Obama Leads In Wisconsin

19 Feb 2008 09:00 pm

So now that the polls in Wisconsin are closed, I can say that the exit polls are suggesting that Barack Obama will win, big.

But the networks aren't able to call this yet.

The exit polls suggest that Obama won men by nearly 25 points and tied among women. Independents chose Obama, while Democrats were split in their choice. Obama won among those with college degrees; Clinton and Obama tied among those without college degrees. Obama won strongly among wealthier voters and the candidates split among those earning less than $50K. Late deciders went for Obama.

Exit polls are exit polls. I want real results, dammit. That being said, I hope the exit polls pan out!! Go Obama!

Late deciders went for Obama - if that holds true, hopefully the Clintons will see that negative and false attacks don't work. Even my mother, who is a die-hard Clinton supporter and loves to twist the knife with anything negative about Obama said about the speech "scandal" -- Oh, who cares??

And OBAMA is PROJECTED the WINNER!!

HRC live at Youngstown:NO mention of Wisconsin! Denial is not just a river in Egypt! Go Obama!

Not that you'll ever read this, but let me ask you, Marc: what's the deal with the condescending "I can say the exits blah blah blah"? Is this you being paternalistic, or are you contractually obligated to keep certain numbers under wraps? The former is rather insulting to your readership (which, as numerous comment threads evidence, is somewhat better informed than you are), and the latter could be better conveyed.

Hey, this is a little off topic, but here's a wonderful Obama site: http://obamawill.com

Enjoy!

As I mentioned in the Yglesias blog, the demographics haven't changed.

College students (18-24 year olds) were 11% of the electorate. Republicans and Independents were 35%.

Hillary won white Democrats--although by a smaller margin than usual, but that's probably the additional group of college students.

So it's not all that much better than usual.
