This is hippy, dippy, and catchy... and you can't imagine a song being written about Hillary Clinton like this, can you?

I was seriously moved by this. The Obama campaign likes it so much they put it up on their home page at some point yesterday. I'd be tempted to cut it down to a minute or two and use it as a TV ad.

"We have been warned against offering the people of this nation false hopes.

But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope."

Yes he can.

Yeah, it's amazing. And it's definitely gone viral. I've seen it everywhere, and sent it to everyone I know.

Obama benefits a great deal from this kind of organic support. It's a moving video, produced independently of the campaign, giving them free advertising...but also, it's far more effective than a usual ad, and really fits Obama's narrative about a movement.

I think this could help pump up youth turnout on Tuesday if it is going viral as some suggest.

Marc, there most certainly is a video that takes Hillary's own words and creates a work of art around those words. So don't sell Hillary short. Here's the link:

The section to use for the ad John wants should include the lines CG4ET quotes above. Wow.

I was also moved by this video - and I'm not one who is generally impressed with celebrities mixed with politics.

I also loved this video... No, you can't imagine something like this being written about Hillary.

It helps, of course, that the video is using footage from one of Obama's greatest speeches, his so-called concession speech following his 3 point loss to HRC in NH.

It was in the watching of that speech where I became an Obama supporter. It moved me beyond words.

It's a little too earnest and treacly for my taste, but I can see how it can affect people. I would cut it down to about 1 minute. It goes on and on.

Just as Obama is the black candidate who transcends race, he's the liberal candidate who transcends liberalism. His speeches are so inspiring (and tear-wrenching) that paradoxically some "progressives" or "liberals" or whatever we call ourselves these days after 40 years of assault on "liberalism" (a word defined almost entirely by the right with scant regard to what liberals actually believe or advocate) miss the fact that his entire campaign is about reinvigorating or reinventing the liberal brand. Thus, Jon Stewart can run a clip of Ted's endorsement and say "Wait a minute, was I just inspired by Ted Kennedy?" Or, we can watch a video with Hollywood production values and Hollywood stars, surely some of the most maligned liberals extant today, and be moved to tears. Steve Allen said it best - this could be the start of something big.

I found the video moving. Can someone provide a list of who all the people in it are?

There were several things about this that make it very effective.

1. I did not know most of the people in it. Only a few are really bold face type ones. They may be celebrities, but they are not the ones that annoy you or who are always out front. No Babs Streisand or Tim Robbins or Brad Pitt. I think having much lower key and/or less familiar people make them seem more like average people.

2. Obama's speech is the backdrop, so his words are what are meaningful, not what the celebrities are saying.

3. It is not a campaign organized effort.

4. The way it has been released -- moving through email and word of mouth is the way to generate excitement.

5. For those young and disaffected people out there who really want change, music and movement are able to inspire. Look at the 60s and the way it was able to bring people out. I think this could really help turnout on tues.

I'm already an Obama supporter (volunteering here in NYC), so I'm obviously biased, but . . .

Holy spit, that's an effective piece of viral marketing! Yowza!

To heck with imagining Sen. Clinton having a video like that - can anyone possibly think of McCain supporters pulling off something even close to this?!?

I also found the video quite moving, which is surprising because I'm not a fan of most of the people in the video, and I usually don't care about celebrities' political inclinations.

The celebrities in the video are: Scarlett Johansson, Tatyana Ali, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Adam Rodriquez, Amber Valetta and Nick Cannon.

And Nicole Sherzinger

And Ed Kowalczyk, lead singer of Live.

I loved it. I couldn't stop playing it. It was wonderful.

Aisha Tyler and Hill Harper (former classmate of Obama's at Harvard Law School) was in it too.

No way can Hillary supporters match anything like this!!! I cried, then I called all four of my teen age children in to see it. I have been watching Barack for a while but this really something, HE is really something. I may add I'm a 50 year old white republican woman.

Must add...Yes we can!!

RaymondA, best rebuttal ever!

It prompted me to send this letter to my friends:

Friends:

You are all likely aware of my deep interest in politics and the attention I've paid to the issues over the years.

In this presidential election I have supported Dennis Kucinich for his clear advocacy of peace and single payer health insurance reform. I have supported John Edwards for his advocacy of issues related to poverty and class and for his committment to fighting global warming.

And now, we are left with two candidates, both of whom have failed so far to advocate as fiercely as I would like for the issues of greatest importance to me but either of whom are on the issues infinitely better than what we have.

So how do I choose? There are many things which are required in order to make meaningful change. For me, I am convinced that the ability to lead and produce change requires, more than anything, the ability to inspire. It was that aspect of Lincoln, Rosevelt, and Kennedy which leave them so well remembered in our country.

Watch this video link: http://www.dipdive.com. Inspiration is why I am voting for Obama.

Peace,

Aaron

AND

VOTE!!!

I just posted this video as well! You raise a great point, and NO I can't see an inspiration heart-felt video or even thought about Hilary coming to mind.

One of great piece of work. I was crying and didn't know why. It was very moving.
Also not mentioned was John Legend and Common and the producer Will I am from Black Eyed Pea.

Obama for President!!!

Also in the video, very briefly, is Harold Perrineau Jr. - Michael from TV's _Lost_. (Also Mercutio from Baz Luhrman's _Romeo and Juliet_.)

This is a monster of a campaign ad produced independently and beautifully rendered. I have to say (shallow as it is) that I was going to vote for him anyway, but seeing so many people that I respect in this video kind of confirmed it for me. So I guess it worked.

It's the most powerful film I've seen since "Triumph of the Will."
