AFSCME Steps Up Anti-Obama Spending

27 Dec 2007 06:03 pm

According to their latest FEC filing, an American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees politics fund plans to spend around $40K to distribute informational cards through the mail in New Hampshire that oppose candidate "Barrack Obama."

That's Barack with one "r," guys.

A separate AFSCME political committee reported spending $70K today on pro-Clinton mailings in Iowa and New Hampshire.

New Iowa and New Hampshire numbers from the LA Times have just been released and both states are toss-ups on the Democratic side, though the GOP races are more clear.

So. The union representing some of the most unpleasant, incompetent individuals that the rest of us ever encounter (aka: "government employees") supports a Clinton nomination. Given that every union only looks out for their own interest when supporting a candidacy, that should tell us something about the REAL nature of a Clinton presidency. It'll be business as usual.

What an odious, trollish thing to say. I've certainly met government employees who were none too pleasant to deal with, just like I've met private sector employees who positively sucked. But I've also met government employees who are a delight to deal with. My postman, for instance. My first grade teacher. The friendly guy who took my toll money last night. The very helpful, reasonable IRS employee who helped me work out a manageable payment plan when I owed them money. Oh, and the state police officer who helped my family when I was a kid and we were in a nasty car accident on Christmas day back in the 80s.

January of 2009 can't come a moment too soon. The extremist ideologues currently occupying the White House are running the country into the ground.

OK, these folks do realize Sen. Obama is a Democrat, right? Because it's getting odd over here. What if he were to win? This cannot be good for our party to have Democrats having a fit over absolutely nothing. Who cares which Democrat wins or not? I'm pro-Obama because I think he's the best candidate and he can actually govern whereas Hillary is so polarizing, her 4 (I won't assume she'll get 8) years in office will be Clinton-Bush all over again with each side at the other's neck and nothing getting done. Man, we sure know how to pick candidates in our Party. Unlike us, the GOP pick as if they were on American Idol while we chose base on who finished first at Yale! (Sigh)
