Conservatives Coalescing Around McCain

21 Feb 2008 10:23 am

The Times story may have succeeded in accomplishing what politics itself could not: unifying the conservative base around McCain by way of their visceral disgust with the New York Times and its lib-ber-ral politics.

Check out this sampling of reactions from conservatives.

The American Spectator | The National Review | Commentary | Powerline | Captain Ed

More important will be the reactions of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham.

Update: Politico gets an e-mail from Limbaugh:

The story is not the story. The story is the Drive By media turning on its favorite maverick and trying to take him out. The media picked the GOP's candidate, the NYT endorsed him while they sat on this story, and is now, with utter predictability, trying to destroy him.”

Rush's reaction is the same one I had last night when I heard this story on the news. They don't call it the New York Slime for nothing.

The fact that the reporters who pushed this nonsense are in bunker mode is very telling. They know this is a smear job that can't stand up to scrutiny or else they would be out hyping this "blockbuster".

Patrick Hynes emailed Rutenberg to ask him on his show to discuss the story. He declined and said that nobody from the NYT would be discussing the story. What a joke these people are.

It also appears that the McCain campaign was ready and waiting for this, and are now sucessfully spinning it in their favor. Good for them.

The maggots at the NYT have ot be the stupidest group of liberals ever assembled in one spot, and that's saying something.

The only thing wrong with what the Times did is that it gave every right-wing nutjob who didn't want to support McCain a perfect excuse to do just that. And they wanted an excuse to get back to the only thing they like doing more than bashing moderate Republicans - bashing Democrats.

What about the Dec 20, article in the Drudge Report or is he exempt because of right-wing predilections?

Ooooorah! Rally round the wagon folks, it is just beginning. This could be fun!
