Clinton Borrows An Obama Line From The Stump

02 Jan 2008 06:11 pm

"We are fired up and we are ready to go because we know America is ready for change and the process starts right here in Iowa."

In Davenport, Iowa, those words escaped the barriers of a tired Hillary Clinton's teeth.

Without irony.

That phrase is associated with Barack Obama. Obama borrows it from a woman in South Carolina who helped remind him what was important in life.

It's the signature, in fact, of Obama's close.

Never an original thought....SAD!!!! She is coming apart before our eyes

As others have said, I'm sure we'll soon find out about her childhood in Indonesia.

If you can't be a leader, you can at least copy a leader or imitate or plagiarize a leader.
Lest any moron ask me on what Obama has lead, I ask you if you know how much we spend as a country on Iraq? Imagine the trillions.
A country of athards can only elect a retard. Thats why Obama, Biden, Richardson, Kucinich and Dodd have got no chance in hell.
Why isn't Edwards in the list above? Have you ever seen Biden's blast at him last week? fake progressive populist.

It should also be noted:

On Hardball tonight, Clinton's spokesperson stole Obama's phrase "kick the tires and look under the hood." Matthews was sharp and called him out on it.

Obviously this is a sign of Clinton's desperation and Obama's resonating messages.

This should be her "Dean Scream," as it perfectly encapsulates why many people are turned off by her (in an almost comical fashion). Unfortunately, since she's Hillary and not Howard Dean, the media likely won't touch this at all. Ah well.

Hilary might just be admitting that "change" is a much better sell for Dems rather than some of her fear/experience based arguments.

If Hillary stole it from Obama, chances are David Axelrod stole it from the Edwards campaign.

snark

HRC assumes whatever position, platform or slogan she thinks might get her elected. This is the ultimate sign that Hillary is without shame.

In response, Obama told reporters, "I did not have sex with that woman."

Actually, see this article from September 2007

>

Quote from Hillary in September 2007

Voters from Iowa are sort of like a voters union in a way kind of what a consumers union does for us for products," she said. "The consumers union has got a lot of people who test out all of the products. You know they kick the tires. They make sure the baby chair won't collapse. Well that's what you do in these caucuses, you kind of kick my tires, see whether or not I'll collapse.

doogey - Obama has been using the kick-the-tires line since the day he announced in Feb.

My point is, it's an expression. You can find on-line examples of Biden using the same expression last spring.

Matthews said he hadn't heard it at all this election except from Obama's team before tonight on Hardball.

This was his final bite at Wolfson, but I'm not sure why in such an important election this is what the media and blogs feel the need to concentrate on...who used an old cliche frst.

I think it is delerious sleep deprivation, rather than actually thinking she can get away with stealing it. How else to explain what she said about Musharaff [sp?] running for election? She needs some sleep. This is me being charitable, btw.

its an expression, yes, but obama was the only one using it until tonight. Its just go to say that Hillaryis phony or copycat. That's all

Look, I'm an Obama guy, but I hardly think that having a bleary-eyed Clinton snag his line is hardly some kind of disqualifier... Barely worth mentioning, even if it is a bit weird.

Now, can we get back to talking about her votes on Iran and Iraq? Thanks.

Tomorrow she'll be on CNN describing a recent religious conversion...

Tomorrow she'll be on CNN describing a recent religious conversion...

If this is all you have to go after Hillary Clinton on, then y'all got nuthin'. Oooh! She ripped off a phrase! You people are rediculous. Hillary will be a huge improvement over Bush. Don't try to say she'll be the same as Bush. That's just stupid.

Apparently y'all are too young to realize this was a standard protest march chant back in the 1960s. People were yelling 'fired up and ready to go' before Obama was even born...

Huffington Post - everything or anything negative about Hillary Clinton - find it here!

What is this about?
There is nothing negative to say about the other candidates, dem or repug only Clinton?
Arianna doesn't like the Clintons?
This is tiresome, if Hillary Clinton is the Democrats' nominee will this tiresome pick pick pick at Clinton continue?
Maybe Huffington's repug roots are showing

You're wasting column inches in your magazine reporting who cribbed a Cliche? "Kick the tires and see what's under the hood" and "Fired Up" are common figures of speech. Give your editors a common usage dictionary for their sweet 16 parties.

OH... THIS IS SAD, I BELIEVE HILLARY'S REALLY LOST HER MIND... BILL MUST HAVE BEEN OUT LAST NIGHT...

To "Meanwhilebackontheranch" and "PJ" "Fired Up and Ready To Go" has been a part of Obama's stump speech for over 7 months. I attended a rally in Atlanta when he tells the story of the Little Lady from South Carolina who he got it from and he ended the rally with this back and forth call. There is Obama campaign paraphenalia with "Fired Up Ready To Go". Clinton supporters and other candidates supporters know it as part of Obama's campaign and have mocked Obama supporters with the phrase in other blogs like the Huff Post. More me too from Hillary. There is nothing about leadership emanating from this Poll tested woman.

At least Hillary attended meetings of the committees she belongs to. Obama didn't call for one meeting of the subcommittee he chairs. I want someone who can do more than spout fancy phrases, someone who can do more than talk.

Wow, what a ridiculous idea/blog -- nobody owns common English phrases. May be Obama should copyright this phrase (like Paris Hilton's "It is Hot").

Dear anti-Hillary Huffpost:
There you go again, cranking up your half dozen Hillary Haters to respond to a valueless story. Obama is stealing all sorts of lingo jingo from community organizers of the 60's & 70's, but then few of your bloggers were probably around then. Obama's only asset is the belittlement of his opponents. He has no past, so he rely's on degrading the accomplishments of his opponents. Perhaps the cultists following Obama, Paul, and Huckleby can save money on Kool Ade when they all lose.

Clinton is a loser and Obama is the winner! It's that simple!!

It's funny that no matter what HRC does to some she can't do no wrong.... If she ran over a blind person in a walkway they'd blame the seeing eye dog for not being there.... She swiped someone elses theme, she sent her minions out to do her dirty work, she voted for war in Iraq... But nuffin to see here folks, move along is the Clinton campaign motto....

Hillary is just like Bush?? I've heard something similar before. In 2000, there was supposedly no difference between Gore and Bush. If you were dumm enough to believe it then, you'll probably believe it again.

So Hillary's getting tired, is she? Well, we'd best find that out NOW before she becomes President and can't go the distance during a national crisis. You know...the glassy-eyed stare, reading "My Pet Goat"...

Good sign, though. Obama's ideas are dwfinitely making an impression on her as well as everyone else. God, I hope he wins this thing. We need him.
Edwards can be Vice-President.

Most haters and slanderers are either academic failures or professional failures who are jealous of her academic and professional success.

Show me your records from age 13 like Hillary Clinton has shown us or shut up!

She is intellectual brilliant, professionally diligent and politically intelligent and she has a good sense of humor.

It is better and more secure to be led by someone who has the records to prove that she has been committed to the best interests of most Americans.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is not posing or posturing to play to the gallery of Iowans and to impress the American press.

She is speaking from her long years of experience since her Wellesley College days to her days as the advocate of the civil rights movement as the Editor of the Yale Law Review and Social Action.

What have you got to show for your own life compared to hers?

Obama was the first black president of the harvard law review just like he will be the first black president of this country. She's been in this game too long, just look at how much money she has recieved from the insurance and drug companies that she is so "against". The woman has a hard time making a choice based on her own moral code, she voted for the war and it's funding over and over again. You knew the war was wrong how is it this person who has so much credibility and experience not suppose to have known?

midi, HRC has been getting advice from You-Know-Who for years now. I shudder to think of the power struggles going on in the White House if she's elected. You think Bill will take a backseat to his wife? You do? I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. Only slightly used.

I read somewhere that she voted for the war to show how manly and tough she is, hoping to get the male vote. Isn't going to work, but nice try.
