Romney Hits Huck On Immigration In New Ad

10 Dec 2007 06:25 pm

What does this mean?

It means that the Romney campaign has decided that the press won't cover Huckabee fairly -- in Iowa.

It means that the campaign is willing to risk a backlash in order to hit Huckabee where he is most vulnerable.

It means their internal polls confirm what the public polls are saying.

It means that Romney is now wedded to an engagement model -- that is, he now has to attack Huckabee daily.

The decision to run this ad is not universally popular within Romney's campaign, judging from some early e-mail traffic.

It is a shame that the momentum of the illegal immigration nightmare, has resorted to THEM and US! But for the majority of the American population, its about the "RULE of LAW." It's about a troubled economy! It's about our sovereignty, our flag our language. It's about the difference between legal and illegal! Whatever your origin of birth, you are welcome no matter what your ethnic makeup, as long as you entered through the front door with the permission of the American taxpayer? We are a nation of citizen-Americans (85%), but in this century of a 300 million population and climbing, its about about drinking water and supplying energy to every community. Have you seen our highway systems lately? No person in their right mind enjoys the madness of traffic congestion, that is escalating daily. What is the major cause of "Road Rage"? Funny I never heard of these menacing conflicts on our streets back in the 50's? We can no longer as a country afford to support the millions of uneducated, poor of the world. We have become a magnet for people who want to feed their families, protect themselves from the corrupt governments. Americans are compassionate, very giving and have a philanthropist nature, but there are limits to supporting the hungry and destitute of this planet. We certainly are not the benevolent people as we once were? Taxpayers, the middle class; the white and blue collar workers are strained to even feed their own families. Yet by federal mandate we are forced to feed, house, clothe and care for wave upon wave of illegal foreign nationals. This is unjust, completely unfair and a travesty of our safety-net for our own needful citizens.
There is a building storm that could tear the very fabric of American society to shreds. We are in a period of a revolutionary mind, enacting the time of colonial loyalists and revolutionaries, because the U.S. citizen is not getting the representation they are ensured of by our Constitution. Within the midst of are many anti -American entities, who are threatening our Constitutional law and the oath of allegiance. People who legally come here must want to be an American first, and citizen should form ranks and become as ONE? Every ethnic group no matter their origin, should repudiate any un-American group, of which their are many! If we do not stand together, unite against a common enemy; our representative republic may not survive? . Our national sovereignty will vanish like the Roman Empire? We know who the traitors are; some are hidden behind non-profits, that taxpayer unknowingly support. Yet they ultimate goal is to destroy our way of life. Not only are we attacked from within, but also from foreign nations like Mexico, whose previous President demanded we accept their poor workers unconditionally. Then there is the International globalist, open border, free market machine, that underscores the peoples Will at every turn? All legal people, all nationalities, all races, religions should get involved, because their is an internal movement out there, to destroy our great nation. Not with bombs, not with bullets, but by destroying our freedom of "FREE SPEECH."

Perhaps like never before, America is on the brink of collapsing into an unholy mess? This 2008 national election could certainly be the final gasp of a once, powerful nation. Today we are confronted with immigrants who have no intention of assimilation, to them we are the cash-cow, the free handout, because our government says says we must? We as a nation, a people has been sold to the highest bidder. Our country is heading downward spiral, because the powerful corporate cartels own the majority of our politicians? Our border are in jeopardy, our ports, our infrastructure. Worse than being sold to a commercial enterprise, we have become ignorant that even our highways are up for grabs. What next toll-booths on the F-R-E-E ways, because some consortium has taken possession? What happened to the great American steel industry? What happened to shoes that said "Made in America." Even if you wanted to buy a pair of shoes that were manufactured HERE on these shores? All the time the Communist Chinese are building a War machine, for what? Why does our stupid, liberal press decry anybody who speaks out?

Before this President steps down, we must be aware of the decisions we make for our children's future? Before we go to the ballot box to vote, that is our right; who are going to vote for? The one's who see the mass numbers of illegal immigrants, as a voting power who can keep them in power, no matter the consequences? Or equally dangerous the NEOCOMS who want to stifle America workers with illegal aliens counterparts, who see unparalleled numbers as unheard of profit. You, the taxpayer are presented with a tax bill, along with future generations. Then there is the estimated profit to U.S. corporations and businesses employing illegal aliens in 2005 which was more than $2.36 TRILLION dollars; The cost of immigration to the American taxpayer in 1997 was a NET (after subtracting taxes immigrants pay) $70 BILLION a year, [Professor Donald Huddle, Rice University]; the cost is MANY TIMES GREATER now in 2006! In 2006 the average cost of each Illegal Alien here is 11,000.00 per year for American Taxpayers! Then according to Center for Immigration Studies and the tax burden will grow -- because 15 million more immigrants are set to arrive by year 2017 according to their latest research. according to Center for Immigration Studies and the tax burden will grow -- because 15 million more immigrants are set to arrive by year 2017 according to their latest research. More than 10 million immigrants have arrived since year 2000; it is estimated that nearly 6 million are illegal. All told, the group of immigrants now account for 38 million at the moment according to the White House's own census bureau.

This continuous tide of unfortunate poor from across our Southern border, South America or any other third world country, is devastating to our economy We are teeming with foreign national and their families, seeking a better life. Many have come here to harm us, intentionally, while others have imported less-known contagious diseases, unintentionally. But when they started demanding that taxpayers pay for interpreters in the courts, voting ballots; is yet another burden upon the U.S. taxpayer and unfortunately their needs are being favored by our weak politicians. Comes along The "SAVE ACT" that can alleviate much of the frustration and anger of the American citizen. Using of penalties from predator employers of heavy fines and confiscation of business profits, would pay exceedingly well for internal enforcement?

Emphasizing the principles of Attrition Through Enforcement. The SAVE Act (H.R. 4088) will broaden and enhance border security and interior enforcement. CONTACT YOUR (Public Servant) SENATOR OR CONGRESSMAN/WOMEN TO CO-SPONSOR THE "SAVE ACT."
ITS IMPERATIVE TO TELL ALL FAMILY, RELATIVES & FELLOW WORKERS TO SPREAD THIS URGENT MESSAGE!

The Iowans who vote, in New Hampshire and specifically in Nevada should remember this, when they arrive at the Caucuses, the Primaries, do not underestimate your influence in the 2008 National election?

You are the voter, you are your families future, you are the food on the table. The "SAVE ACT" is the first step to STOP; to Stop for good, the erosion of your pay check. You are saying NO! to the predator employers, who sell you down the economic river? No more free welfare for big business--They either hire American workers of any race! Or they can have a FIRE SALE!

Ugh! I don't like the voice-over person's voice.

Criminals did NOT build America; Citizens and LEGAL immigrants built it. Illegal Aliens and Immigration is NOT the same thing. 80% of the American people want an end to anarchy! This is NOT a Democrat, Republican, Independent issue. It's an American Issue.

Illegal aliens are criminals, those who hire them are criminals and those who aid-and-abet them are criminals.

Illegal aliens in America have NO rights. We are required by law to arrest and prosecute, deport them. (Title 8 U.S. Code) To report illegal aliens call the DHS National Hotline 1 866 DHS 2ICE. (1-866-347-2523)

No, matter your political party affiliation, and setting aside your thoughts on issues. We all need to remember what it is to be an American Citizen. We need to make sure our elected representatives obey their Oath of Office and keep their Oath of Allegiance. See http://tinyurl.com/2znnvl Know whom you are voting for.

This isn't because Romney thinks that the press isn't covering Huckabee "fairly." The ad is out because Huck is rapidly building an insurmountable lead and Mitt's campaign is uber-scared. Immigration brought down McCain, so why not try it with Huckabee?

http://www.political-buzz.com/

Just to add a dose of accuracy to these comments, being present in the U.S. without a valid immigration status is a civil, not a criminal, violation. Those violations are adjudicated in immigration courts, which are administrative tribunals set up by the Department of Justice (and are not located in the judicial branch).

The reason for the ad is that 35% of the Iowans who are most concerned about illegal immigration....for whom it is their number 1 issue....are supporting Huckabee. If championing illegal immigration were an Olympic event, Huck, McCain, and probably Rudy as well, would be fighting it out for the Gold Medal. If Romney can educate just half of the 35% about Huck's record on the issue, he will win the caucuses easily.

Is htere any way Huckabee does not get the nomination at this point? A new South Carolina poll just released this evening has him surging ahead to an 11% lead!! Unthinkable, completely unthinkable two weeks ago.

Huckabee would be better dealing with immigration then Romney. At least the Romney ads admit that Huckabee is against abortion and gay marriage. Looks like its a two-man race in Iowa.

Great news for dems. They can use the exact same ads against Huckabee or Romney in general election. Dems only need to say this is what one republican candidate says about this republican candidate. The republicans are going in flames for sure.

If Huckabee can get the word out about his immigration plan (it's on his website at www.mikehuckabee.com), then Romney's ad will be nullified. It is a very strong plan -- border fence -- no amnesty, etc. The problem is that Huck doesn't have Mitt's bucks to pay for ads to counter this. Huckabee needs to go on the news shows and make sure he mentions his anti-illegal plan, and explain how Romney's ad shades the truth (the college scholarships were only for kids that had been in our school system since first grade, and also had the grades to qualify). Huckabee's stance proves his compassionate conservatism. He's not punishing the best and brightest just because their parents did something wrong. Also, no deserving "legal" kid was denied a scholarship because an illegal got one.

Plan? So drafting up a new politically convenient plan nullifies Huckabeees past record on immigration? Don't THINK SO baby.

The Lord Jesus Christ taught us to love the Lord your God and to love your neighbor. Germans, Irish, AND MEXICANS are all descended from Adam and Eve, through Noah. Mexicans are creatures of Almighty God, just like the Scots. Immigration policy must not violate "loving our neighbor." Foreigners are our neighbors.
The Apostle declared
"God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood[c] every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings"

The one all-powerful God
"now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”"
That Man is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Son of the Father, the all-powerful Lord and Creator Jesus Christ, the only sinless One who was crucified on the cross and died for our sins, and was buried and rose from the dead. Believe in Him and receive forgiveness of sins.

"(the college scholarships were only for kids that had been in our school system since first grade, and also had the grades to qualify"

No, the scholarships were for students who had completed three years of high school. They did not have to be there since first grade. Watch the You Tube with Stephanopoulos where he said that they qualified if they've gone through the Arkansas high school.

His consistently defends the proposal saying, "you don't punish the children for the sins of the parents."

But this appears to be "selective compassion" when you consider his staunch opposition to school choice vouchers for parents to take their children out of the public schools and into a private or parochial school. He said,

"He said at the time, "If the state were to give you a voucher, then in essence the state would be funding a faith school and would have some control over that faith school. That’s problematic for me as a person of faith.”

I guess Huck's compassionate "for the least of these" faith doesn’t extend to religious parents who want to escape the failing public schools, only to illegal immigrants who want to escape Mexico and become a burden on tax-paying parents here.

But he does have a point about state money means state involvement. But then how does he explain the fact that he signed legislation in 1999 which ADDED state restrictions to homeschoolers who do not receive any government money. One of which to impose a 14-day waiting period on parents to pull their child out of a government school? He should have vetoed any legislation which would have imposed state restrictions on parents who choose to homeschool.

(Maybe that's why he picked up the NEA - NH endorsement. They are strongly opposed to homeschooling.)

And then there's his current immigration plan, which when it was originally sent out had referred to the "Immigration and Naturalization Service." A quick Wikipedia on the INS would have shown that the organization ceased to exist in 2003. It is now the US Citizenship and Immigration Service. How can a serious presidential candidate send out an immigration policy and not know that? Did he even talk to Krikorian before he sent it out? Did they both miss it?

Marc Ambinder even caught it and appeared to correct the mistake for him by using [brackets] when he wrote about it. But this only goes to show that Huckabee hastily put the proposal out there most likely to steal the buzz away from Romney's speech, since it was released on the same day.

So to some this ad may seem negative, but when you consider that Romeny could have said a few more things about Huckabee's (aka Krirkorian's) immigration plan, but didn't. He could have called him the "Google" president. Huckabee appears to have written his plan the same way most modern college students do when they have to write a paper in a pinch, but is that the way we want our president to write an important policy paper? I certainly hope not.

But there seem to be a lot of people who are willing to just give him a pass because he's "one of us." Well I'm an evangelical Christian homeschool mother and I don't suspect critical thinking just because a candidate professes the same religion I do. I like Mike Huckabee, but I like a lot of people. Just because I like someobody doesn't mean I want them as my next president.

Sorry for the type, that last sentence should say "suspend" not suspect.

As attack ads go, this one is pretty tame. Not a lot of rhetoric or innuendo, just some simple statements.

Believer,

You are nutty. Crazy extreme Christians...its you that make the rest of the world look crazy. What the hell does accepting him into your heart mean anyway? And believe in him? How about emulate him, get involved in society/politics in a rational manner, and make good verbal contribution instead of religious drivel that doesn't belong. Get with it man. Religion is fantastic, but balance is everything. You sound obsolutely nutty...

From the Politico...

1) On tonight's "CBS Evening News," anchor Katie Couric continues her series, "Primary Questions: Character, Leadership & The Candidates," where she asks the 10 leading presidential candidates 10 questions designed to go beyond politics and show what really makes them tick.

Tonight: "Do you think the risks of climate change are at all overblown?"

KEEP READING - THERE'S A PAYOFF:

Clinton: "I don't think that it's over-hyped."
Obama: "No, I think they're serious. I think we have to take significant steps now to deal with it."
Romney: "I think the risks of climate change are real."
Giuliani: "There is global warming. Human beings are contributing to it. I think the best answer to it is energy independence."
Huckabee: "I don't know."

Spunky's translation: Let me google "climate change" first to find out what I'm supposed to say.

It's fine not to know the answer to something, but global warming didn't just enter the conversation (like the NIE) it's been around for a while. EVERYONE has an opinion on it, except it appears the man who is goint to decide Kyoto and perhaps sign legislation on CAFE standards, etc. Can we afford a president who wants to get into the White House before he decides to do his homework?

Looks like the religious loonies came out of their strait-jackets to post here. Reminds me of the time I was sitting at a coffee shop reading some books from the library, totally minding my own business, and a young woman came up to me and told me out of the blue I would be going to Hell because I wasn't reading the Bible.

Considering that 95% of people who "preach" seem to be afflicted with religious mania, explain to me why I shouldn't believe that babbling-about-Gawd n' Jeezus==need-to-get-sent-to-funny-farm.

I'm tired of hearing people say that "We're punishing good kids for the sins of their parents" by denying them scholarships etc. Are we "punishing" kids of murderers or bank robbers when we arrest their parents and throw them in jail?

Americans need to remember that all actions lead to consequences, either good or bad. Unfortunately for the illegal kids in our schools their parents actions will have negative consequences. At very least they've been given a part if not all of a good, free, K-12 education (and probably healthcare) that they wouldn't otherwise have received.

Now lets get on the ball, enforce the laws of the land, and have illegal immigrants pay the consequences of their actions by sending these people back to where ever they were before they broke into our country. We also need to speak very clearly (at the polls) and let politicians like Mike Huckabee hear from the American people that we just can't afford to pay for everything for everyone. It has to stop.

It is a shame that the momentum of the illegal immigration nightmare, has resorted to THEM and US! But for the majority of the American population, its about the "RULE of LAW."

Please. Few of us are losing sleep over the fact that millions of people violate federal drug law every day with cannabis. There's no national outrage over tax avoidance. There's no national outcry that another widely broken law, that involving speed limits, kills thousands of people every year. I see no presidential candidate making illegal file sharing the basis of his campaign.

Illegal immigration is a complicated issue, and touches upon lots of subjects. The rule of law is #53 on that list of subjects.

A endorsement by Gilchrist (founder of Minutemen) is worth ten of these ads.

That pretty much inoculated Huckabee from attacks on this issue.

Giuliani: "There is global warming. Human beings are contributing to it. I think the best answer to it is energy independence."
Huckabee: "I don't know."

I like Huckabee's answer better than Giuliani's. Huckabee's shows he is lazy and ignorant. Giuliani's shows he is a lazy ignorant bluffer.

Energy independence as a solution for global warming? WTF?
