Some More Third Quarter FEC Highlights -- Romney

15 Oct 2007 10:03 pm

Without the $17M in checks he wrote to himself, ex-MA Gov. Mitt Romney would be $9M in debt. But that's a meaningless factoid: Romney has the money, and he can write and spend as much as he wants.

Does a campaign with a 114% burn rate raise questions about its investment strategy? Not really. Could Romney realistically have spent $50M on anything else? There's no way, in a presidential year featuring superstars of Obama-Giuliani-Clinton-Thompson-McCain calibers, that Romney could have spent the money to increase his national profile and therefore his national polling numbers.

Pay Day Hey Hey? To increase the trim of their fundraising pitch, the campaigns often postpone end of quarter paydays, and it seems like Romney's staff only got paid once in September, rather than twice -- on the 15th and the 30th.

Romney has run a very impressive campaign. They have gone very far, very fast. They have a solid plan, message, team and they have executed very well. The payoff has been substantial. They might need some new tires for the Mitt Mobile. How many townhalls has he done to date?

As any entrepreneur knows, it takes money to make money and the initial investment for winning the Presidency for a relatively unknown state Governor is high. However, once the strategy of winning in NH and IA pays off, he'll get all the media attention he could want, just like he planned. Smart man.

IF ONLY Ron Paul had Romney's kind of money . . .

Romney is a CON-MAN. He thinks he can buy anything with money.

This flipflopper can not even manage his own finances then how can he manage the country? He wants to become prsident so that he and his five sons can start new wars and make billions out of them.

Tammy Says: "Romney is a CON-MAN. He thinks he can buy anything with money?"

Is he flamboyant? No...Does he still live in the same house he bought 20 years ago? Yes...Does hie use the same barber he's used for 25 years? Yes...A good amount of his wealth is in a family trust for his kids and he gives well over 10% of his annual income to his church and other charitable organizations, does this show that he is a con man? Plus, he's working harder and putting in more personal hours than any other candidate in the field. The point of all this is to say that you have absolutely no basis for your claims...You may differ with him from a policy perspective, but certainly should not call into question his integrity.

His 1994 senate run will be brought up again and again to show that he was a liberal that changed his stripes. But check out his actual pamphlet from 1994:

Has he changed on abortion rights? Yes, thankfully
Has he changed on much else? Please show me where?
Did he denounce Regan/Bush? No, he specifically denounced the massive budget deficits that were incurred during that period.

Is he a CON-MAN? No
Have any of the candiates besides Romney contributed their own funds to their campaigns? What do they have to lose then? At least Romney is standing behind his message with more than "other people's money."

Tammy, you mean CON as in CONSUMMATE? Right On!

Romney is also a COM-MAN - as in COMPETENT (just like "consummate"). Personal prejudices, biases, and bipartisanship aside, Romney IS the best and ideal candidate for President of the United States. Endorsements from the Evangelicals in DeMoss, and Robert Taylor of the Bob Jones University, will give Romney the boost that he needs. America will have no regrets in a Romney presidency!!

And we don't even have to pay him when he is elected. We will get the money back that he should be earning as president. Just like what hed did in MA, he donated his salaries. What a good man, indeed.

Not only will we get his presidential pay back, we will get economic policies that will drive this country into prosperity for generations to come. What is that worth?
