Obama Hits Clinton In SC Response Ad

23 Jan 2008 08:32 pm

Barack: I’m Barack Obama, running for President and I approve this message. Anncr: It’s what’s wrong with politics today. Hillary Clinton will say anything to get elected. Now she’s making false attacks on Barack Obama. The Washington Post says Clinton isn’t telling the truth. Obama “did not say that he liked the ideas of Republicans” In fact, Obama’s led the fight to raise the minimum wage, close corporate tax loopholes and cut taxes for the middle class. But it was Hillary Clinton, in an interview with Tom Brokaw, who quote “paid tribute” to Ronald Reagan’s economic and foreign policy. She championed NAFTA – even though it has cost South Carolina thousands of jobs. And worst of all, it was Hillary Clinton who voted for George Bush’s war in Iraq. Hillary Clinton. She’ll say anything, and change nothing. It’s time to turn the page.

Looks like Obama's finally taking Kerry's advice about fighting back against the lies. It might be too late though.

Only in SC though...they obviously love playing dirty there so HRC can get away with it there. He has to answer, never initiate responses...only there.

I want him to win, but I want our politics purged of this sort of thing. The only way to do that is unelect the partisan hack pols and elect real leaders for our whole country.

"We can no longer afford to build ourselves up by tearing someone else down. We can no longer afford to traffic in lies or fear or hate." Barack Obama

Vote hope, not fear. Vote unite, not divide and conquer.

Being for hope doesn't mean being a patsy.

Obama has said this, most recently in his truly great Ebenezer Baptist Church speech.

I wish he'd do this nationally. I think after South Carolina he needs to start some negative ads against her specifically highlighting the driver's liscens fiasco and the immigration issues she has since I think she's to the right of McCain.

She'll say anything, and change nothing. That is perfect. Obama is honing his pitch: that the Clintons can't build a 'working majority,' can't be 'transformational,' *because* of their truthiness problem.

Who's in the gutter trolling for votes, g. davis and you say its okay because its obama.
And sue: did you read the new york times on sunday? Obama has a 26 year old writing these "truely great" speeches for him, because i guess it gives him more time to be authentic.

He wrote two books himself (which is more than you can say about Hillary) and The Audacity of Hope had much of the same themes as that great speech.

New Radio Ad From Obama - “Hillary Will Say Anything and Change Nothing”

Here’s the link from ABC News, so you can LISTEN to it.

He sticks to the facts. It’s all true, and he delivered the ad in an appropriate tone that is in keeping with his campaign.

Oh, it’s on baby. It’s on.

I'm and Obama guy and I like it. Every word is spot on, I wish he'd run that in CA.

Michael C - point to a single factual inaccuracy in the Obama radio ad. Then, talk about gutter politics. If you can't, then stop with the Clinton-trash Rove-talk already!

On the "say anything" front, Ron Fournier, respected AP writer, has a piece out tonight laying out how Bill Clinton is playing the race card.

I hope others in the media will step up and for the truth instead of being conduits for Clinton lies.

I'm pro-Obama and am generally supportive of this ad. However I wasn't expecting this level of harshness.

I know it will be seen by some portion of people as very contradictory to his message, but for me, you can't say you're standing up for what you believe while giving a pass to the dirtiness being leveled by the Clinton campaign.

I'm pro-Obama, and I love this Ad. When folks lie on you, telling that they lie on you and defending yourself is a positive.

I hate to break it to you folks, but that announcer-guy saying nasty things about Hillary Clinton won't have 10% of the impact of Clinton's ad using Obama's own voice. One ad is attention-catching and memorable, the other is not.

Barack stands atop the south wall of the Alamo.
The Clinton army surrounds the mission. Barack
and the noble band of rebels shouts that though
out-manned and out-gunned they will fight to the last man. The press reports the ensuing carnage
as "One small step for Bill, one huge step for
Hillary"! In their minds, might makes right, and
the divine order of the cosmos must prevail. Many
pundits would have us believe that the few volleys from the upstarts were "inflammatory"
in nature...heroic but futile. VIVA LOS CLINTONISTAS!

Those of you out there that march in step
with Billy Gump and Hilly Gump.....
"Stupid is as stupid does"!

Obama flew to Kenya and campaigned for his cousin, Raila Odinga who has signed a pact with the Islamics there to institute sharia law when he takes power after the current bloody coup that Odinga is masterminding. Odinga lost the recent presidential election so Odinga started a bloody coup to overthrow the democratic elected Kenyan President. Odinga's Muslim goons have burned Christian Kenyans alive in their churches, chopped Christians to death with machetes and axes in their quest to take over Kenya and impose sharia law.The Kenyan President filed a protest with the USA state department saying in effect that Barack Hussein Obama was interfering with Kenyan politics. The Kenyan President also publicly called Barack Hussein Obama a stooge for Obama's support for Odinga. Barack Hussein Obama's Kenyan brother,Abongo "Roy" Obama is a militant Muslim who argues that the black man must "liberate himself from the poisoning influences of European/Western culture.

Sashaqz:

me refrencing the gutter was in response to G. Davis defending Obama when she's spent the last week accusing Obama of being in the gutter.

Two things strike as totally exxagerated here in Obama's ad. and thus say more about obama's weaknesses than anything about Hillary.

Hillary didn't authorize Bush's war: she voted with 70 plus percent of the senate to give him room to rattle a saber and make demands. She stated at the time the need for time for inspections to work and all that: thus this constant oversimplification of what happened at that time is malicious and lacks integrity: he is a man capable of considerable nuance (read his books or see his slimy ill-timed claims about the republicans this past weekend) and that he uses none of that sophistication here to describe Hillary's pre-war vote is slimy and disreputable. I don't like the war but I get that her vote made sense for her and was not a vote for war.
Plus, Kucinich with his defiantly anti-war voting record can easily make the case that Hillary is for the war because she voted to fund it more than once, but Obama cannot make this same case about the war and Hillary because he too has repeatedly voted to fund the war. So in this way too this ad pollutes the truth with bizarre self-serving truth obscuring oversimplification. he says it just to get votes and not to further the truth.
Another lie is when he says that she will say anything: this isn't a fact and this is just an opinion. You may share that opinion but the presidency is more serious a thing than this ridiculas statement. She will not say anything. He merely doesn't like what she says. She paraphrazed his comments about republicans and that is legitimate and fair. He looks ridiculas when paraphrased and that shows he was on thin ice threading his needle with this very dumb attacks on the clinton years.
AND it fits her criticism of him monday night that he frequently tries to claim his comments were misunderstood.
He does not distinguish himself with this horrible ad.
He's in bed with the Hillary and Bill haters and that is a very irrational zone where namecalling seems okay and hate seems normal.
Can't pin hope on hate: he's in bed with the wrong people.

My bad: I meant to say that g. davis has spent two weeks saying the clintons are in the gutter.

Bottom Line:

Like all of you. I know that health care is the most critical, and important issue facing the American people. Now, and in the coming elections. And like the vast majority of the American people, I want HR 676 (Medicare For All) passed into law NOW! "Single payer, Tax Supported, Not For Profit, True Universal Health Care" free for all as a right. Like every other developed country in the world has. See: http://www.house.gov/conyers/news_hr676.htm

“HR 676:
For church goers: less money to insur. companies and more to the church- lots more.
Srs on Medicare: save way over $100/wk. Because no more medigap, long term care & dental insur. needed. No more drug bills.”

But if we the American people fail to bring enough pressure on our current politicians to get HR 676 passed into law before the elections. We will have to identify, and replace all the politicians standing in the way of passage of HR 676. And, I think the best first place to start is with the politicians that blocked the bipartisan SCHIP bills for the kids. Passed by congress twice.

But what about the President. It was Bush after all that blocked the bipartisan SCHIP bill passed by congress to assure more health coverage for Americas kids. So which of the presidential hopefuls do I think will be most supportive of implementing the demand of the majority of the American people to have HR 676 (Medicare For All) passed into law immediately!

We have some very fine presidential candidates who would make good presidents. But none of the top Presidential candidates directly support HR 676, the only true Universal Health Care plan. So I am supporting Hillary Clinton. She is the only top candidate that has ever actually fought for universal health care before.

I have enormous admiration, and respect for Hillary Clinton. She fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds back in 1993. To prevent this disastrous health care crisis that is now devastating the American people, and America. She fought so hard for the American people that she risk almost completely destroying her husbands presidency. I haven't forgotten her heroic effort. If any Presidential hopeful for universal health care deserves my support, it's her.

Also, if we the American people fail to bring enough pressure on our government to give us HR 676 which we all so desperately need NOW! Then we will need the most skilled politician we can get on our side to broker the best health care plan for the American people that we can get. Though it will be less than we need, and less than we deserve. The politician I think to best do this is Hillary Clinton. The Clinton's are probably the most skilled politicians in American history.

The insurance industry, and medical industry that has been ripping you off, and killing you has given Hillary Clinton so much money because they fear her. They have also given Barack Obama so much money because they fear Hillary Clinton. They think they can manipulate Barack Obama against the best interest of the American people better than they can manipulate Hillary Clinton. There is no race issue with Hillary Clinton. The Clinton's are the poster family for how African Americans want white people to be towards African Americans.

As always, African Americans are suffering, and dieing in this health care crisis at a much higher rate than any other group in America. The last time there was any significant drop in the African American death rate was when Bill Clinton was president.

My fellow Americans, you are dieing needlessly at an astounding rate. In higher numbers than any other people in the developed world. Rich, and poor a like. Insured, and uninsured. Men, women, children, and babies. And we the American people must stop it. And fix it NOW! Keep Fighting!!! Never! give up hope. There are millions of lives at stake. Bless you all... You are doing great!
