Why McCain Wasn't Booed Too Loudly...

07 Feb 2008 03:54 pm

(a) Mitt Romney's supporters have largely left; thanks to McCain dep. pol. dir John Yob, McCain supporters arrived early and took their seats in the ballroom here, thus ensuring huge cheers.

(b) CPAC attendees were encouraged to be polite by organizers, although there was NO specific injunction against booing, according to CPAC spokesman Ian Walters.

Hello, Marc-

Per item (b)-

I would hope that there would not be a need for a "specific injunction against booing. I actually find it kind of appalling that NOT booing a speaker - let alone a presidential candidate - wouldn't be automatically encompassed, in an "encouragement to be polite".

I understand cheers and boos at political rallies, but this is taking place in a ballroom at a Washington hotel, and I'm encouraged to hear that the appropriate decorum and courtesy was observed...

encouraging them not to boo? What's next..an encouragement to support..maybe like "Heil Hitler" ?
