Richardson Moves Nevada Staff To Iowa

06 Nov 2007 07:22 am

About 10 Bill Richardson campaign staffers in Nevada will move to Iowa for the duration of the campaign. They'll recieve caucus training soon, a campaign spokesman says.

But the campaign is also adding staffers to Nevada, so the total number of staff there will remain relatively constant.

John Edwards's campaign has seen some Nevada staff reshuffling, and yesterday, Bill Clinton himself made a surprise visit to the Culinary Workers, the most powerful union local in America.

Without the West in the Whitehouse, we don't have a winner. Ronald Reagan was the last westerner. We need Bill Richardson as our best chance to have good balance representing a diverse USA.

Nevada is a smart state, maybe the smartest state in the USA. I really expect the average Nevadian to vote for Bill Richardson for western reasons. They would stand to inherit more being from Nevada than any of the other Democratic candidates will offer them in the hierarchy of government business with a westerner like Bill Richarson in office.

The best gamblers are Nevadians. They can vote for Bill Richardson and not gamble the future away to a beatable Hillary, Obama, or Edwards in the next 4 years, otherwise Nevadians would vote for the Republicans, that's just how it is. I'm proud to have spend many days and nights as a Nevadian in Reno and Las Vegas myself. Bill Richardson stands a real good chance of winning Nevada or being in the top 3 there.

Thanks MP for the kind words about Nevada. Hope you come again soon.

Those following the race closely here in NV expect Richardson not to be viable in most precincts, not only because his campaign has become largely invisible but because he thoroughly bombed an question in a televised interview about his support for nuclear power.

The big question is if his inevitable endorsement of Clinton will come before or after Nevada -- and if its before, will his supporters, who are largely anti-Hilary, actually follow his direction.

Glib. Yeah, that's the word for Gus. Iowa is gonna crack the inevitability narrative wide open. The HRC downturn has started. Enjoy the descent, Mr. Glib.

Henry, you misread me. I would like nothing more than for Iowa to begin Clinton's descent -- and for her to lose Nevada to finish her off.

By saying Richardson's endorsement of Clinton is inevitable, I was suggesting that while Richardson now appears to be running openly for VP, he won't be able to push his support to her -- because most of his support is anti-Clinton and will go to other candidates.

By the way, Marc, the scuttlebut making the rounds in Nevada is that the movement is a lot more than 10. You migth want to check back with your sources.

"I was suggesting that while Richardson now appears to be running openly for VP" WHAT??? Who said this? I believe you are wrong. Give the guy a break, all he did is "protect" HRC and now he wants to be her VP?? It's the presidency or back to the greatest job ...Gov. of New Mexico his words not mine. check your sources remember?

Richardson may well win Iowa. He seems to be in the same position John Kerry was at this time. The only question is whether Clinton will falter. So far, there've been a few cracks, but not an implosion. One is still possible. And if Hillary does implode and the inevitability myth goes down the tubes, I think Democrats are likely to turn to the experienced old hand (Richardson) not the eloquent and fire breathing up-and-comers (Obama and Edwards).
