Romney Surges In New Hampshire Poll

19 Nov 2007 04:26 pm

Here's CNN/WMUR's latest offering, taken over the past five days:

ds.JPG

** No appreciable gains for Sen. John McCain over the past two months, even though voters there list Iraq as the most important problem and list McCain as the candidate who can best solve it.

** Immigration and terrorism are top concerns for roughly 15 percent of the electorate each. And more than 40% of voters say that Romney is best able to handle immigration. (He gets high marks for taxes, too).

** Mitt Romney's rising; Giuliani and Thompson are falling. Paul rises within the margin of error.

** 56% of the electorate is undecided.

GO ROMNEY!!!

We'll have to see how this plays out, but I always believed the cream would rise to the top.

As New Englander's would say Romney is wicked smart. There isn't a problem he hasn't solved.

He'll pick up Arizona in the primary and general election after McCain runs out of steam. He is only 4 points behind John McCain in Arizona right now 11/19/2007...

It's time for Pres. Romney

Agreed. Mitt Romney is the smartest and most competent individual running for president. I think America could really use his experience. The more I learn about him, the more I like him.

Romney is showing New Hampshire and Iowa the respect they deserve. They've always lead the path, and the candidate who wins there will lead the nation. You can't ignore the leader states and expect to win.

Romney's media driven detractions from his voting populace are his Mormon faith and self-made wealth, yet these two factors alone define him as the best leader with the strongest principles. Pretty soon the nation will come to their senses and realize that Mormon values are American values. In fact as a Mormon missionary in Japan, my fellow missionaries and I concluded that to convert a Japanese person to Mormonism, we often first had to convert them to Americanism - it worked! And Romney works for America!!

Why will Romney win? All the "most conservative" positioning aside, he is simply the most competent, intelligent person running.

America is tired of 'dumb Bush" jokes. I don't think anyone in their right mind would call Romney "dumb".

He will finally be a President we can be proud of and I think he would meet with tremendous international respect.

Just think Ross Perot without the crazy.

Romney wants to Double Gitmo and has changed his positions more than a chameleon. He's had plenty of time to get his name out, spending 20 Million of his own money to do so. Now the other candidates are about to saturate the airwaves and that soft support for Romney is about to evaporate faster than water droplets spashed onto a hot-plate.

I could care less what his religious values are, I'm more concerned about his political values and trying to match them up with his mecurical positions.

I have no doubt Romney is the smartest and best candidate running this term, and probably for the last five.

I met him last week in person, and the more I read and hear his actual words (not what his opponents print about him), the more I am confident he will outshine the rest.

Romney is the next President of the United States, or we will have no one worthy of the title.

Paul rises within the margin of error.

Actually, in the single digits, I would think that his rise is greater than the margin of error. I was under the impression that +/- 5% only applies to something hovering around 50% - at either tail, the margin of error grows smaller - even if they accounted for that, I would htink that they took the margin of error for the largest campaign, Romney, so Paul's would be lower.

I was under the impression that +/- 5% only applies to something hovering around 50%

More generally, I was under the impression that the standard margin of error given for most polls is the margin for something at the midpoint (50%).

It is incredible to witness Thompson continued crash. His candidacy has been nothing but a complete disappointment. Here is an article about his decline. http://mydryfly.wordpress.com/2007/11/20/paging-fred-thompsonpaging-fred-thompson/

Romney is the king of flip-floppers. This empty suite is a phony conservative unlike Huckabee, Hunter and Paul.

Romney will doom republican party in general election. Romney has the highest negatives and is simple un-electable.

LOL That's pretty funny, Tammy. An empty suite? You must be talking about the Presidential Suite at the Ritz Carlton, n'est ce pas?

Romney has been the most consistent of all Presidential candidates, and is the only one with a snowball's chance of beating Hillary Rodham Clinton. HRC's smear machine will eat up Huckabee (Clinton-esque Arkansas ethical questions, Clinton-esque tax-and-spend liberalism, and Clinton-esque open borders views). Huckabee's faith is the only differentiator. His policies will be more like Hillary's than anyone except Guiliani and McCain. (LOL...I know!)

Mitt Romney is the only top-tier candidate who has had only one wife, and been faithful to her, since he met her in his teenage years.

Mitt Romney is the only candidate to take a $3,000,000,000 deficit and turn it around, in ONE Gubernatorial term, into a $2,000,000,000 rainy day fund.

Mitt Romney is the only candidate who has made a quarter of a billion dollars...ON HIS OWN. He's a self-made man, and is hasn't changed him...except for the better. Now he can give back, like he did in turning around a scandal-plagued (Democrat-controlled) Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympic Games (which was ~$300,000,000 in the red), into the most successful Winter Olympic Games in history (turning nearly $100,000,000 profit).

Mitt Romney is the only candidate to graduate with honors from Harvard Business School, he's "wicked smart," and can express his positions and vision far better than anyone else in the field.

Every state that Mitt Romney has campaigned in has been a turnaround story. Mitt has gone from single digits to the leader in EVERY early primary/caucus state. Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, Michigan, etc. Once he is done, we will see a Republican landslide the likes of which we haven't seen since Reagan vs. Mondale.

Mitt Romney's a genius, with solid conservative credentials, and he doesn't even need to be able to write his campaign checks worth tens of millions of dollars, but he could if he needed to.

Those who oppose him seem to be either partisan Democrats, committed, extreme leftists, Guiliani/McCain/Huckabee/Paul/Thompson fanatics, under-informed conservatives, or religious bigots.

Nobody who looks at Mitt Romney with an open mind can resist the power of the Right SideTM.

It's morning again in America, and the day dawn is about to break!

MITT ROMNEY 2008!

I forgot to mention that the Clinton Smear MachineTM will eat up all others...Huckabee & Giuliani based upon ethics; Giuliani because of his pro-homosexual sodomy-based marriage, anti-second amendment, pro-homosexual sodomy "rights," and pro-abortion-on-demand (funded by taxpayers, of course) views; Thompson because of his support for Bill Clinton during his impeachment trial, as well as for his lobbying on behalf of planned parenthood, as well as his pro-abortion statements; McCain for McCain-Kennedy Amnesty, McCain-Feingold, as well as his history of voting and lobbying against national security imperatives such as "doubling Guantanamo," enhanced interrogation of terrorists, etc...oh, and let's not forget McCain's constant opposition to conservative legislation year after year after year after year...plus, he's just too old; and Ron Paul because he is old enough to be Mitt Romney's dad, a full three Presidential terms OLDER than Mitt Romney, oh, yeah, and his crazy ideas (legalizing prostitution, drugs, etc.).

Republicans don't have much in the way of presidential candidates this time around, but Mitt Romney is the nearly invincible champion that will remind us of how we need another Ronald Wilson Reagan...and will deliver what Reagan did...and more, thanks to the foundation that Ronald Wilson Reagan laid for us, despite decades of neglect and misuse by lesser Presidents.

Romney wins in Iowa and New Hampshire will most likely lead to a win in South Carolina, which is extremely close at the moment. If those three ducks fall into his corner, the hunt is pretty much over, especially as Romney has now moved into 2nd place in Florida.

I was once a Duncan Hunter supporter, who is as rock-ribbed of a conservative as roams these woods. But Romney pretty quickly won me over with his own successes, his family life, his ideas, his intelligence, and his amazing ability to organize people around him--something Hunter has been wholly incapable of.

Results speak far louder than words do for me, and Romney in that respect is going to speak more and more clearly to others as they begin to pay attention. I'm convinced he's going to be the next President.

I'm just happy that Guiliani is sinking. Go McCain! Or really anybody but Guiliani.

Huckabee is socially conservative, but Liberal on spending, and would get eaten alive by HRC. Guiliani is the anti-Huckabee, Liberal on social issues, and moderate on spending so would also be roadkill for HRC.
Mr. Romney is the man who can beat HRC by being both socially conservative and fiscally conservative.
Yet in the end, its ABG. (anybody but Guiliani)
GO ROMNEY!!!
