Ron Paul's Day For Dollars

05 Nov 2007 10:47 am

He's raised $1.5m in a little more than ten hours. Follow the progress on Ron Paul's website.

A better site for examining the progress (assuming you like gory levels of detail) is www.ronpaulgraphs.com . It looks like the campaign will easily exceed the $1.6 million I estimated they would take in for today. Not that they'll reach the pie-in-the-sky $10 million that was originally proposed, but it will still be a huge shot in the arm for them. Personally, I'm rooting for Paul to exceed the numeric goal that Huckabee has set for his November fundraising ($2.067 million) in a single day.

So far, 11,000 have donated an average of around $130. 17,000 signed up to donate, but there were a fairly significant minority who refused to sign on and give their e-mail address. This is a surprise, because the e-mail registration was handled by FeedBurner, a compay that has never spammed or sold e-mail addresses. Nonetheless, it looks like the campaign will haul in at least $2.2 million, and possibly as much as $2.6 million, if things stay on pace as expected.

Note that the record for donations in one day seems to be John Kerry, who raised $2.6 million 2 days after Super Tuesday. This was for the GENERAL election, though, not the primaries, which will make this day even more historical -- and probably difficult to beat (unless we experience hyperinflation soon!).

For those who haven't given, even $10 makes a difference. There are 1 million freedom lovers in the country. $10 each will put RP in the lead of cash-on-hand and available for advertising through February. Even if you're unsure of his ability to be elected, your $10 could be matched by another million, which would blow the doors open in his MSM-fueled name recognition rise.

Its very impressive. While rest of the republican gang is having tough time raising money Paul is doing a very impressive job. Rudy and Mitt both are having tough time. Millionaire Mitt is literally self financing his campaign now.

I thought the record belonged to Mitt Romney for daily fundraising? Can someone find that out?

Anyway, this is amazing. I am very impressed with this effort. Great website too. God I hope Ron Paul wins New Hampshire.

I've heard claims that Obama holds the single-day fundraising record with $3 million. Nothing authoritative though.

Romney's big day came on the day he announced, when he called all his wealthy friends. Obama's big day came when Oprah helped him organized a fundraiser for the Hollywood elite.

Ron Paul's big day is going from thousands and thousands of small donors, giving a little over a hundred bucks a pop. It's much more impressive, even if the total isn't a record. I'm sure it will be a one-day online record, though.

No doubt about it, money does help. Still, the Ron The Paul "Phenomena" is not as dependent upon cash as the other candidates. Lots of "word of mouth" going on. I really doesn't matter if Mitt or Hillbilly pump millions into the P.R. sink, we all know what they have to say. It's the same re-heated (in the case of Rudy "overheated") promises about what they will do to make it a better world for all -- you know, stamp out the enemies we have made (Vietnam, Korea, etc.), raise taxes on the bad guys (they steal from the poor,so we will take their money from them and give it back to the poor folk (fat chance -- Remember the "War on Poverty"?, etc. People really want a real candidate with something real to say. I know many of them, and Paul does have something real to say, it sounds good and is good. No chance to win? Well, better to lose with Paul than win with a loser.

Right now he's raising money at about a $185K per hour rate. I keep wondering if the numbers are going to tail off, but 3 million for the day isn't out of the question at all.

Of course, if he manages to raise $3,115,108 in one day, He will have exceeded everything he'd raised in the Q4 in one day of online activity. (and if that doesn't generate a little buzz, the media is utterly brain-dead)
