Obama's Campaign Seems To Have A Drudge Pipeline, Too

22 Oct 2007 10:34 am

In today's New York Times, Jim Rutenberg reports on the curious, profitable alliance between Hillary Clinton and Matt Drudge, a connection mediated entirely through intermediaries.

For a while, Clinton seemed to be the only Democrat whose allies managed to open a pipeline to the South Florida-based web traffic master.

But not anymore.

When in early October a Clinton "source" leaked Drudge her third quarter fundraising numbers, a curious bit of counter spin appeared in a Drudge subhead just moments later.

It noted that Barack Obama had, in fact, raised more money for the entire year, and it used the exact same language than an e-mail sent to reporters later by the Obama campaign just happened to contain.

What a pitiful state the US media is in.

Sounds like someone has already been contacted by a defensive Hillary communication flack.

Pushing back against Hillary camp's "exaggerations" of her third quarter numbers is no way, no how equivalent to using Drudge as Hillary's "mouthpiece" to the media.

More of the "he did it too" argument from Senator Clinton's campaign.

Obama is beating Hillary by a long shot according to this latest poll. I don't know why people think Hillary has a shot. http://OurVote.us/

Great catch Marc. People yell & shout about all things Hillary while ignoring similar behavior by the other candidates. And when anyone (such as yourself) tries to point it out people attack the messenger with red-baiting and inuendo.

Keep up the great work - I really appreciate the way you shed light on what's happening with this campaign and look forward to reading more from you.

Ourvote.us? What kind of joke poll is that? I went to investigate, and it is some mom-and-pop unscientific poll... please. For the politics overview, go to www.politico.com.

Drudge is the man for having good search engine rankings, but his entire site is NOTHING more than an RSS feed of other people's content. I ain't mad at him though..:-)
