What's That?

From a Joe Biden campaign e-mail:

And from Jonathan Fallwell's "Liberty Confidental"

Mr. Huckabee also said that Divine providence was responsible for his recent surge in the polls in Iowa, as he noted that he is the candidate with much less capital firepower than his rivals. Despite his fundraising shortfall, his message seems to be resonating with voters.

Biden couldn't eat his way out of a wet paper sack! He is just one of many on the left who hate American Success for his own personal power trip. Enough said.

Biden has bad hair and no one cares what he thinks or says. Mr. Non-Event.

"American Success"... is that a magazine or rock band or something?

This hack has been in office far too long and now his offspring are in office in DE. Please people work to bring about term limits for the House and the Senate.

Senator Biden is only adept at brow beating poor witnesses at Senate hearings that are so conrolled that even Senator Kennedy like he is in touch with reality.

Senator Biden is from a State (Delaware) that is so small, there are several abandoned towns in Ohio that have more people in them.

He is of no consequence in terms of being elected by a large amount of voters. Probably less than 200,000 voters propelled him to where he is.

His views are as old and thin in fact as is his hair weave.

Biden is the self appointed smartest person in Washington. He can be as big of a blowhard as he wants because he knows he'll never get the nomination & won't have to debate Rudy.

Yes, but would it be Joe Biden "eating Rudy Guiliani alive at a debate" or Neill Kinnock?

Portraying oneself as a swaggering braggadocio is guaranteed to enamor yourself amongst millions and millions of teeny-bopper voters. Good show!

He hates American success? Wow, it is amazing how distorted the minds of people on the right can really get. He doesn't hate American success, he hates war profiteering, genocide committing, surplus ruining, heartless, greedy assholes like you.

Good shot Juan!!!!! thought exactly the same thing myself. Is ole stroke boy talking about eating Rudi in the "biblical" sense? I think both Biden and Doddering Dodd would take the offer of a permanent doorkeeper job at the capital to get out of the race.

Jrael,

The first tenet of a good debator is not to call your opponents names. You should present what you have to say, be considerate of others and don't call people names.

Hopefully, next year when you are in the 4th Grade, you will learn this. Talk to your Mom and Dad about this.

JOE..LET'S LEAVE THE EATING TO SENATOR CRAIG, REP. FOLEY, THE PEDOPHILE PRIEST ON RUDY'S PAYROLL AND THE REST OF THE GOP'S PERVERTS.

Democrats are gay.

I am sorry to rain on the beat up Biden parade but must refute some of the inaccuracies that are being purported by the above posters.

First, although Delaware is small in land mass and population, it is one of the most significant states in the union. A higher percentage of United States corporations are incorporated and charted in Delaware than in any other one state in the union. This wields Delaware much power and thus provides Joseph Biden a strong support system financially and politically.

Second, Joseph Biden is probably the most qualified candidate both in education and experience. However, he has been a senator too long and represents an old guard in Washington. Yet, in his defense, he has served as a powerful voice to moderate democrats in his time as Senator.

Third, just a qualification, I am not a moderate democrat. I am a conservative but I am also able to see each candidate for what he is worth. Rudy Guilianni (as much as I respect his work in the wake of 9/11) will provide more Bush for the next 4 to 8 years if elected. He does not voice fresh opinions nor an aptitude for the domestic issues that face America.

Joe Biden and Ron Paul are the two best informed and most thoughtful presidential candidates.

However, with the infantile and servile "electorate" in the U.S. that doesn't matter. Neither of these men is particularly "show business" qualified. Perhaps if they hosted Saturday Night Live they'd have a better chance.

Back in the 1890's, a British Prime Minister named Benjamin Disraeli made an observation. This at a time when Britain had colonies all over the world:
"I have observed that each People has exactly the Government they deserve."

As we now see, the "Iraqi people" didn't deserve anything but Saddam Hussein.

And the illiterate, superficial and banal taxpaying peasants of the United States don't deserve any better than George Bush.

Is he going to quote from his failed bar exam or his plagerized paper?

Yer right JRael, Biden hates war profiteering, genocide committing, surplus ruing blah blah blah...that is only if he's not making all that $$$. Biden is a putz with a thin combover and Moonbats like JReal will lap up his every word as long as it's anti-repub or anti-conservative. Soon Biden will be sucking up to Obama or Hillary so he can be their dogcatcher in their would be cabinets.

I'll bet Biden's answers would be plagerized!

Open Letter to Senator Biden: Hey Joe....the only thing you will eat in this primary season is CROW!

and old Jeffery Damur trick

kevin,

Senator Biden's association with corporate friendly Delaware is not something he would
either 1) brag about or 2) use on the campaign trail. He would probably run from the issue (though I agree it might provide him some fund raising opportunities) Biden is very definitely corporate unfriendly, so I am note sure of the relevance of this point, Kevin. Delaware is corporate friendly in terms of incorporating there for a number of reasons, all State law many years old, very technical in nature and completely unconnected to Biden.

Please! I actually think Senator Biden is competent at his current job, but he can't "eat alive" the two inexperienced upstarts in his own primary. Tell him to leave ours alone! OOPS! Sorry Rudy!

Can anyone love themselves more then Joe Biden does? Is it possible?

Way to go Juan... I was about to write something of the same...

"yeah joey-boy... you would eat rudy up... but would you write the material yourself or would you steal it from someone else..."

Maybe delaware isn't tired of your boring buffoonery , but the rest of the country is. Look at your numbers you silly putz!!!

Mike,

Powerful statement. You should read Pat Buchanan's new book. Although it gets bogged down heavily in illegal immigration, it echoes the sentiment that we, as Americans, make the bed we sleep in. We are cursed by our own ignorance.

Another quote, by an equally well respected historic figure, stated, "Every generation needs a new revolution. Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories." T. Jefferson This is the problem that America faces. No longer do people care about the idea of "America" and the course its government takes. Most are content in the blind faith that America will always have a certain resolve that will continue to propel us when needed. This, I fear is an assertion that no longer is based in truth. Entitlement, lack of responsibility and quick free and easy money of this generation have replaced hard work, the idea of America as "shining beacon on the hill, morality, and accountability of the greatest generation." Therefore, we stand at a critical juncture where the electorate must educate itself and, through peaceful revolution, must wrestle the reigns of America and reinsert the people's voice and will. Bring back the America that is so clear in the eyes of older generations. I hope that we can start asserting that pride.

It amazes me how many people are beating up on Biden. It amazes me even more that you think Rudy is a great Presidential candidate. His own children refuse to talk to him, he's cheated on his wives, he is a liar, he did nothing for the City of New York...besides hire strong personnel, and the residents of New York wanted him gone right before 9/11. Anyone could have walked the streets of New York making sure people were ok...and Republicans would worship that person too. Republicans need to stop jumping on some bandwagon. Do some research. I thought Bush was a bad choice for President...but Rudy, oh man! He has NO experience. At least Biden has experience. And by the way, for all you 20-40 year old bloggers, quit asking your dad who is the better candidate. Be open minded...there are good Republicans that are running. Rudy? Definitely the worst candidate running.

Pleeze, ole "Plugs Biden" is at it again!
Who would listen or believe him, he is the
biggest fibber, and BS artist, he never can
stop ,if he is behind a camera, with all his
facial antics, he is joke!
Rudy can take him on, and eat him for lunch!

A=B, B=C, so A=C. Joe thinks Rudy is full of shit. Joe wants to eat Rudy. Joe eats shit.

Rudy is shit.

Zack
You are clearly an uninformed,or dishonest imbicile, pining for the days of David Dinkins' New York, when I am quite sure you spent your days avoiding our then streets.
Irving Snow

Joe,

In no way was I making a connection between the "corporate friendly" laws in Delaware and the Senator. I was pointing out Delaware's importance on the national scale, only. One poster indicated that Delaware was nonconsequential which is completely untrue. Because of its laws, it weilds much political and financial power and is a major player in lobbying and political fundraising. I will stand by my point that it provides Biden a strong political and financial support system.

Sorry that you misconstrued what I was saying.

I stand by all my other points too.

Biden is a piece of shit

Joe can not even stand up to HC!

Zack:

By your own description of Rudy, he should be the perfect Democrat candidate. You guys have no problem with seedy personal lives when it's your own party. Saying Biden is "experienced" means nothing. Experienced at what? Living off the public dime your entire life? He's done nothing outside of politics.

The word "politician" has become synonomous with "lowlife scumbag!"

Zack,

You are a little one-sided. Rudy did help clean up NY City and make it a safer and more tourist friendly place. I, however, agree that he is not qualified for the presidency.

The last thing we need is another religious zealot in the White House who things God whispers sweet nothings in his ear.

Huckabee/Ahmadinejad in 2008!!

hey mike.... turn down your meds... i think you are on overdose

Joe,

You call out JRael for name calling, but the first reply to Marc's post basically says anyone on the left "hates American success", then Bryherb says that lefties are "moonbats" and yet you don't call them out for name calling. If you're going to be the PC police, call it out when it comes from the left OR from the right and you'll look consistent at least!

It is amazing that once again, the conservative right runs with its tails between its legs when confronted with hard facts that portray a Democratic candidate in a positive light. Kevin's 3:49pm email listed several qualities about Joseph Biden that would make him a formidable candidate, yet not one single conservative has refuted them. That doesn't mean they can't be refuted, it simply means that the conservatives on this board prefer to sling mud, call names, and discuss what Joe Biden "eats."

The problem with politics these days is not a want of qualified candidates, but a want of an electorate willing to take the time to listen and reason things out. The conservatives on this board are part of the problem, not the solution, and if you can't think of a better argument not to vote for someone than because of their hair or a rhetorical comment then Joseph Biden should win.

In full disclosure, I am a moderate Democrat, who does not believe Biden should win because there are, in fact, far better reasons not to vote for him.

Why is it that "hate-America first" liberals are quickly reduced to cursing and defaming anyone who has a contrary opinion?

They are really a nasty bunch.

Joe,

Add Irving to the list of people you need to call out for name calling from the right...

by my count that's 3 to 1 with the righties doing more of the name calling then the lefties in this thread

Biden will have to plagiarize, yet again, to out do Rudy he couldn't utter a coherent thought without using someone else's words.

Joe (aka PC Policeman),

You also need to call out Roger now... making it 4-1. And don't forget to point out the irony of his post about "liberals quickly reduced to cursing and defaming anyone" and "being a nasty bunch" when, by a very large margin of 400%, it is the right wingers who are stooping to that.

Who in the hell would want to debate Biden?

texass

Your comment re A=B and B=C, etc. was great!

Michael,

Speaking of plagarizing, wouldn't that apply to Rudy as well since I'm almost certain Bush trademarked the phrase "9/11" as an answer to any question a long time ago and before Rudy began spouting it every chance he got in a feeble attempt to gain any kind of political gain...

Joe Biden always was, remains to this day and will be tomorrow an idiot.

Mike:

Are you sure that Benjamin Disraeli said "I have observed that each People has exactly the Government they deserve?"

I thought Joe Biden said that.

What exactly has Biden really done in his career as a Delaware senator? Does anyone on this blog have that info? What are his accomplishments, baggage, loyalties, and Achilles heel?

Biden is a professional politician. How frequently has he ever really had a chat with any American citizen of this country that wasn't intended to either make him feel/sound good? Call me cynical, but just because you're on the Armed Services Committee doesn't mean you're any more qualified than say, Barack Obama.

Biden is too tied to Washington and its isolation from real Americans. He will say or do anything (like any other politician Republican or Democrat) to get elected. I'd rather someone, anyone, not so tied up with the Washington culture/political structure would get nominated for each parties' ticket.

As to RI's importance, how so? How is a tiny state like RI any more important than say, New York, California, even Florida? All three of these states have bigger populations, more electoral votes, thereby more of an ability to have more representatives in Congress than, say, tiny, little RI. I mean, c'mon, you sneaze and you're basically out of the state.

Everyone,

Does anyone actually know the details of Joe Biden's "plagiarism". It is obvious that no one clearly understands his offense.

The first case was at law school. I am a practicing attorney and can tell you that it is very easy to make mistakes when citing a law review article, also, to my understanding that in the sixties and seventies, unlike today, law students were not provided with multiple rewrites. Therefore, there is not always an intent to plagiarize when it occurs.

The second case was in the wake of the first offense being publicized. "There, he did not credit Neil in one speech although he had when he used it on every other occassion. It was a mistake. Though Biden had correctly credited the original author in all speeches but one, the one where he failed to make mention of the originator was caught on video."(Wikipedia)

Phyllis Schlafly and Ann Coulter are my picks for the Presidential and VIPs ticket. In ether order, does not matter. As for Joe Biden, I have always considered him a grifter. Look it up.
Jordan Alexander Orosz, The Old Sailor, San Diego, Ca. USA.

Hey Kevin- I bet you're a defense attorney.

Pleaseeeeee, can't Joe say anything without putting his foot in his mouth??
Damn he's stupid!!

Rosary Joe Biden couldn't spell "CAT" if you spotted him the "c" and the "t"! The fact remains that he represents a miniscule population compared to other Senators - not that there's much to recommend many of them either!

As to Ron Paul, he is living proof that all candidates should be forced to take a test to prove that they have some grasp of reality. He and Dennis Kucinich would be a perfect pair, both having had extraterrestrial experiences!

My late father used to say that the people who were intelligent enough to solve our problems were too smart to get into politics. And this was 60 years ago! Nothing has changed, except that the climate of the public discourse has become unbearably soured! And I blame James Carville and the Clintons for that, especially the current serving Senator, another wholly unqualified candidate for president - one of many on both sides of the aisle.

It's very depressing. I may vote "NO" for President next year.

Jordan Orosz,

No clue what the VIPs ticket is (:-p) nor Phyllis Schlafly for that matter... but if we're picking anything and Ann Coulter is involved, I'd pick Rudy first and I was just recently quoted as saying, "I would not vote for Rudy if he was the only one running!" (Mind you this is coming from someone who has voted and does vote in every election he has ever been eligible for, including days that are just local/county elections!)

For the record, I don't like Rudy and I despise Joe Biden. However, I agree that Biden could chew him up and spit him out. Rudy's relatively new at this game of presidential politics, but Biden's been in Washington so long, he believes his own lies and BS. That would make it much easier to argue with someone who's brand new to their own "positions."

Hey, Biden - who wrote that for you? We remember your plagiarism past!

I thought Hillary was the next democrat leader. Have to give this a second thought. Biden seems formidable. Genius level and blood and guts. Rudy must be frightened, probably lost a lot of sleep thinking about Senator Biden's challenge.

Joe Biden is the smartest, and most qualified candidate of either party. Rudy wouldn't be able to stop saying 9/11 long enough to debate Joe Biden. I hope Judy or Rudy's next girlfriend bring him a clean pair of pants, because when Joe is done with him, he'll need them.

Joe Biden is a douche!

Kevin-

Your posts have truly shocked me. Someone speaking intelligently on an internet messageboard? No name-calling or childish insults? No ranting about a left- or right-wing conspiracy? Definitely a first.

Kevin,

Would you please tell me what Rudy did in the wake of 9/11 that was so special? Didn't he just do his job as mayor? Nothing more? I know he has sure capitalized on it since then. He is wealthy now because of 9/11 and he is doing well in the polls now because of 9/11, but what did he really do?

Ben: Wake up. Grow up. Stop getting all your news from Oprah . Contrast Rudy with School Bus Nagin of New Orleans. Maybe you will be able to detect the difference between a leader and a whiner.

What a joke this clown is...Biden hates an AMERICAN SUCCESS story like Rudy. He hates anyone that shows you can be a success without the government handouts that Biden wants to give out. He wants people to be beholden to him by the bigger government controlling more and more facets of private citizens lives. He can't stand the fact that people don't need the government to provide for them. People can and do provide for themselves if they work at it. Nice try Joe but as the quip goes "I heard the wind blow before" go home and shut up....

Debate? The garbage that we get that's called a debate is biggest joke of all. I bet neither one of them (Joe or Rudy) could define what a proper debate of the issues would look like. Hint, it has nothing to do with CNN or Wolf or photo ops or planted questions in the audience.

Besides isn't it more fun to have video snowmen and religious fundamentalists asking irrelevent questions and laughing while the country burns like Rome?

Joe v. Rudy, my goodness, who give a crap. How about us against ourselves. We should all be ashamed at what we have let become the election process.

Ben-

He walked around in front of news cameras looking for the crisis center he strategically placed in the WTC. D'oh! Americans now know his name and face. We are a nation that cares more about headlines than details. Winning the presidency is evolving into a popularity contest. Enter Mr. Giulani!

An imbecile could eat Giuliani if it came down to it. Objectively speaking, Biden is a force to be recked with, he might not make president but he'll damn good vice or state. Giuliani is a piss-ant that will say anything!

Sounds like Biden is homo...talking about eating another man!!! I thought Hillary was the "Inevitable" one.

Hey, Joe. Remember this: "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Hmmm...

Wonder who said that?

You're gonna eat crow when you concede to Hillary Clinton.

Rudy can't be honest with his wife or family does anyone really believe honesty is in his being at all. same as clintons. I think we're all brian dead to even consider either of them. IF he ever got into our White House it would be the same as the 90's all over again and with her in there it would be the same.

Joe Biden is best known as the man who sponsored the March 23, 1999 Senate resolution authorizing Clinton to bomb the Christian nation of Serbia, and characterizing the WHOLE Serbian nation as “...a bunch of illiterates, degenerates, baby killers, butchers and rapists”.

Joe, you are a POS

Anthony: Please don't be condescending about what we are as a Nation. We are not all democrats that need Katie Couric for headline managed news. By the way what does D'oh! mean?

From whom do you suppose he plagiarized that line?

By now everybody knows Biden is a Liar and a plagiarist. The only person he could eat in a debate is the Gingerbread Man.

Mr. Abmbinder,

At least you can quote the substantive portion of that e-mail Sen. Biden sent. This is the rest of it:

I can't wait to debate Rudy Giuliani.

Over the weekend, Rudy Giuliani attacked the Biden plan for a political solution in Iraq, "They're saying, 'We will divide the country.' (The Iraqi government) has to decide to divide the country. We're trying to create stability over there."

I will eat Rudy Giuliani alive at a debate. Click here to contribute $25, $35, $50 or more to the campaign right now.

The former mayor never misses an opportunity to display how little he knows about foreign policy. My plan is to give regions in Iraq more control over their daily lives. It's a way for states to share power with a central government and achieve a political solution to the chaos there and it was endorsed by a bipartisan majority of 75 Senators, both Republican and Democrat. We've already seen it play out -- where local authorities have been given more control over their affairs, violence has gone down. Meanwhile, the Bush administration's attempt to create a strong central government is still not working -- for all the headlines the surge has created, we're no closer to a political solution in Baghdad than we were when the surge began months ago.

Folks, we've seen how dangerous it is to elect a president who doesn't understand how the world works. The last thing we need in the White House is four years of George W. Giuliani, or George W. Romney. Notice we haven't heard a word about their plans to reach a political solution in Iraq.

Well, there you have it.

As for the nonsensical comments many have made here. They're so petty and devoid of any substance that it is probably better not to respond to them .

I would note however, to some who say that Sen. Biden has not done anything while in office to look up his record. In this day and age of Google and Yahoo it is easy to find information if one is willing. I think that once you compare the records of Sen. Biden and others you'll find that whether you disagree with him or not, at least you can respect him. Also, he is one of the few candidates running who is only worth about $100-$150 thousand in personal wealth.

To hear the vitriol here, it saddens one to think that perhaps Disraeli was right, we do get the government we deserve and that is a depressing thought.

Rudy not only lacks integrity and basic morals, he is as inept as could be. I lived in New York when he was Mayor and he was hated. The man has a horrible temper and he was hated by the policemen and firemen and the people of New York. He takes credit for things he never accomplished and was responsible for the many deaths that occurred on 9/11.

To NYkrinDC: I suggest you are the one who should do the Googling. Try Hillary Clinton, George Soros
Chinagate, Rose Law Firm, Saul Alinsky, Norman Hsu, Commodity trading by Mrs. Clinton, and her defensing the Bimbo eruptions, while she was selling the Lincoln Bedroom to money donors.
Also,(Sir?) your post was very pedantic and smug.

I could not vote for Biden. If he won and started his inaugural address in January it would not end until St Paddy's day. What a bore.

Carole: If you lived in New York, then you must have voted for David Dinkins, sorry you were diappointed when he lost the election to Rudy.
Also good to know that you canvassed all police and firefighters to find out how much Rudy was disliked. Must have take a while. I believe there are in excess of 60,000. Anyway thanks for the info. I just made up my mind to drop Rudy and vote for Joe.

Please put a Biden-Rudy (I can't spell the last name)debate on pay per view. I would pay to watch that overblown idiot Delaware Joe Biden taken down 2-3 feet.

Don-

There are many intelligent Americans investigating the candidates to see who is best. I applaud them.

However, I saw a survey (maybe on drudge or cnn.com?) that found that the average American spends 4 minutes per week thinking about who should be the next president. The survey then broke down how much time was spent reading/watching celebrity journalism, etc, and it showed the average American does not make it a priority to choose the best leader. That's why name recognition makes it a popularity contest. We have 300 million citizens and only 100 million cast votes in 2004. Can you imagine the upheaval in today's politics if we had the voter participation rate we had a century ago?

So let me get this straight Joe; you couldn't beat Michael Dukakis, but are Rudy's match? Sure you are...

Hey... wait a minute .. everybody please slow down and explain this to me… and please go slow because I am not as fast as you all. But, doesn’t Joe have to beat somebody... anybody... in his OWN party first... before he debates a candidate from the other party? Hasn’t he been trying to do that for thirty years and hasn't he been unsuccessful? Didn’t little Mikey Dukakis throw the attack video out on the Plagiarism issue and completely sink JoJo’s campaign? And we all know what a great debater and candidate little Mikey turned out to be…. Joe’s problem is that everyone is tired of hearing him pontificate and nobody wants him to be President… especially his own party. He is a throw back to all that is wrong in Washington… looking and (ugh) listening to Joe is looking backwards and we need candidates that can lead in this day and age… I wish that one would come out of the woodworks and soon… Thanks for slowing down and listening to me… no you all can go back to calling each other names… P.S. Kevin, what kind of a lawyer would use Wikipedia for sourcing?

hey, plugs, the only thing u r capable of beating is a drum.

NYkrinDC-

Bravo! Another intelligent poster? It must be the Christmas season. Biden's plan for Iraq is intelligent. He and Sen Brownback (R-KS)held a joint press conference about a month ago in Iowa to show how broad support was for his plan. Thanks for the rest of the email. When you hear his full line of reasoning it's not so crazy after all.

Ben-

To answer your question about the wake of 9/11. I believe that one of the main duties of any elected official in a leadership capacity i.e. mayor, governor, senator, or president is to bring people together and give them a vision of hope. It is this rhetoric, in the wake of one of the worst american tragedies, that I think Rudy Guiliani provided. Whether it is easier to do in the wake of tragedy or whether he was just in the right place at the right time in the right position can be debated forever. I personally always give credit where I feel credit is due and in this case, I think Guiliani performed admirably.

Also, remember, (in response to the person saying he was hated in NYC) Rudy did clean the streets of New York. Whether or not you agree with the tactics he used, New York City has less violence, less crime, and less graffitti than prior to his term as mayor. Credit again is due.

My problem with Guiliani is threefold. First, successes as mayor of a large urban city does not translate into success as President. I believe that the different demographics that sweep this nation make him ill-prepared to deal with varying challanges domestically. Second, and in the same breadth, I do not believe his social beliefs translate nationwide...and even moreso when running as a democrat. Third, I do not believe he is intelligent and polished enough to interact in the international/diplomatic arena. I think we can all agree that lacking in those two traits can be devastating to the USA.

I am still searching for the right candidate...I wish I could mesh candidates together and create one. Obama's vision and rhetoric, Kucinich's honesty and integrity, Romney's business and economic sense, McCain's experience, and John Edward's tongue...a perfect candidate maybe?

just my opinion

Slojoe,

I knew someone was going to point that out. In my defense, I was just protecting myself from someone bashing me from plagiarizing something while defending Biden's plagiarism. I know that Wiki is an unreliable source that cannot be cited as authority. But come on, this is a message board/blog. Pretty funny you caught it. Good Catch

Kevin-

I wanted to add two points to your Giuliani thoughts. I read a great article in Time Magazine analyzing Rudy's weaknesses and strengths. The two major weaknesses they found were: First, his record of putting people into government positions based more on if he knew them than who was the most qualified (Kerik is a great example). Secondly, his constant unwillingness to compromise. I think these are two of the factors that contributed the most to the major problems of the Bush administration and I don't want four more years of it. Besides, Republicans have many better candidates who more closely hold their overall values than Rudy.

Anthony,

I had not read the Time Magazine article but have to agree with you. I think Rudy represents the same cavalier attitude that the current administration espouses. I find that there are many other candidates that have weaknesses that are much more manageable than Rudy's weaknesses.

I will continue to argue that when push comes to shove social conservatives will not bring themselves to vote for Guiliani.

Hey JRael you are typical, call names, no substance, repeat old dried out phrases, same ol BS. Wahhh! You are part of the club of people with moveon.org's hand up your back moving your mouth. You offer nothing.

I just read an article yesterday where Biden says if Bush bombs Iran he would impeach him. mmmmm. I didn't know a president could order bombing or invading a country on his own. Guess Joe doesn't remember Congress has to sign off on it, just like they did on Iraq. Congress saw the same intelligence that Bush saw. It's inudendo and out right lying that Bush lied about Iraq, and that he has the power to bomb any country he wants. Mao once said that if you tell a lie to a thousand people and repeat the lie a thousand times it becomes the truth. Also, too many people think if you google it or it is on the internet it has to be true. So few read real History books or live anywhere other than the USA. If enough did, they would see that the USA is still the greatest, most generous country on the planet. It's too bad that a presidential election is decided on the same grounds as American Idol. Who looks the best and sings the right song. At this time we lack any true leadership from either party.

Kevin,
I was just having fun with you. It amazes me just how excited some of these folks get... I do share some of your concerns. I just hate it when everyone talks over each other and we don't listen. I am hoping for some sun god to come out of the wood works and save us all... but alas, the group of candidates that we are looking are probably as good as it gets. I guess that anyone with the common sense, intelligence and integrity that we want is just too smart to run for President. I probably plagiarized that last sentence from someone. Be of good cheer.

Wow, what a depressing blog this is. Talk about wrestling with pigs. Hats off to you folks who want to talk sense. Too bad it's wasted on morons who have nothing better to do all day than post and repost. Maybe all you unemployed nut-scratchers should start posting at E Weekly instead.

Don Clintoneone,

Given that my post referred to Sen. Biden and his experience I fail to see the relevance of your "counter-point" on googling Sen. Clinton (whom I never mentioned in my comment, nor even tried to defend).

In any case, if you really want to know about Sen. Biden I suggest you go elsewhere as Mr. Ambinder does a poor job as a blogger and reporter on the matter, focusing only on deliberate misunderstanding and outright manipulation of quotes to suit his purposes.

Here's a link to Sen. Biden's positions and another on his accomplishments. These are not the only ones but I thought I'd give those who are the least informed in this blog a little help.

The rest of the presidential candidates, both republican and democrat are also listed.

and a copy paste from wiki on his accomplishments.

Biden has been involved in crafting many federal crime laws over the last decade, including the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, also known as the Biden Crime Law. He also authored the landmark Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA), which contains a broad array of measures to combat domestic violence and provides billions of dollars in federal funds to address gender-based crimes. Although part of this legislation later was struck down as unconstitutional, it was reauthorized in 2000 and 2005. In March 2004, Biden enlisted major American technology companies in diagnosing the problems of the Austin, Texas-based National Domestic Violence Hotline, and to donate equipment and expertise to it.

As chairman of the International Narcotics Control Caucus, Biden wrote the laws that created the nation's "Drug Czar," who oversees and coordinates national drug control policy. In April 2003 he introduced the controversial Reducing Americans' Vulnerability to Ecstasy Act, also known as the RAVE Act. He continues to work to stop the spread of "date rape drugs" such as Rohypnol, and drugs such as Ecstasy and Ketamine. In 2004 he worked to pass a bill outlawing steroids like androstenedione, the drug used by many baseball players.[13]

Biden's legislation to promote college aid and loan programs allows families to deduct on their annual income tax returns up to $10,000 per year in higher education expenses. His "Kids 2000" legislation established a public/private partnership to provide computer centers, teachers, Internet access, and technical training to young people, particularly to low-income and at-risk youth.

Biden is also long-time member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. In 1997, he became the ranking minority member and chaired the committee from June 2001 through 2003. His efforts to combat hostilities in the Balkans in the 1990s brought national attention and influenced presidential policy: traveling repeatedly to the region, he made one meeting famous by calling Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic a "war criminal." He consistently argued for lifting the arms embargo, training Bosnian Muslims, investigating war crimes and administering NATO air strikes. Biden's subsequent "lift and strike" resolution was instrumental in convincing President Bill Clinton to use military force in the face of systematic human rights violations.[citation needed] Biden has also called on Libya to release political prisoner Fathi Eljahmi.[16]

Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, Biden was supportive of the Bush administration's efforts, calling for additional ground troops in Afghanistan and agreeing with the administration's assertion that Saddam Hussein needed to be eliminated. The Bush administration rejected an effort Biden undertook with Senator Richard Lugar to pass a resolution authorizing military action only after the exhaustion of diplomatic efforts. In October 2002, Biden voted for the final resolution to support the war in Iraq. He has long supported the Bush administration's war effort and appropriations to pay for it, but has argued repeatedly that more soldiers are needed, the war should be internationalized, and the Bush administration should "level with the American people" about the cost and length of the conflict.[17]

In November 2006, Biden and Leslie Gelb, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, released a comprehensive strategy to end sectarian violence in Iraq. Rather than continuing the present approach or withdrawing, the plan calls for "a third way": federalizing Iraq and giving Kurds, Shiites, and Sunnis "breathing room" in their own regions
