Romney now flipflops on his $250 million fortune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL.. Since telling reporters in January that having to tap his personal fortune - he is worth between $190 million and $250 million - for the campaign would be "akin to a nightmare," Romney has written $15 million in checks. At the time of his "nightmare" comment, he had already loaned $2.4 million. But don't worry - putting $17.4 million of his own money into his campaign is virtuous: "I am going to contribute to my campaign, but my campaign is not entirely being financed by my own resources," he said during a campaign stop yesterday in Derry, N.H., adding that he could not expect others to give if he did not give himself. "The campaign is being financed primarily through the donations of others." Romney really is the show candidate. It's not just that all his political beliefs are entirely on the surface, with his only core conviction being his desire to be president. No, his impressive-for-a-Republican $62.4 million in fundraising is a surface thing, too, with 28% of it coming from himself, and his leads in early primary states are less from deep support than from the fact that he's spent $8 million on 10,000 ads running almost entirely in Iowa and New Hampshire, with a touch of South Carolina and Florida. But what will happen when his competitors start advertising seriously? Will the name recognition and familiarity with his blandsome face and slick hair that those 10,000 ads have bought stand up? Or will it be another nightmare?
Not sure if Mitt can win on finance/economy issues. He didn't really do much in Mass.
You guys are all either confussed or lost. Mitt Romney is the best qualified to lead this country. His record shows this. He is a fantastic leader. He will strenghten America. He has my support.
Yasser, Please stop overwhelming this comment area with dozens of objective facts about Romney's performance in the past and how it makes him the best qualified to be president. It just can't handle that much convincing truth.
Property Taxes soared in MA during Mitt's term. He can't raise them directly, but a huge proportion of his budget 'cuts' were to aid for schools, police and fire departments through local aid. He was less willing to cut actual bloated state spending, like the Big Dig. Then, of course, their are the 1 billion dollars in "fees" he raised.
I love it when liberals comment on conservative stories. They love to twist the truth. Remember that Romney turned a one billion deficit into a two billion surplus during his tenure. Actions speak louder than words. He is a fiscal and social conservative. The liberals would rather Romney had conceded Massachusetts to the Democrats, they are still mad at him for winning the Governorship. Mitt Romney will be the best president this country has seen since Ronald Reagan. Go Mitt!
Mitt won't even win the nomination, much less the election. http://www.newyorkforhuckabee.blogspot.com
Mitt's economic record is not perfect. No governor's record is. But Romney had to deal with a truly irrational legislature who decided the solution to their budget crisis was tax tax tax. Romney did raise user and license fees. I will listen to liberals criticize Romney in that regard when they can point to one democrat at any level of government(city state or federal) who hasn't tried to raise fees for something. The fact that Romney doesn't put this on his resume like a democrat would does not make him a liar. Romney did benefit from an economic turnaround that he can't take total credit for. Economies generally improved nationwide while he was governor. However, Romney reversed a capital gain debacle that had businesses scrambling to leave the state. Romney can take credit for reversing that business exodus. I could go on but the fact that so many liberals just call Romney names show how little they have on him. They have no candidate who has anything even akin to his record. While that is frustrating, it is disingenuous to call him a liar. He exercises more integrity in a week than most do in a year.
ROMNEY is OUTSTANDING and is THE MAN! Can't WAIT FOR THIS GUY TO BE PRESIDENT!
The Phony Mitt is now sending his Phony Mail? The plastic pretty-boy Mitt has spent $50o on the makeup. Yes on freaking makeup! Thats his economic agenda!!
The fact is, no other candidate on either side is more fitting for the task of fiscal excellence (yes, excellence, not responsibility, that's entry level expectation). Mitt has an unparalleled record for getting more out of less in business, government and in the Salt Lake Olympics. This much is obvious and posters here need to just pick another issue to attack him on since it's foolish to adress an area that he owns, that he runs circles around the others on. Just watch today's debate on CNBC. I believe it's from 2pm-4pm EST. I haven't confirmed the primary focus of this debate, but since it is on CNBC I suspect that means fiscal matters will be paramount. Also, this marks Water-testing Fred's first debate. Thanks for gracing us with your presence, Fred. It was so nice of you to come around to actually compete and match up against our other choices instead of you getting your way in one-on-one debates with Hillary. We're all so grateful! Honestly, how much Red Bull are he and McCain going to juice up on before this debate? I think Fred needs more than McCain; we all remember John's Red Bull episode and he's erratic enough without it. But Fred...but Fred, lol, a 2 hour debate? I dunno, I'm sure that he usually takes at least one nap in every two hour block, so maybe he'll have some sort of ginseng energy drip set up under his suit.
Vote Ron Paul 2008. He has more experience than Romney an is more conservative. He has never increased taxes in his U.S. House of Representatives (1976–1977, 1979–1985, and 1997–present) career. He advocates a non-interventionist foreign policy, having voted against actions such as the Iraq War Resolution, but in favor of force against terrorists in Afghanistan. He favors withdrawal from NATO and the United Nations, citing the dangers of foreign entanglements to national sovereignty. Having pledged never to raise taxes, he has long advocated ending the federal income tax and reducing government spending by abolishing most federal agencies; he favors hard money and opposes the Federal Reserve. He also opposes the Patriot Act, the federal War on Drugs, and gun control. Paul is pro-life, but opposes a Federal ban on abortion, advocating overturning Roe v. Wade to let states determine its legality. As far as the Politically correct War in the middle east if it was working we'd have lower gas prices not higher ones. If it was a war worth fighting it would financially binefet us not deplete us and add a huge bill to our national debt. For all of you who don't know our national debt is 50+ trillion dollars 50,000,000,000 want to pay it?????

Liar, liar, pants on fire.
This flipflopper is a liar. He raised taxes but calls it "raising fees". What an intellectually dishonest politician is this Romney guy. He thinks that his millions will revamp his record.
Mitt is a LIAR.
