Bloomberg Introduces Obama

Just caught this entry on New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg's schedule:

Intriguing...probably means nothing, but then again, I'd have a hard time thinking that Bloomberg would do an introduction for Clinton.

An Obama/Bloomberg ticket is rather unlikely, though not out of the question. We should remember that Bloomberg was a lifelong Democrat before switching to the Republican party 7 years ago just so he could win the mayoral race. And of course he left the Republican party last year to become an independent. So it would certainly play well to Obama's "change" and "unity" and "outside the beltway" themes. Not to mention solving his (non-existent) "Jewish problem".

On the other hand, I doubt that a 5'6" New York City Jewish mayor would add much of value to Obama's efforts to win southern and midwest states in the general election.

Oh... he may be spoken for..... by Hillbilly.

What is significant is that this shows Obama's ability to attract a wide variety of support, from independents, Republicans, the business community, etc.

In this election Obama is unique in his ability to reach out and attract such a wide spectrum of support.
