watch Huckabee say "eastern border" on MSNBC.

Not to pick on Gov. Huckabee, but -- again -- in times of crises, little details count. Pakistan shares its western border with Afghanistan ... Not an eastern border.

GOV. HUCKABEE: People who questioned my view of foreign policy probably need go back and read the speech that I delivered back in Washington in September. I talked about Pakistan and the delicate situation and the fact that at that time when the three people, Sharif, Bhutto, and Musharraf all in the bid for the leadership position, how delicate it was and how while Bhutto probably brought the most pro-American position, both she and Sharif brought essentially centrist and secular perspectives to the government. We have seen what happen in the Musharraf government, he has told us he does not have enough control of those eastern borders near Afghanistan to be able go after the terrorists. but on the other hand, did he not want us going in.

Marc, why are you helping the Republicans to torpedo Huckabee? Let the religious right have their candidate so we will see how many crazy fundamentalists there are in America --- I'm guessing not a majority.

You gotta be frickin' kidding me. THIS is worth posting on your blog?

It's not like it's a slow news day, Marc.

I don't think Huckabee is the brightest bulb.

"If I only had a brain..." I hear Karl Rove is available.

Huck a wreck. He's about as bad as Fred when it comes to misstatements and lack of understanding on current events.

Oooh, I'm so looking forward to the daily Huckfest if this guy gets the nod. There will be no slow news days. He'll make his own news...

Goethean, Mark is not the only one who has expressed concerns with Huckabee's governing experiences. There actually are over 60 of conservatives pundits who have said the same, including Joseph Farah of World Net Daily fame! Here is the link of the list of those conservatives and their comments (disclaimer: site is maintained by a Mitt supporter, but he was making a point that it was not Romney campaign who was attacking Huckabee as Huckabee claims only Mitt to do so.)

Pastor Mike is a lightweight on foreign policy. He would scare me to death in the White House. His "folksy manner" has made him a darling of the media, not because he has anything useful to say, but precisely because he doesn't. The MSM loves a shallow republican that they can pin their hopes on, so that the Dems can slaughter him next November. His comments yesterday about the situation in Pakistan made my skin crawl. First, he "apologizes" for the act of a Islamic terrorist, then he talked about "continuing martial law" when such was discontinued several weeks ago. I won't even mention his fiscal liberalism to go along with his foreign policy liberalism. If it weren't for the Democrat's stand on certain social issues, I am convinced that Pastor Mike would have run and been elected as a Democrat in Arkansas. The same people who elected Bill Clinton elected Mike. Hmmm...

The alternative here, folks, is a solid leader who doesn't make foreign policy gaffes every time he opens his mouth, but instead is well versed on every foreign policy challenge we face. Plus, he is a fiscal conservative who will put Washington on a diet and bring sound management principles to the business of governing. And finally, he is a leader in the fight against the imperative moral issues of our time, having stood up and fought in the bluest of blue states for life and traditional marriage. Who is he? Governor Mitt Romney. The only reason, the ONLY reason, he is not running away with the nomination, and the ONLY reason that Pastor Mike now has any support above the 5% that he had all year, is that Governor Romney is a Mormon. But there are millions of evangelicals nationwide who support him nonetheless. Give him a second look. He's the full-spectrum conservative who has all the right stuff. www.evangelicalsformitt.com

Oh my, What the Huck's comment, though silly, has me more worried than anything. What objective, intelligent, educated, reasonable expert would affiliate him or herself with Huckabee? Even those experts with whom he has consulted go to great lengths to distance themselves from him. Do we need this? I'm worried about the mediocre administration of also-rans that this man would attract. It would be entirely populated with fellow attention seekers yearning for self aggrandizement.

Let's rise above the mire of modern politics and elect someone above the fray. Someone we can respect, and who is eminently respectful. Someone with whom and for whom we could all be proud to associate. Someone who exemplifies and brings out the best in all of us. Someone who puts country before self. Governor Romney is a much better fit for this bill.

Ambinder has money on Intrade.

I read Huckabee's speech on foreign policy, delivered at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.

Huckabee said, "Many Iranians are well-disposed toward us. We should remember that on 9/11, while there was dancing in the street in other parts of the Muslim world, there were candlelight vigils and mourning in Tehran. When we first invaded Afghanistan, Iran helped us, especially in our dealings with their allies, the Northern Alliance. They wanted to join us in fighting Al Qaeda, hoping this would lead to better U. S.-Iranian relations. The CIA and the State Department supported this partnership, but some in the White House and Pentagon did not. When President Bush included Iran in his Axis of Evil, everything went downhill fast. As the only presidential candidate with a theology degree, along with years of political experience, I know that theology is black and white, but politics is not. My enemy today on one issue is my friend tomorrow on another." (emphasis added)

He promotes his false theology degree credential and then wants us to consider that the guy with a missile pointed toward the US could be my friend tomorrow?

This is "sandbox" theology meant for children. Keep such teachings in the playgrounds of Arkansas but out of the Middle East.

"I know that theology is black and white"

Oh, really?

This is a statement that should be broadcast as an open-mouth blunder, too. Why would anyone want another Jimmy Carter in office?

Marc--while Huckabee certainly was incorrect, you should whip out a map yourself. The Pak. border w/Afghanistan would be most accurately characterized as their NORTHERN or maybe nortwestern border. Western is more w/Iran. Huckabee's a shmo but glass houses & all that.

I am a Canadian who was reading Huckabee’s statement about Pakistany (or is it Pakistanis) would be terrorists breaching your obviously pourous border. It immediately occured to me that there must be more sneaky yet cute and harmless illegal Canadians than those would be terroristic above mentioned folks crossing over. I was ammused to read on and discover I was right in my assumption, and officialy knew more abooot your foreign policy than Governor Huckabee. Alright eh!

Simple transposition, a dyslexic moment at worst.
