« Edwards Buys Register Ad, TV Time For 2nd And 3rd | Main | Obama's Campaign Manager Makes The Case » Alert: Des Moines Register's Iowa Poll Out Tonight...31 Dec 2007 09:37 am Comments (6)
I think that movement is called "statistical noise", since none of the movement is outside of the 3.3 margin of error.
Clinton will hold lead by 4 points in last Des Moines Register poll.
BH: You know this because... zogby and ARG, the two least trusted of all the pollsters by her peers, (pollster.com) show her up by 4-7 points while everyone else shows an almost exact dead heat?
The Register intends to be a player (i.e., the decider) here in Iowa. Their poll usually comes out, somehow, the way they want it to. In '04, they sat on the results of their last poll before the Caucuses for 3 days before releasing them, to try to control the effect. Their endorsements were out of line with most others' reasoning at the time. In other words, not to be trusted completely, any more than other members of the mainstream media.
I was less surprised by the Democratic line-up than I was by the Republican. Huckabee's not-ready for prime time remarks following the assasination of PM Bhutto and Romney's movement don't appear in this poll; could the same be true of the much vaunted "Edwards surge." This poll has a very good track record, much better than the Iowa caucuses themselves. We'll have to see what Thursday brings.

This morning's Zogby tracker showed the following movement over the past 24 hours:
+2 Edwards
-1 Clinton
-1 Obama
