What are the Dem numbers, do you know?

Contrary to popular perception it is McCain who is the easiest to beat for Democrats in general election.

McCain has same position as Democrats on most of the high profile popular conservative issues (immigration, campaign finance reform, taxes, torture, closing gauntanamo bay, etc). The only thing that McCain is opposed to Dems is the one which is LEAST popular among people that is, continuation of Iraq war.

Obama McCain Repub. Base
----- ------ -----------

IllegalImmigration: yes yes no

Bush tax cuts: oppose oppose support

campagn-fin reform: support support oppose

ban torture: yes yes no

close gauntanamo: yes yes no

religious right: oppose oppose support

continue Iraq war: no yes yes/no

Conclusion:

McCain is wrong on all the popular conservative issues and he is also wrong on Iraq war as a general election issue!!

Will McCain on republican party be able to run ads on illegal immigration, gauntanamo bay prison, waterboarding, iraq war, etc against a Dem in Fall?? NO WAY!

Either Obama (likable, hopeful, young) or Clinton will crush McCain (old, pro-war) for sure.

McCain is toast in Fall.

Let's face it, Americans aren't going to vote for a warmongering 72 year old cranky curmudgeon that is despised by the right and the left, has more flip flops than Old Navy, and has a giant goiter on his face. The only constituency he has is the Washington Press corps, which makes itself more irrelevant as each day passes.

Three more polls this morning: Strategic Vision shows a slight McCain edge, and ARG has Romney surging but only up 1%. And Datamar is out with a complete outlier that shows Romney up 13%?!

Yes McCain and Obama are basically the same candidate. Both are into hispandering: See Juan Hernandez, or today's San Francisco Gate, where Obama is making an all out attempt to out pander Hillary among Hispanic voters by touting his support for Drivers Licenses for Illegal Aliens.

Should be fun. Lou Dobbs will have a field day with this, especially with Teddy Chappaquiddick Kennedy coming to his rescue today.

What's with the small bump for McCain? I thought his baseless attack on Romney over Iraq would send him crashing down a few points. Is Mitt that much of a repellent?

Where are the numbers for the Democrats?

Delegates or no delegates over a half million Floridians are going to choose who they feel is the best Democrat to run in the general election. So even if they have no delegates, they still have a voice.

What are the saying? Who leads among Democrats?

The great secret of Ronald Reagan that no one talks about is that he knew he was right and he, to a great extent, ignored the bleatings of the New York Times and the Washington Post. He ignored the polls. He knew what had to get done, and he did it.

Liberals hated him for his tactics, as they do Rudy.

But they loved his results, as they do with Rudy's work in NYC.

We need Rudy.

I hope the good people of Florida agree tomorrow.

I love those text-based position charts. As if we can predict the general election by comparing stances on issues alone, and never factoring experience, likability, or articulation into the mix. Not everyone thinks so narrowly, people.

Here's a novel idea: if you want to know who most people will vote for in the general, ask them! No, wait, you don't have to; professional pollsters have already done it. And they all show McCain as the most likely to win in November.

But, of course, this demonstrable fact is inconvenient, so it's much better that we ignore it.

Sheesh.

Smokin' speech by Teddy...!

"But, of course, this demonstrable fact is inconvenient, so it's much better that we ignore it"

Polls ten months out from an event are completely meaningless. If we believed what the polls said ten months ago, Clinton and Guiliani would already be the nominees.

"Polls ten months out from an event are completely meaningless. If we believed what the polls said ten months ago, Clinton and Guiliani would already be the nominees."

So haphazard (and factually inaccurate, to boot) textual charts are a better indicator? That, you might notice, was the original point of contention.

We can't take polling as gospel, but you're overstating your case when you say they are "completely meaningless." Regardless, they're far and away the best indication we have, and it indicates that McCain is the only Republican who matches up well in November.

Certainly better than the pseudo-logic McCain bashers try to use to sell the idea that he's unelectable.

Sadly, our former POW hero is stooping to unbelievable new lows. And voting for him will ultimately be a vote for Billary Clinton(s).

Why? Because he would be the oldest president — and he is out of money — and he is far too liberal to get beyond Florida with real GOP voters elsewhere — AND because he vigorously promoted AMNESTY, OPPOSED the Bush tax cuts, and sided with liberals in Congress whenever he thought it suited him politically!

McCain won’t admit to being liberal — but I guarantee you he is the polar opposite of conservative. If you can’t vote for the real economic genius, Romney, then don’t — but don’t vote for McCain, who has taken to lying through his ’straight talk’ teeth!! None of his recent allegations vs. his opponents are truthful. It is SO sad to see a Vietnam war hero debase himself to these low levels. Whoever is advising his campaign should be fired now — and given lessons in party loyalty AND basic economics.

I give up. The crazies always take over the comment sections, and they do it by copying and pasting all the same anti-McCain stuff over and over again. There's nary a salient point or reasonable discussion to be found.

They can have it. Before long, they'll all just be talking to themselves.

I can't help but be taken back by McCain's polls, why oh why is he even in the POLLS? He just lied to Tim Russert in front of the whole nation last night. I'm just puzzled by this.
Go Mitt!!

answer to why mccain is the best choice. first off he is conserative the big one for republicans has always been foreign policy, secondly he is pro life those two will out trump all the others mentioned here . the argument that he is like hillary on many issues and because of that dems will vote for her not him is leaving one important factor out, he will get the independants the ones that decide elections ,the reason simple half of america hate hillary! if one has to choose between two people the same on issues they will pick the one they like not hate . the only chance if mccain wins the nomination for dems is Obama. hillary has no chance at all too too too many negatives to win! go obama go mccain!
