Paul Weyrich is one of those conservatives whose name means something to other conservatives and whose pedigree imparts upon the recipient of his endorsement a layer of respect.
That Weyrich, a member of the old guard and co-founder of the Moral Majority _would_ endorse at all is telling.
Either he is extremely nervous about Rudy Giuliani or he is comfortable enough with Mitt Romney's ideological evolution to lend his name. Maybe he's decided to put the interests of the conservative coalition above the strict standards pro-life activists generally hope to fill. In other words, there's a reason he did not endorse Mike Huckabee.
Weyrich's endorsement might not beget votes but it might beget other endorsements. David Brody was the first to report this.
