Rick Perry's Audition

17 Oct 2007 10:00 am

Gov. Rick Perry began his vice presidential audition in a tiny conference room on the second floor of a classy hotel in DC this morning with a comparison to the person Perry assumes will be the Democratic nominee.

"Rudy Giuliani is a leader who has a proven record, a leader who gets things done. A results oriented leader. He offers a much better vision than another Clinton presidency," he said.

"Experience matters for the next President of the United States and the mayor of America's largest city is amply prepared to be the next President of the United States," Perry said. Then, perhaps recognizing that he might as well have endorsed David Dinkins, he continued: "I'm not talking about just any mayor. I'm talking about America's mayor."

Perry also took a jab at Mitt Romney, saying that a "President should be able to respond to threats without dialing up their lawyer first." (Giuliani and his entourage laughed heartily).

Asked the inevitable question about Giuliani's moral liberalism, Perry compared Giuliani to an automobile. "When I go to buy a pick-up truck, if it's got one option that I'm not particularly fond of, I don't disregard that pick-up truck."

He said that Giuliani's promise to appoint "strict constructionist" judges in the mold of Scalia, Thompson and Alito was more than sufficient to convince him that Giuliani won't govern as a liberal.

Besides, he said, "Know that, versus the kind of judges that will Hillary Rodham Clinton [will appoint] to the court."

Giuliani offered a preview of sorts of his speech to the Family Research Council Values Voters convo on Saturday. He said he would say: "Let me explain to you that we're in this together and we look at the world in much the same way, probably more than you think... I very much come from the 80/20 school, where my 80 percent friend is not my 20 percent enemy." He recognized that for single issue voters, "I'm not going to get every vote."

Giuliani aides did not say why Perry chose to endorse today. Organizers at the Club for Growth conference, where Giuliani spoke immediately after the endorsement, were chagrined that the mayor had shoehorned a major endorsement before his early morning address, guaranteeing that the media would focus on that, rather than the Club speech.

And as we found out yesterday, Sen KBH will not seek reelection in 2012... things are lining up nicely in Texas now aren't they.

But really, how much conservative credibility does Rick Perry bring with him?

Rick Perry ain't gonna be on the GOP ticket. The guy's been a piss-poor governor, brings nothing to the ticket, and there have been persistent rumors about his sexuality for years (mind you, I couldn't care less, but Larry Craig's debacle indicates Christianist GOPers will die by the sword if they try to live by the sword of persecuting gays).

Guliani/Perry would be a perfect ticket. Two famous cross-dressers running together on the same ticket!

Good for the 'Gay Old Party'.

Tricky Ricky only won his last election by 39% of the vote. This crook likes to steal our public highways and sell them as toll roads to his contributers, and he's been pushing his trans texas corridor (TTC) land grab on Texans as well.

Supposedly, Bracewell & Giuliani represent the Spanish firm Sintra which will be building the NAFTA Superhighway (the one that doesn't exist, right?), operating it, and most likely, as soon as the going gets tough, Texas taxpayers will be bailing them out. Gov. Goodhair and Ghouli are great company...slimy, crooked, and certainly NOT Republican.

Let's blame it all on Kinky and Grandma for spoiling the election.

We need to impeach Rick Perry and send him to prison for the crimes he has committed against the people of texas for years, America and the world.
For his part in violating right of people thru development of the Trans Corridor, participation in Bilderberg, taking kickbacks from Merck and forcing HPV shots on women (might as well have been rape) and too many other violations to mention in the time I have.

Rick Perry is as much a criminal too me as Bush, Hillary or Hitler.

Rick Perry seems to be sleeping with the biggest crooks in the world from Guiliani on to all the other Republican hounds.

Where in hell are the funds for new highways going to come from for local roads if Perry and his mob can no longer sell us out to foreign companies. This amounts to theft of private and public property ;which is just as bad as some of the dishonestly run speed traps operating at 2 A.M.Your word against a police officers word when the police is sent out to write tickets in the middle of the night on lightly travelled roads. They just want to get the quota over with by writing tickets to innocent people ;about the way our government screws us out off tolls to get from point A to point B in a reasonable amount of time. Why not just sell bonds to build these roads we need and quit taking away our highway funds.Gasoline taxes are going where?
