Planned Parenthood

18 Dec 2007 02:34 pm

Optic wise, it sucks, yes.

But Is there anything new to be said about Gov. Mitt Romney and abortion? Horrors. Not only did his wife contribute to Planned Parenthood. In 1994. But -- the contribution was drawn from the couple's joint account. And -- Romney attended the fundraiser. In the midst of a busy campaign, Where he attended dozens and dozens of fundraisers.

Really?

Mitt Romney has admitted changing his mind on abortion. He's never denied the fact of his pro-choice inclinations. And can he be possibly expected to remember from precisely which bank account -- remember, he's a rich guy, and he has a lot of them -- he wrote a check from?

There's no real story here -- nothing telling about Romney today and his fitness to be president. Only that a rival campaign, desperate to discredit Romney, is piggybacking on an old story to twist the knife in his back. And it may work.

Oh Marc you are SO cute!

I love how this kind of image-based event is SO SILLY for the media to report when it comes to Republicans...

but when, oh let's say it's a haircut for John Edwards (AND he has a BIG HOUSE!!) then the story is wildly informative and is well worth keeping alive because it tells voters so much about the guy.

Do you think maybe this little picture simply reinforces that Mitt is a rudderless snake-oil salesman? One who flops more than a Tom Cruise film? Hmmm?

Oh that's right, no story here! No story!

Vote Republican!

Marc... Betty in Baltimore has a point!

Yeah, protest too much?

Mitt's been far less than candid about his involvement in the Planned Parenthood giving, suspiciously right during his Senate run. Do you really think some one as calculating as Romney wasn't aware of his wife's donation to a controversial organization like Planned Parenthood in the middle of his Senate run? Please.

Marc, are you a campaign spokesman for Romney?

It is clear that Romney LIED about this entire incident. When this came to light few months back he blamed it on his wife saying it was all his wife's doing and he had nothing to do with Planned Parenthood.

And now what comes out is that Romney personally ATTENDED Planned Parenthood fundraiser!!!!! A politician does not go to a fundraiser unless you believe in it's cause.

Romney is a LIAR. He can't be personally against abortion since the beginning and still attend Planned Parenthood fundraisers and donate!

Well, yes, AJ.

I take it you aren't married.

That or you are in the dark about the fact that you and the missus may not be on the same wavelength on each issue.

My wife HUNTS and still gives money to PETA. I gave up calling her on logic a long time ago. And since Romney was more liberal in 1994, what concern should he have that his wife's donation would affect him in the slightest politically. Back then he was a liberal Republican like his Dad George Romney was.

One has to agree with McCain that Romney is a untrustworthy flip-flopper.

here is the news from The Nashua Telegraph:

CONCORD – Republican hopeful Sen. John McCain, of Arizona, launched an attack – a direct mail campaign labeling New Hampshire primary front-runner Mitt Romney as a serial flip-flopper that "voters can't trust.''

The mailing is believed to be the first, campaign-paid flier in New Hampshire by any candidate critical of former Massachusetts Gov. Romney, who holds onto a solid lead in GOP primary polls here.

The two-page flier cites a May 2007 article in the Tampa Tribune, which states Romney had once supported allowing illegal immigrants to "apply for citizenship and permanent residency''

It then refers to Romney's decision to re-hire a firm after it had been found to have used illegal immigrants to work on his Belmont, Mass., home.

"Like so many times before, Mitt Romney advocated totally inconsistent, policy positions,'' the mailing states.

"That's why voters don't trust Mitt Romney.

"No wonder why Mitt Romney is trying to cover up his own mixed-up record by smearing straight-talking John McCain.''

Romney is a "slick willy". He will say and do anything to win election. This guy has no convictions at all.

That Romney is a LIAR I suppose is not a story.

Everyone knows it.

Freedom requires religion.. right?

Getting elected in MA requires Romney to be Pro-Choice.

Getting elected in republic primary for presidency requires Romney to be Anti-Choice.

What a fraud!

A politician does not go to a fundraiser unless you believe in it's cause.

Now Todd, I see it is likely you are not married or a politician!

I am in limited thrall to my wife and go to events I don't care about in the slightest. A dibber fundraiser for obese children?
Or events of groups that I dislike but am expected to attend as a corporate face.

And you seem to value inflexible minds. Romney was against abortion restrictions ---then ---not having a closed mind ----actually used it and reconsidered.
People do that. People that have brains and who are open to new facts and opinions, at least. And it is fun to see the stunted minds that consider anyone changing a stance at anytime in their life as a "flip-flopper". Nothing says idiot more than a stubborn person who mistakes inflexibility for "true committment" and rails against those changing opinions based on their human reasoning skills as LIARS...

Yes, people who thought Kerry was a flipflopper in 2004 are all IDIOTS.

Multiple Choice Mitt - Because One Answer is Never Enough!

It's fun watching the liberal MSM treating Huck with kid gloves on the assumption that he'll be weak in the general. If he did indeed win the nomination, all of a suddden the MSM would be making a huge deal out of issues it is now choosing to remain relatively silent on. Oh well, when 80%+ of the MSM vote Dem, it's not surprising. Amusing though. I've never seen so much liberal love for an evangelical! lmao.

It's clear who the MSM does NOT want to win, and that is Mitt Romney. Hmmm....

Uh..Mr. McCain and I supposed he's never flip-flopped...oh but wait...he's all of of a sudden realized the error of his ways and doesn't want to support his failed immigration bill that he tried to stuff down our throats (secretly). Where's the straight talk there?

This was old news, Mitt's said he was wrong, I'm OK with that, he's on the right side now. Mitt came from a family where a relative died from an abortion and his mother also ran on it..so I understand where Mitt might have come from....having that in his background. I also understand, being a male...that I never have to think about these things unless there's an election, etc. Mitt never had to think much about it until he was a politician and he had a position based on his background of his mom and relative. Then when he actually had to make decision based on stem cell legislation he decided to research it and discuss it with doctors, etc., and came to a conclusion. He's not set in his ways...and I'm glad.

Hmmm what an interestingly timed hit piece. So much for independent journalism. Romney has attended hundreds of political events and thousands of gatherings--and you are trying to nail him for something fourteen years ago? Ridiculous and desperate. The libs will never forgive golden boy Mitt for his conversion to life. Yet, they castigate Bush for stubbornly refusing to move from entrenched positions. You can't have it both ways. If you want conservatives to migrate to the left, you can't get upset with moderates who migrate right.
