Just Asking

Republicans, elect Rudy. He's the only one who can beat Hillary Clinton. 48 states in play. National hero. Hillary is George McGovern. Heck, a Giuliani v. Clinton head to head matchup wouldn't even be close

I'm not trying to be a smart alec, but for Rudy's argument from electability to be valid, shouldn't he, you know, beat her?

It's not as if Americans don't know who Rudy is .... (One of the five most famous, actually!).

But Rudy is a hero! He gave a great press conference on 9-11, which proves he's a leader, and he deliberately faked out the terrorists by putting the emergency bunker in the WTC, and he bravely dumped his wife through the press.

And let's not forget that fearless Cuomo endorsement in 1994! This guy will crush the Hillary machine!

I'll say it again, the one thing Hillary won't be able to overcome is the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton story. It will be the main reason why she won't win in 08.

Would he be the first crossdressing candidate?

Quit making sense, Mr. Ambinder. Rudy is tough and he will win the 2008 election, even if the facts show that he is not tough and there is no reason to believe that he will beat Hillary in 2008. Also feel free to praise his foreign policy and national security experience, even though he actually has none.

Hey, John Podhoretz loves Rudy, and when has J-Pod ever been wrong?

In equating Hillary to McGovern, doesn't Rudy run the risk of equating himself to Nixon?

Open question for the floor:

Did anyone here know that in 1994 Rudy awarded NYC's Crystal Apple (an award for foreign dignitaries) to Gerry Adams, and gave him a boat tour of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty? He praised Adams as a “harbinger of peace” and “a civil rights activist”. The problem?

Gerry Adams was a leader within the I.R.A., a brutal Marxist terror group with links to Columbia's FARC. Tapping Irish-American sympathies for the I.R.A. was too politically benieficial in NYC for Rudy to turn it down.

Now what is information like this tidbit going to do to Rudy's precious poll numbers? How about when the 70% of voters who think he's pro-life find out he's pro-abortion? Pro-gun-congrol? Big NYC budget deficits? How about when the rest of America finds out that his current wife was one of two simultaneous mistresses he had while married to Donna Hanover? Or that Rudy used the WTC Command Center for secret trysts with Judith? Or that Rudy put the NYC emergency response in the World Trade Center against the advice of his advisors, who pointed out that the WTC had been attacked before? Or when America finds out all about Rudy's longtime sidekick Kerick?

Ignorance is Rudy's best friend. And if we're dumb enough to nominate him in the primary, we Republicans deserve the butt kicking Hillary will give us in the general election.

If the general election is Hillary vs. Rudy, then:

1) Dobson and his fellow-travellers will endorse a third party candidate (read Op-Ed in todays NYT http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/04/opinion/04dobson.html?ref=opinion)

2) Nader (or some other anti-war candidate) will emerge on the left

3) Hillary will win with over 350 electoral votes (Kerry plus Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Florida, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Nevada)

Mr. Ambinder, if you are going to be a political pundit, shouldn't you know how to spot a bogus poll?

Go to the end of the article and read the methodology of this poll. Is the sample likely voters--the gold standard for polls? No. Is it registered voters--the silver standard? No.

This is a sample of adults, including the half of the population that isn't even registered to vote. The ABC/WaPo people know damn well that if you want to know what voters think, you only sample voters.

You should too. Next time please don't let these partisans masquerading as objective pollsters fool you.

hey FrankC, you forgot to add that Rudy used the emergency bunker to bang his mistress (his current wife, and yes, the third wife). Rudy was banging this same woman in emergency bunker at that time who now interrupts him during his speeches by calling on his cellular phone.

BangBang,

If you knew the things Mrs Giuliani #3 knows, wouldn't you be checking in on Rudy 5 times a day?

If Hillary is McGovern, you might want to pass that info on to AIPAC, because they are pretty sure that she is a hawk.

Didn't Rudy vote for McGovern? Was that an endorsement?

"Republicans, elect Rudy."

Yes, take a study you posted from ABC News as holy writ. I mean, why have an election if we have you guys to tell us who are presidents should be? You guys don't report what's happening-- You can actually tell the future.

Vote for Rudy in the primary. That way, a corrupt, thrice married, affair having, 2nd amendment hating, pro-choice, cross-dressing, civil rights hating, 9/11 opportunist that the New York Fire Fighters revile can have a chance to lose to whoever the democratic candidate is.

Isn't his daughter supporting Barack Obama? If I had to guess why she is, it would probably be because she knows how her father really is and not how you guys try to portray him as being.

I've got a better idea. If you are a republican, don't vote for Giuliani. He is a morally bankrupt person and politican that uses the memory of a tragedy to further his political career.
