If the GOP chooses McCain as the nominee you'd better pray for an extraordinary percentage of swing voters in the general election. If McCain is on the ballot, as a life long California conservative republican this will be the first time I do not vote Republican. I cannot in good conscience support John McCain. One more thing, I'm not alone amongst my circle of friends who are mostly republicans. So, again good luck with the swing votes because if the party chooses to ignore our voice they'll hear us loud and clear when they lose our vote.

against waterboarding of terrorists
for illegal immigration
for campaign finance law
for stem-cell research
against Rumsfield
against Falwell, Robertson
he considered leaving republican party
he considered becoming Kerry's VP

Seriously, if McCain become the nominee we need to come up with a independent candidate who is a real republican.

Let's face it, fellow conservatives, if McCain is the nominee, we're screwed. We won't have a candidate to vote for....or even against. All we can do is sit out the general election and hope that there is still some semblance of America left after 4 years. If anybody has a better idea, I'm wide open.

Social issues should be kept in your home and church, not forced upon the rest of America. A president should help direct our economy & protect us from harm by our enemies.Inspire
us to achieve. Divisive rhetoric based upon social issues, has no place in a democracy...

I love this. All you conservatives mourning your lack of a true Republican. Ha! Screw all of ya. You've had 8 years of a "true compassionate conservative" and that has left this country in ruins. You don't get another shot this time around. You get Bob Dole part 2! Nice. We could run an embryo against John "somebody get me ma CANE!" and still win.

Dave - in 4 years from now a return to some semblance of what America once was before dumb shit took office may just be possible. If a Democrat wins that is.

That would be "I'm ready from day one to lead our military, and I don't need lawyers or advisors to tell me what to do" McCain?

"The public needs me and my military experience, there will be more wars" McCain?

"Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomba Iran".

The guy the Navy refused to promote to Admiral and washed out because of past matters of poor temperment, character(adultery, lies to others), and judgement?

Who lost 5 jets in his career? Who mislead people on the nature of his War College thesis? Who has thousands of pages of POW transcripts and hours and hours of propaganda film footage with the Vietnamese and purportedly with copies sent to Putin's KGB? All that archival material that we have the "straight talk" of John McCain alone - that he (bottom 1% of his Academy class) outsmarted the NVA at every turn and all that stuff will have nothing but proof of McCain's brains and heroism on it?

Who doesn't know much about the economy, never cared to or needed to? Heh heh heh? Immigration amnesty? Heh heh heh! Who wants carbon taxes and gasoline taxes of a thousand or so extra per household?

No, unless he has a major senior moment or public meltdown, the media has fluffed up & advanced "their guy" to the Republican nomination - but only used him to present Bob Dole 2.0, ripe for the slaughter, to the Democrats. Worse than 1.0, because this one lacks Doles high intelligence, long Congressional leadership, and the deep trust and respect both Parties held Dole in.

Nah. After the "gifts" Dems gave of bizarre Al and awful Kerry, it looks like it is the Republican's turn to reward the Democrats with a warmonger old man, a dimbulb, with the same "my way or the highway, I know best." fighter jock mentality. In fact, McCain is more "Bush Plus" than Bob Dole 2.0.

No way will a good chunk of the Republican Party vote for him. Nor will his HE SERVED!!! cheerleaders, after the POW-worship euphoria fades and the Obama or Hillary evisceration of the old fool and his "straight talk" proved to be lies, starts.
Romney, Schwarzenegger, Barbour, Perry and others would be wise to keep their distance from the coming McCain fiasco if McCain makes it to the Convention without imploding - and work on rebuilding the Republican Party for 2012.
