Coburn To Endorse McCain

16 Jan 2008 07:00 am

CHARLESTON -- The McCain campaign is touting a major endorsement tomorrow set for Greenville, South Carolina.

It's Sen. Tom Coburn, the Senate's resident earmark curmudgeon and staunch social conservative / doctor.

The campaign hopes the endorsement will kick-start four days of intense campaigning here with a jolt of momentum that yesterday's Michigan primary did not provide.

Looks like he's got the Conservative Lunatic bloc all sewn up.

That would be a really dumb move on Tom's part. I can see endorsing Fred, but McCain? That's like Santorum endorsing Specter. Dumb move.

Jonb, just so you know, Santorum did endorse Specter during his last primary.

So McCain now has endorsements from Mr. No Earmarks (Coburn) in addition to Mr. Supply-Side Economics (Jack Kemp). McCain's a Conservative traitor!

How much time will Marc Levin spend touting these endorsements from well-loved Conservatives? We know the answer. Levin's performance, as well as that of other Conservative hosts, has been shameful.

McCAIN - Coburn 2008 ,Dr. Tom Coburn - Conservative distinguished US Senator and medical doctor is the best most qualified candidate for VP ; has the credentials to win healthcare and domestic economic debate against DEMS in Nov. and McCAIN is the only Rep. nominee who could beat Dems for the White House

John McCain will never be the President.

If the GOP is foolish enough to nominate him, there is no way a grouchy, 72 year old curmudgeon is going to beat the Democrats.

I completely endorse everything Discman wrote. Mark Levin - who I believe does not even understand conservatism - has been shameful and dishonest during this entire primary campaign. He's been even worse than the rest of the National Review's pundits.

In a Rasmussen poll McCain is ahead of Obama and Clinton. So he can win presidency.

That'S right , and on day one if he is awakened at 3am in the white house that there is a sudden international military crisis , he has the experience and gravitas to act ... and healthcare / fiscal issues can be addressed by him and his VP - who can actually explain why socialized medicine will be a disaster for our Nation and our fragile economy . It is still a very dangerous and unpredictable world

McCain/Coburn '08 - Nothing could be better for America right now. Sign me up to campaign.

Well Charles and Shawna since you are avid readers , I would refer you to a feature article in Feb.2007 issue of GQ magazine on Dr. Coburn as well as his Book -'Breach of Trust - how Washington turns Outsiders into Insiders '. Yes Tom is outspoken and passionate about our country and our future and I believe his character and integrity make him the modern day Lincoln and this way we will get him as President someday ..without him , maybe not having to go through 'Meatgrinder' of a long campaign.Question - if he were to be McCAIN's successor ..say for example 1/2 way through McCAIN'S second term , for whatever reason..could a President Coburn run for 2 additional 4 year terms..making him our President for possibly 10+ years ? Washington will look a lot different...He is our 'Mr. Smith- Jimmy Stewart' in Washington , he still practices medicine for 'no pay'..
