Oh that none of us are ever videotaped. Personally I don't find it amusing at all. The same could be done to everyone.

I cannot stand Fred Thompson, he is horrible. That being said, I think this kind of video will actually backfire and give Thompson support.

Of course, about 2 seconds of research (i.e., clicking on the profile link of the uploader) revealed him to be a Huckabee fan. Perhaps Ambinder could have pointed that out.

And, perhaps Ambinder might want to encourage real debate about real issues instead of cutesy editing jobs.

In fact, here's a real question for the Huckster.

I honestly think that Thompson is essentially an empty suit, but as a professor who can only imagine what could be done to a videotape of one of my lectures, I have to say that the video is unfair and honestly not that revealing. Practically anybody could be made to look bad in such a fashion.

Fred Thompson's candidacy is a joke, and nobody has expressed this notion more frequently and forcefully than I.

That being said, I suspect you could comb through 15 - 30 minutes of exposition from almost anybody and find enough material to edit together a video clip like that.

That is just silly, and it proves nothing.

What proves the most about Fred Thompson's complete lack of fitness to serve as president is when he actually articulates what passes for ideas in that vacuous brain of his.

Marc Maron said it best this week:

Fred Thompson's campaign slogan should be, "Aw, hell, I don't know!"

Huckabee challenged Fred to a real Lincoln Douglas style debate and the Cowardly Lion skipped town. If he can't handle a Baptist Preacher one-on-one, how in the world will the lobbyist of 18 years be able to take on al-Qaida?
