He asked his supporters to close the gap between himself and Sen. Clinton, and his 365,000-strong movement has responded.

Did Howard Dean ever raise this much, this quickly, in 2003? (Yes).

I think Dean raised a million dollars in one day right after he announced his last stand in Wisconsin.

Kerry raised a million dollars a day after wrapping up the nomination.

Our movement to stop global warming will never have the kind of money that these campaigns can muster, so we're busy seeing what other ways we can put the internet to use to get some real social change.

Take a look at a post I just put up on Kos (my first ever, after lurking in the shadows for a long time now). It's about our new campaign with Step It Up and a clever widget we've developed to get these candidates to offer some leadership on climate change.

Just thought you guys should look at this video. Just take the 13 minutes required, I find it amazing that this has stayed under the radar for so long. If you don't believe the video look it up, there is plenty of evidence.

Sad self-link Bill.

Additionally, it would be interesting if someone did some analysis on specific fundraising drives such as these to figure out who's giving. Does this appeal against Hillary and "D.C. Insiders" cause new donor to perk their ears up? Are these the folks who gave just to enter the Obama Rally when it came to town?

I suppose only their finance department would know.

Hey willie, here's how it worked for me. I think I actually saw this first on Daily Kos mid-day thread yesterday afternoon, linked here, checked my email, saw a fundraising letter and (first time!) actually clicked to donate 25 bucks. I am an Obama supporter, they've got all my info, but apart from buying a couple of t-shirts this was my first donation. Why did I when I did? Partly to flip the bird to HRC's campaign, partly to prove that people-powered campaigns can deliver not just feet on the ground but $$ too. Reading the blogging over at Obama's page was pretty amazing. There were people basically doing the NPR-style matching pledge (on their own, not through the campaign), lots of first-timers like me, people who knew to the dollar how much room they had left to give for the rest of the primary season, etc. So when I look at what the total has grown to today, I feel pretty proud of my fellow Obama supporters.
Best regards.
