Michigan Primary: The Dems

** Exit polls show backlash against Hillary Clinton among black voters... Almost 70% of black voters in the Dem sample chose uncommitted and only 25% chose Clinton. (She's leading overall -- beating uncommitted by, like, 40 points)... Remember: Michigan's Dem primary doesn't matter b/c Clinton's name is the only one on the ballot and there are no delegates, but one can read these numbers as a sign of trouble for her among black voters.

**Fox News asks Dems who'd they vote for if Clinton was on the ballot: Clinton got 48%, Obama got 34%, Edwards got 15%.

**Russert hints that race questions will be asked tonight....

Why is Rangel badgering Obama allowed a free pass on TV circuit? Is it because he is a senior congressman (and an AA)? Is it because he is a friend of HRC and her husband?

I have seen the media treat John Lewis and Sheila Jackson Leigh in a most kind manner.

Why is the older AA generation treated like a powerhouse? Why allow them to hurt Obama? They never won the presidency. He is trying to. Why stop him? How can one be for AA causes and then go around and hurt a promising candidate?

Clinton is NOT the only one on the ballot. Biden is on the ballot, though he's already dropped out. And Kucinich is on the ballot. So much for the liberal media bias, right? The only truly liberal candidate not only cannot debate with the other candidates in Nevada tonight, but he's not even mentioned in the media.

Can someone tell me why Obama isn't on the ballot in Michigan?

Obama and Edwards took their names off the ballot after Michigan moved their primary up. Michigan and Florida are being punished by Dean and the DNC alleging that their delegates will not be counted or seated at the convention.

Um so does this mean she wins Michigan or does it not effect the overall race?

Yes, she wins Michigan but it doesn't really matter. The media won't see it as a victory because she wasn't up against any of the major competitors and the delegates definitely will not be recognized or seated (regardless of what the state party-heads think).

So -- she won't get any substantial momentum from the "win" and she won't get any delegates from it either.

In fact, I'm a little ticked that she kept her name on the ballot when the rest of the competitive democrats agreed to stick with the party they represent and withdraw from the race.

Hillary Clinton will do anything for a win, remember that.

Of course she kept her name on the ballet Kevin...and if I remember correctly it was some lame wonkish reason at the time as to why...perhaps one of the HRCbots could fill us in on that part.

I find it amusing she can only break 50% if there's no one else on the ballot...pretty sad and a certain indicator of national electability.

Vote hope, not fear.

How can we say we live in a country with free elections when the people of Michigan will not even be counted? I don't understand how "we the people" has become "we the red tape".

She ended up beating by 15 points.
