The type of music that generally accompanies patriotic imagery... upbeat and somber, both at once. No narrator.

One of the best closing ads I've ever seen, imo. She covers it all, and it's beautifully done.
I watched this ad and immediately wondered if Barack Obama and John Edwards were going to keep me safe. In these troubled times, do they have a steady hand for the rudder of State? Will my children be senselessly murdered by terrorists if Hillary is not nominated? These are the questions that haunt me.
On Hardball tonight, they were talking about this ad and saying there was a consious decision to not use her voice at all because people don't like it. Apart from that, I don't think the presidential, west-wing vibe really fits Hillary. The thing is that despite her institutional advantages, Hillary has always seemed much less presidential than Obama. There' no magic or cadence with Hillary, nor is there any real presence to her. I see the soaring music as overcompensation for the candidate's inherent flaws and it ends up coming accross over done and laying it on just a bit too thick.
Highly effective ad. I think she was fortunate to get her "dip" out of the way in November and early December, because she seems to be once again gathering steam -- at exactly the right time.
How many folks think that this is a general election ad? She's not looking at the primaries, that's for sure. Note to HRC: You're no longer inevitable! http://www.political-buzz.com/
she should not have had the "and renew our greatness" tag repeated at the end with a picture of herself.
Wow! I am an enthusiastic Obama supporter. However, I think he may have just lost the Iowa caucus. People will connect with that ad emotionally. It's an old school 1980s Reagan ad. Damn..
Nice ad but way overdone. When I saw the first image of the soliders helmet, I thought Hillary had a hand in putting that solider in harms way. How can she make us safe, when her judgement was so wrong. Then I read the NY Times article on her experience. No security clearance, no input into policy, etc. And then all the smoke faded. If she can't keep Bill from the interns, how is she going to keep terrorist away from us.
Hillary Clinton's new tag line is "A new beginning." Coming from a women who is infamous for her failed leadership in the 1993 health care debacle, it's quite ironic to hear her claim she represents a "new beginning." They obviously perceive Obama's change message to be stronger than their specious experience argument, so now they're attempting to borrow his message and apply it to her flagging candidacy. Kids, this is why Mark Penn earns big money.
Hillary Clinton's new tag line is "A new beginning." Coming from a women who is infamous for her failed leadership in the 1993 health care debacle, it's quite ironic to hear her claim she represents a "new beginning." You obviously don't know the meaning of the word "ironic." HRC's ad is making the rather obvious point that changing from George Bush to Hillary Clinton would mean a fresh start. Her political experiences in the 1990s -- I believe even the mistakes and travails only add to her experience -- don't detract from this "fresh start" in the least.
Clinton campaign intern, Idaho Field Office (aka Independents for Hillary): Shouldn't you be in bed?
DemocratsAgainstHillary,
Wow. So she'll "solve our problems" and "re-build the middle class", eh? Phew. She must be a pretty powerful person to be able to single-handedly do things like that. Clinton's camp has obviously read the polling data that suggests that her appeal is strongest to those who are the least-educated. This ad, with its simplistic phrases and cornball imagery, is clearly designed to appeal to those who are uninterested in serious questions or serious thoughts.
MSNBC's Chris Matthews and Newsweek's Howard Fineman both commented that Iowa voters didn't like her voice, so the Clinton campaign decided to use music with no narrator. Not good news for Hillary.
Hillary Clinton - Because picking new White House china and failing miserably at your one political priority prepare you for the Presidency.
They should have had Bill's voice at the end: "Muh wuhfe is Hillary Clint'n and she approves this mess'ge."
It is over for Obama (less energy last two weeks after Shaheen on TV and Bill on Rose attacks) and Edwards. The Clinton Machine wins on Jan. 3. Clinton's VP include: Bill Richardson and Bob Kerrey. It is over. The reason for Obama's defeat: - Less energy than Clinton Machine.
Wow. So she'll "solve our problems" and "re-build the middle class", eh? Phew. She must be a pretty powerful person to be able to single-handedly do things like that. One strongly suspects her plans include eschewing "single-handed" efforts in favor of working with a Democratic majority Congress, idiot. Can't we have better trolls?
Uh huh. Remember when a Democratic majority Congress was so dismayed by the political havoc her health care plan would wreak that they didn't even bring the thing forward for a vote. Yeah - THAT's a record of effective leadership. The only chance the Republicans have of winning next year is if Clinton is the Dem nominee. So if you support her, go ahead, but keep in mind that you'll have no one to blame but yourself if some moron like Huckabee is sworn in.
The only chance the Republicans have of winning next year is if Clinton is the Dem nominee. Horsefeathers. There's no guarantee for anybody. At this early stage, Edwards looks like he's clearly the most formidable Democratic nominee -- especially in terms of his ability to hold the GOP's feet to the fire southern and border states. But as for Hillary vs. Obama, I think this is a big mystery. Yeah, I know, the love a lot of liberals feel for the Kumbayah kid is just going to magically spread like pixie dust over the Republicans, and they'll find no way to paint the inexperienced, liberal, Java-raised product of big city Democratic machine politics in exactly the manner they choose. Yup, there's no way at all the Republicans will find a way to compete against his Oprahmic Majesty.
She was ahead of her time with healthcare reform–you and everyone of your ilk would be better off had the healthcare system been overhauled when Bill was in office. It's a major burden on our economy now. And what is this "single-handed" garbage? Does any candidate out there have an ad that boasts of working hand in hand/lockstep with Congress or the Senate? We're finally concluding the era of single-handed ignorance and simple-minded governance. Just because you don't like Hillary doesn't mean she can't be a good president. Look at how many people found our current leader to be totally relate-able– and he's a complete and total moron.
WOW Something negative about Hillary Clinton from Chris Matthews (little Stewie) & Howard Finneman. That's a news story right there & so unpredictable.

Troubles at "home"? Weather the "storm"?
I dunno, the puns are a little too cute in an ad you accurately describe as "somber".
