Romney's Raising Gobs Of Money

25 Jan 2008 04:37 pm

Mitt Romney won't tell the voters of Florida how much money he's contributed from his own bank accounts, but it's clear that he hasn't stopped the inflow of cash from donors.

Over the next four days, Romney holds four high-dollar fundraisers in the tonier precincts of the Sunshine State.

Tonight, he'll ditch his press corps to attend a $2300 a plate fundraiser at the home of the son of Amb. Mel Sembler in Pinnelas Park, near Tampa.

On Sunday, Romney has two $2300-per-person fundraisers, one in Boca and the other in Palm Beach.

And the day of the Florida primary -- Romney will pose for photos with donors exercising their constitutional rights in St. Petersburg.

By no means is he done there: a colleague reports that McCain has four fundraisers scheduled for California before Feb. 5)

"a colleague reports that McCain has four fundraisers"

Romney or Mitt.....not McCain....

Freudian slip...there Marc......

True leanings coming out......

The charges that Mitt is buying the election is one of the 3 or 4 mantras of Mitt's opponents. It doesn't work, as witness the fact that Mitt keeps doing better and better in the polls, delegates, and funds raised from donors. Mitt has raised more money than anybody running for the Republican nomination, and it drives his enemies crazy that people would donate so much money to a wealthy candidate who's willing to self-fund....the reason is that what he's doing is solely for the good of the country, and a lot of Americans have come to believe in him and in what he wants to accomplish for our children, and our children's children. We're willing to share the sacrifice for the good of all.

Finally, an article explaining that Romney is not only capable of using his own money , but has the best organization behind him to and has raised more than any other GOP candidate. Maybe he has what it takes to compete against the Clintonians. He has my support.

Mitt has raised more money than his opponents for a reason--many reasons, in fact, the chief among them being his inestimable value to this country in the office of President, CEO (something we need in the 21st century), and Commander in Chief.

Romney will out fundraise Giuliani and McCain by 2 to 3 times. That clearly puts him in the lead -- especially given the delegate count, the flood of Thompson staffers/lawyers/supporters that have rushed to his camp, the winning debates... Etc, etc.

Vote smart, vote Vitt!!!

"Pinellas" is the correct spelling.

We need a President who can think "outside the box". Which Republican has has more experience solving problems? Which one is more successful in his personal life? Which one has the most self control? Which one has the happiest family? Which one has the most education?

The answer is clear. It is Mitt Romney. We sure don't need Arizona's democrat McCain--he won't even take his own state.

A comment about his religion? Some would like to make an issue about it. For him to have been a Bishop and a Stake President in the Mormon church (in which offices he volunteered his time and talents free), his religion would demand that he believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World, that he be honest, morally upright and follow all the rest of the commandments. Isn't that what you want from a president???

Many of the questions and snide remarks I hear regarding Gov Romney using his own money in this campaign seem to come from a place of envy. It smacks of those baser instincts fueling "class warfare" in the minds of "the political left." To be honest, the Gov builds credibility by using his own fortune and making it the largest contribution by percentage. To NOT use his own wealth when he has such an incredible amount would engender even more sharp criticism from all sides, especially when asking others to contribute. This is a man of integrity who is using his personal blessings and stewardship wisely to pursue a great cause...leadership of America and securing the blessings of liberty in a troubled world. He has my vote.

Mitt's got the dough to go the distance. McCain lacks the energy, vision, (conservative and Republican-based) message, and $ (index for support) to make the long trek.

Some are questioning the relevance of Romney's business experience to the office he seeks.

I sent a rediculous (for me) amount of money to the Romney campaign. First time I have ever donated to a campaign. It just seems IMPORTANT

I donated for the first time ever to a candidate. I donated to Romney. I believe in him and his message. Enough to open my wallet.

If all it takes to be the President is raising the most money, then why don't we just auction off our candidates on ebay to the highest bidder? Do you really want a President who's biggest credentials is how much money they are sitting on?
You folks need to take a REAL CLOSE look at Mel Sembler, one of the main guys raising money for Romney. Do you think that Sembler will expect something in return for his efforts?
To answer that question, just wiki or google [Mel Sembler] then you will see "the rest of the story....."
