Push Poll Weirdness

16 Nov 2007 06:42 pm

Republican blogger Soren Dayton is not a fan of Mitt Romney's, but this conclusion of his seems accurate:

Mitt Romney is family friends with the Founder and Chairman of the company that is placing anti-Mormon and anti-Romney phone calls?

As he writes: who would have the audacity to use a Utah call center to make anti-Mormon calls?

The implication, if I understand Dayton, is that Romney allies (operating separately from the campaign) might somehow be involved in this...maybe trying to gin up sympathy for their candidate.

That's most unlikely, but it really is, as they say, a small world.

This seems VERY unlikely. Think about it: Voters in New Hampshire answer their phone call and hear this push poll against Romney... but they don't go to this blog or to the Politico to discover that it was a push poll and that Romney has been victimized. Romney has nothing to gain here, and stuff like this only generates sympathy among those of us who follow this kind of stuff obsessively. We aren't the ones who are going to give Romney a plurality of the vote come January 8th.

Wouldn't using a Utah-based firm to attack Romney even more nonsensical if Romney allies were behind this?

It seems far more likely that a third-party group who doesn't like Romney would enjoy the irony of using a Utah firm.

I hope no Romney ally would be stupid and lazy enough to use a firm with connections to him. Plus, would the resulting sympathy from staging a bogus push poll be worth the damage the calls might do in Iowa and NH?

Too conspirational for me.

GO ROMNEY!!!!!

I met Mitt Romney in person tonight at the home of Steven and Sandra Covey.

He is humble, articulate, and has a solid vision for how to make America strong, beginning with the people, not the bureaucracy.

I want to be part of Mitt's America. A stronger military that is the ally of peace. A focus on families. A tough look at the budget. Reduced dependence on foreign oil. A better economy run by someone who has funded and helped build many of America's strongest companies.

It is true what they say about his haircut by the way. Worth all $200. I'll bet it wins him an extra 200,000 million votes in the primaries, and becomes the cheapest advertising the man has.

Could it have been a real poll to determine if mitt's religion is a problem for him. I have not found one list of questions. I think the whole think is strange. And as far as Jed's comment about meeting Mitt, I find that too convenient as well. Mr and Mrs Covey do you know Jed and did he walk in the door with Mitt?

I am very tired of our contrived politics and fake news plants.

I am wondering if I am the only one who suspects the 527 group that is doing the negative ads in South Carolina pushing the McCain campaign could possibly be the same group behind this bigotry. Hmmmm.

Come on Marc, you of anyone in the blogosphere knows better than to buy this kind of crap. Anyone really think Romney is so stupid as to use a company that he has links with to run this kind of dirty politics?

IF he saw a need to use such a sulphurous tactic, why not use a company with complete deniability? These things are done on the sly, not in the light of day. Mitt and his machine are not first timers - the logical contortions needed to make this Mitt's doing are mind bogglingly ill conceived.

Romney did it. What a douche.

It has to be Romney's own strategy to gain the sympathy. Romney is the most deceiving and intellectually dishonest politician ever.

Romney has proven that he will do and say anything to win elections.

"The implication, if I understand Dayton, is that Romney allies (operating separately from the campaign) might somehow be involved in this...maybe trying to gin up sympathy for their candidate.

That's most unlikely"

Only if you are newborn-baby naive.

The Romney didn't do, I would bet my life on that. I think it was either a Democrat supporter's 527 feel things out because they know Romney is the most talented of the bunch....

Or an Anti LDS group....

We will know within a couple weeks and whoever did it when the New Ham AG starts issuing subpeona's, the truth will comeout... The whoever did it is toast in the election, lets hope it's the Democrat cronies....

NOBODY ELSE HAS ACCOMPLISHED WHAT ROMNEY HAS. It's time to change America. Who else won't take a 500,000 salary. Will lead a top to bottom audit of dept of federal government.

Romney 2008

Matt,

Your a tool,

when you actually accomplish some things in your young life then you'll have some room to call someone a douche. Until then go back to hitting your bong and playing Halo for 7 hours a day.

Anderson, are you talking Mitt Romney's position change on Abortion. Yes he did change his position and he has been honest and sincere about that. That happened over 3 years ago man. It's apparent to me that the only dirt Romney has is that. It just shows me, he is not stubborn.

And different then Hillary, who changed her stance in 10 freakin days over drivers licenses for illegals when she found that 75% of America wasn't having it.

How everyone is not (Media) lambasting Clinton on that. I know firsthand that Mitt Romney is wicked smart and walks the talk.

What scares the crap out of me, is that the popular favorite among college kids is Ron Paul and Obama...

Ron Paul= NO IRS.

As cool as this sounds DUDES, how are we going to roads, schools, police, fire. Ron Paul is dead wrong.

Obama not a bad guy, but we have no idea what this guy would do.

I agree with these guys, I like Romney and think he will do alot of good for the country.
