Good News For McCain

(1) He's back up in South Carolina. (For some reason, I kind of trust Fox News to poll Republicans...right?)

2. And the attorney general of Michigan, Mike Cox, has re-endorsed him.

I'm not sure I would trust Fox on this at all considering that as part of the GOP establishment they want to see Huckabee destroyed.

McCain has very little natural constituency in South Carolina. Huckabee does, but his bounce is gone and his flaws are becoming too apparent to a state that has been following the campaign for about a year now. Romney could win here, despite being in 3rd place now. It depends on what happens in Michigan.

Hello, Marc, commenters-

I have a McCain-focused site - my two cents:

The polls in SC have been far more volatile than in any of the early voting states. This is evident from the Pollster.com chart:

I would not agree w/ Dave that McCain has no natural constituency in SC. There are many military installations and retired military in the state, and with his emphasis on national security, he does have a base. Obviously, it is smaller than Huck's, but better than nothing.

On the Cox endorsement - that was a good link -these sorts of endorsements are probably not of value per se, but it does serve as an indicator of how McCain's stock has risen significantly over the past few weeks.
