From Meet The Press:MR. RUSSERT: This is the 2004 Republican Party platform, and here it is: “We say the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution,” “we endorse legislation to make it clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. Our purpose is to have legislative and judicial protection of that right against those who perform abortions.” Could you run as a candidate on that platform, promising a human life amendment banning all abortions?
MR. THOMPSON: No.
...
MR. THOMPSON: No. I have always—and that’s been my position the entire time I’ve been in politics. I thought Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided. I think this platform originally came out as a response to particularly Roe v. Wade because of that. Before Roe v. Wade, states made those decisions. I think people ought to be free at state and local levels to make decisions that even Fred Thompson disagrees with. That’s what freedom is all about. And I think the diversity we have among the states, the system of federalism we have where power is divided between the state and the federal government is, is, is—serves us very, very well. I think that’s true of abortion. I think Roe v. Wade hopefully one day will be overturned, and we can go back to the pre-Roe v. Wade days. But...
MR. RUSSERT: Each state would make their own abortion laws.
MR. THOMPSON: Yeah. But, but, but to, to, to have an amendment compelling—going back even further than pre-Roe v. Wade, to have a constitutional amendment to do that, I do not think would be the way to go.

I did a search for "immig" on each of the six pages and found nothing. Maybe $omeone could explain why that wa$n't mentioned, con$idering that Thomp$on ha$ the be$t plan out of the front-runner$. (Of cour$e, there'$ no guarantee he actually mean$ it, but why completely ignore hi$ plan? It'$ a my$tery to me!)
Thomson is as dumb as they come. He is simple a clueless guy. Thomson like many other republicans have very close ties to criminals and mob. Thomson's co-chair whose plane Thomson has been using for champaign turns out to be a criminal. So Rudy has staff that includes criminal and child abusers. Romney's security guy turns out to be a fraud and his co-chair looks for gay sex in public restrooms. Family values at display! Latest from kos.. Need Drugs? Call Thompson's Co-Chair What is it with Republicans? If they're not getting arrested themselves, they're buddying up with criminals. Republican presidential candidate Fred D. Thompson has been crisscrossing the country since early this summer on a private jet lent to him by a businessman and close adviser who has a criminal record for drug dealing. [...] Martin entered a plea of guilty to the sale of 11 pounds of marijuana in 1979; the court withheld judgment pending completion of his probation. He was charged in 1983 with violating his probation and with multiple counts of felony bookmaking, cocaine trafficking and conspiracy. He pleaded no contest to the cocaine-trafficking and conspiracy charges, which stemmed from a plan to sell $30,000 worth of the drug, and was continued on probation. And of course, Thompson, who has been friends with Martin since the early 1990's, had no idea. And Larry Craig didn't know that playing footsie in a public restroom could be misconstrued.
Dan wins the award for Dumbest Commenter at Marc Ambinder's website for the month of November. But just to reassure Dan: I don't know who "Thomson" is, but if it is true that "he is simple a clueless guy," I'll be sure not to vote for him.
Fred gets it. He is the only one that understands the concepts of Federalism. This is how our country was designed. We have much more success at state levels getting things accomplished than at the National Government level. Fred is the most Pro Life candidate out there but he is also smart enough to realize that a Constitutional Amendment will never pass but when we leave it in the state's hands, they get it right. Fred is honest and straightforward, unlike the majority of his competition.
Dan is right. Fred did not have a clue about so many current issues. For example, Fred did not have a clue about Teri Schivo episode, Everglades issue, his co-chair's criminal background, differenece between gay marriage and cilvil unions. For Fred's 'yes men' here just google them and you will find a long list of how clueless and lazy Fred is.
Thomson is just not a conservative. He ran as pro-choice liberal to the sneate in 90s. A guy who is married multiple times and whose current trophy wife is 25 years younger than him can not be a conservative of the caliber of Mitt and Huckabee.
Mike Huckabee is the only true social conservative! Find out more about him here: http://www.mikehuckabee.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=VerticalDay.Home&l=50F49E7D03868E58F54AA1ED674B0C61

I have been looking around at different information from place to place. And I see so many points of view. But I hope to something other then GOD that we do not pass any amendment taking even more freedom away from the people. No one should be able to tell someone what to do. And as long as I live back ally abortions will survive!!

A new state poll from Kentucky has Thompson barely inching Obama, and Clinton being competitive too.
