Does Huckabee Have The Guts To Criticize The Clintons?

29 Nov 2007 11:56 am

Remember:

In 1996, Huckabee skipped the Republican National Convention in San Diego that he did not want to be forced to criticize Bill Clinton. Huckabee was the party's pride and joy at the time -- its newest governor. Aide Rex Nelson told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette at the time at Huckabee was concerned about "the possibility of Arkansas-bashing at the convention." He did not want to be put in a position to have to defend his state.

Huckabee has become friendly will Bill Clinton since then, collaborating with him on an anti-obesity initiative.

If Huckabee is chosen as the vice presidential nominee, he'll be in the critic's cat-bird seat.

Hillary's never held office in Arkansas, and Huckabee doesn't hold office there now, so the potential conflicts of interest would seem to be far less relevant.

Your whole post is presumptuous. Huckabee can't win the nomination himself? Clinton will be on the ticket no matter what?

AND: Who cares?

Why would he? He has a host of groups eager to bash Hillary...he doesn't need to do it.

Well, he did recommend that Hillary be the first person sent to Mars last night (at the debate). That's a start. If he goes head to head, expect clever funny jabs to make her look godless. I think he has a 50-50 chance now of the nom, with the Thompson implosion many Republicans are giving him a second look, and if he does get it, he probably more than any other candidate has the potential to be the guy the republicans join ranks behind. I say that not as a supporter but as an observer. Also he has the potential to grow the republican base by reaching out to minorities (remember he did not skip morgan state and he has not been an a**hole on immigration). The likability issue will be a problem for Hillary if he gets it. Dems ignore him at their peril.

You are to be congratulated for managing to insert so many warped ideas into so few words.

Currently, Huckabee is the only candidate to be rising in the polls at both the national level and in Iowa. It appears that his decision will be who to select as his vice-presidential running mate, not whether he would be able to serve as someone else's attack dog.

And, Mike Huckabee is the only candidate in either party who has actually beat the Clinton political machine.

Thompson implosion? he is the only one with reasonable conservative positions.

Huckabee is very effective. Your post shows two things, 1) Huckabee understands that your enemy today may be your friend tomorrow and vis versa. 2) You clearly need to learn how to construct a good post.

Huckabee reminds me of Reagan - VERY likeable, witty, quick thinking.

President Huckabee kind of has a ring to it....
