If his own faith isn't a reason to vote for him, then why does he run ads in Iowa that cite him as a "Christian Leader" and why does he actively preach in churches across the nation? Hypocrisy?
Not only is he a hypocrite, he's misrepresenting the "status" of the FORMER Minuteman organizer who endorsed him yesterday. Bill Gilchrist left the orig. Minuteman group under a cloud of financial mismanagement and turned to neo-Nazi skinheads and white supremacists to form his second group. Agreed. He's pimping his Southern Baptist preacher-status to attract fundamentalist Christians and undermine Romney's Mormonism.
"If I don't bring it up, people are always asking me, tell me about Mitt Mormon, I mean Mitt Romney's religion." Mitt Mormon: the new Barack Osama?
I think he made his views very clear, its a media hitjob.
Why would he apologize to "all mormons"? It would be like asking "do catholics believe the pope is infallible?" which honestly, the answer would be yes. But a person could say that they have no interest in making the election based on whether Mormonism is true or not, and apologize to the catholic candidate. Or if Romney asked in an interview "don't baptists believe in the trinity?" - Mormons and JWs don't, but the Baptist would answer "yes." Or, don't southern baptists officially consider Mormonism a cult? The honest answer would be yes, officially. Just like officially LDS, on their website, teaches the "spirit brothers" doctrine.
WorldNetDaily is reporting that on the LDS website it says that Mormons believe Jesus and Satan are brothers. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=59168 Read the article for yourself.
waitaminute - There's a story on this at WorldNetDaily, which links to the official LDS website. The LDS website itself teaches that Jesus and Satan are brothers. Bullshit, bigot. It does not teach they are bothers in our biological kinship sense of the word, and the distinction is critical. The teaching is God created Jesus 1st, and that the angels were his creation as well later, and of their number Satan was the most powerful and ambitious and fell on his pride and defiance of God. In the Mormon theological sense, all Gods creations are part of that brotherhood that stems from creation. But that is not the end of the theology, which then details why Satan is no true brother in the human sense of Christ and Satans being family siblings. In no sense were Jesus and Satan coequal or the same in their nature. Christ was never an angel, but a higher power. Huckabee apologized because he knew his "speculation" invited false inferences from layman.
"Why would he apologize to "all mormons"? For the same reason he apologized to Mitt Romney. After all, the article did not mention Romney by name, remember Huckabee told us he was just having a chat with the NYTimes reporter about Mormonism when he asked the "innocent" question. Why would he single out his opponent for an apology when the article didn't even reference him. Because we all know excactly what Huck was doing, and the fact that he only apologized to Romney shows that he knew it too.
Jesus isn't created, that's what Christians believe, He created the angels, some of whom rebelled. He's not some creature. It's insulting to the Creator of the all things for someone to claim that he is a creature, since all glory and honor and power and authority belongs to Him. That's not being bigoted, since you just said they were brothers. I understand your explanation, I know that its false because God's Word says so. Read the New Testament, Jesus is no creature.
You know, it's not just the Evangelicals having trouble with Romney's parsing on faith. Intellectual Catholics are likewise concerned. http://jimmyakin.typepad.com/defensor_fidei/2007/12/not-impressed.html What is profoundly sad is that team Romney grabs the most extreme language in talking about voters' discomfort with Romney's religion to attempt and shame all Huckabee supporters into cowering at being called "bigots". It could be that Huckabee appeals to regular Iowans and Romney failed in this respect. The one thing that could save Romney is if he sincerely acknowledges that he's failed to connect with voters in a personal way and stop hiding behind the politics of nasty. And I say that only because the pro-Romney blogs and Romney supporter comments have been nothing but nasty during this season of Advent. That's a real turn on for potential supporters.
Believer...
Who wouldve thunk it? Yawwn.

Wouldn't the apology seem even more sincere if we heard about it from Romney and not from Huckabee? And instead of going on TV telling us that he apologized to Romney he could have used the time to apologize to all Mormons. After all, his comment was not just spiteful to Romney but all of that faith.
He made a mistake, but he's still trying to capitalize on it for himself. How very sad.
