opportunity to escape going to my zoned school. I just think it's revealing that the governer would send his son there.

Duh.

Also, check your logic on "I could not care less", Dave. My caring about who he endorses could not reach lower levels, because it is already zero.

I don't think my statements were vitriolic, Candace. My impressions are my impressions. I did state that I didn't know him very well, so take my words with a grain of salt...

But I'd also take with a grain of salt the words of a doting mother. I know lots of jerky guys who were on their best behavior around their mom and their buddy's mom.

Truth Seeker:

No, he was just publicly intoxicated and resisted arrest. What a nice boy :-)

Also, after he was arrested at 16 for having sex in the back of a car in Tallahassee:

"According to Artie Brown, one of the two security guards who nabbed Jebby that night, the young Bush spoke to his father after being caught and then remarked, 'My dad will fix it.'"

Karen - Perhaps Jeb Jr. was that way in HS but doesnt mean he is today. People grow up, people mature. Hes 24 now, not 17. So Im hoping youre not judging the man based on how he was in HS. Also, theres lots of politicians' kids who go to private school, including liberal Democrats' children. Im sure every member of the Kennedy clan went to public school, LOL.

Also, just because she says she went to school with him it doesnt mean its true. I could have said the same story. People do make up things in order to hurt peoples' image, whether its the image of that person in particular or the image of their parent. You sound sincere and honest but...this is the internet, LOL. Its hard to take what anyone says at face value here. Not knocking you, just saying that he could have changed sinc HS and Im hoping you arent judging him from how he was as a kid (seems like you were a little bit, based on how you said things, but i dont know)...thats all :).

I am glad that you said 'take my words with a grain of salt' though. Only read your first post before i wrote mine. If it is true, hopefully hes mature. Sometimes it takes a few years after college, though. But, people can come across as jerks just around their buddies but be pretty decent when not around them. Happens alot with young people, for different reasons. I dont think it makes them a bad person (depends on exactly how they treat people and what they do, though), they just care too much about "looking cool", which, as I said, affects many many young people. But most who do that I would think eventually grow out of it.

Karen: Check your dictionary...vitriolic means "sharp and bitter", a correct description of your statements. Also, doting means "excessively or foolishly fond", not an accurate description of my statements. Maybe you didn't really go to Bolles. My kids all learned to use a dictionary there.....

Candace,

Oh, please.

Check yourself, lady. I just gave my honest impressions of him in high school. Yes, they were negative, and I realize that upsets you, but it doesn't mean I'm bitter. What I am is disgusted, because if he wasn't a Bush, he would just be a regular kid in Miami, and no one would care who he "endorsed" unless he was, say, endorsing a Demoncrat or something, and even then only for the shock value. Being a Bush didn't make him a particularly intelligent and wise high schooler, and it probably doesn't make him a particularly intelligent and wise 24-year-old, either.

If you knew him so much better, why do you care what I think?

Also, "doting mother" is a cliche that I used to demonstrate that you have a personal stake in the matter. So sorry for assuming that you love your son and might have a hard time seeing any bad in him and his friends. :-)

If your son really went to Bolles with Jeb, check the 1999 seniors in his yearbook - I'm in there under "L". My senior quote mentions one-way glass.

Seriously, how many 15 year old boys *aren't* sullen jerks? All I'm saying is that he was no wunderkind.

Oh dear, that didn't come out quite right. I meant that no one would care who he endorsed if he wasn't a Bush, becaus he would just be a regular kid.

So the only reason that I would see who he endorsed being news, given his family ties, is if he was endorsing a "Demoncrat", because that would be an open revolt against his Republican dynasty, and therefore interesting. As it stands... not interesting.
