Huckabee's Second Ad Focus On Faith

26 Nov 2007 08:16 am

His faith, Mike Huckabee says, defines him. The words "Christian Leader" flash across the screen. Huckabee is shown saying: "Let Us Never Sacrifice Our Interests For Anybody's Politics"....

Subtle it is not. But it's what you've got to do. A silent irony: that "let us never sacrifice" line is targeted at Rudy Giuliani, in whose interest it is for Huckabee to do well in Iowa. So the Giuliani campaign probably, silently, welcomes a Huckabee advertisement that focuses on faith and values.

We believe in some "things"? We'll fight for other "things"?

Tell me Huck, where do you stand on "stuff"?

Also, where was speech given? Is it just a rehearsed scene in front of a blue screen?

Huck is officially the Pat Robertson of the 2008 race. all he does is slow romney down and pave the way for Giuliani. Everybody knows he has no chance in any later states or to pull of the nomination.

all the churchgoers in iowa will show up and vote for him in iowa even though he has no shot.

pro-life liberal huckster. what is he good for: getting giuliani elected.. isn't it ironic. those religious people who carea bout abortion and such are the ones stopping the only legitimate pro life candiate from stopping giuliani.

The speech was given at the Values Voters summit. Look up the speech on Youtube.

The internet makes it easy to look these things up, so why ask silly questions?

Right you are Ryan, some are just here to make a rediculous statement. Trying to catch Mike in a lie or flip floping. Mike doesn't play that game. It is only fair that Mitt Romney get grilled on his religion just like Mike did. I know it is a waste of time to do that because it won't matter to the ones that have made up their minds about Mitt any how. But FACTS ARE FACTS. If a Christian wanted to vote for Mitt, thinking HE (Mitt) was a Christian, then, it should be out there by the media, just what a Morman believes. And Mitt should have to answer questions like Mike did on Fox by Bill O'Riley. That was some big time waste of time!! But like most say, fair is fair. And it shouldn't be sugar coated like the interview with Mitt and his wife. They just skimmed over the Morman stuff, wasn't ask any questions. Mitt is really scared this religion thing will hurt his campaign! And I think it will too.

That "let us never sacrifice" line is aimed at Giuliani? I don't think so. It's more likely aimed at social conservatives who are thinking about voting based on pragmatism instead of on their ideals.

There's no way I'd ever vote for a Southern Baptist - especially one who was a preacher. The last thing we need is another Bible thumper in the White House.

In response to Willie:

The speech is from this year's "Values Voter" Summit in Washington, organized by the "Family Research Council."

And I think everyone knows what "things" fundamentalist Christians believe in. So why waste valuable ad time outlining them?

For those who are still unaware: the Christian Right wants to keep gays in the closet, force women into unwanted pregnancies, and generally take away our freedom of choice in personal matters. All so that it doesn't have to be scared of us wacky liberals anymore.

You guys are all creeping me out,

Mike's hard lined religious views are exactly what attract me to him. I am a poor college student who has already made two donations to his campaign because I am bound and determined it will take my support for him to win.

You may believe he is still a second tier candidate but you are all wrong. Mike Huckabee is the future of this country. It will take a man with strong views like his to lead us against the failings of society.

Unfortunately George Bush has always believed these things but never had the courage to stand up and tell others off.

Mike will not be a puppet and that is why he started this race so far behind.

He is one of the best Governors in the country (Time Magazine) That should of had him starting as a first tier candidate. He started low because he is truthful and honest and I admire that so I encourage everyone to join me in financially backing Huck today.

I was going to vote for Romney until I found out Huckbee was endorsed by God. Shoot, I'm still voting for Romney. Family values in action. I'm sure Romney can thump the Bible with the best of 'em but he doesn't. I like that.

Huckabee knows he can't win the nomination, but that he can siphon enough votes from Romney to assure Giuliani's victory, thereby earning Giuliani's gratitude. Because Giuliani does poorly among values votes, Giuliani would likely pick him for VP.

As the VP nominiee, Huckabee will be a first tier candidate in 2012 if Giuliani loses, 2016 if he wins.
