It will be interesting to see whether Republican candidates will publicly disagree with President Bush if there are items in his stimulus package that they object to… any direct government transfers to individuals, for example.

Romney will support Bush because Bush supports Romney.
Vin Weber was a top Bush Advisor in 2000, now doing the same work for Romney.
Warren Tompkins, acolyte of the late-but-not-forgotten Lee Atwater, was Bush's man in SC, now Tompkins is Romney's man in SC.
Jeb Bush, Jr., Jeb's youngest, works on the Romney for President/Florida campaign.
Romney is running for Bush's third term. The GOP Establishment is looking strong going into the convention.

There will be a lot of horse trading going on to make sure that everyone's favorite constituency gets paid. I don't expect the stimulus to have much relationship to economic principles.
