HRC Gets A Boost From Richardson

04 Mar 2008 07:36 pm

Per Howard Fineman on MSNBC, Bill Richardson is telling advisers that should Hillary Clinton win Ohio and Texas, the Democratic race is "wide open." Should Barack Obama win, "it's over."

Interesting, that's a change from what he said this weekend (that whoever is ahead in the delegate count tomorrow should be the winner).

Not if she loses the pledged delegate number in either of those states. That being said, she's not getting out. She's winning Ohio tonight (and probably Texas) by small margins. Rhode Island is proving to be quite fascinating. No one predicted that one would be a toss up.

Why do reporters keep asking me questions? I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about!

Who to believe? Richardson himself of Fineman reporting what some anonymous told him about what Richardson said in private.

Of course, Richardson is silent on what he'll do in the likely scenario that HRC wins Ohio, Obama wins TX.

These guys are such weasels ... please let it be over soon!

He's smoking crack if narrow wins in Ohio and Texas count as "wide open"

Bill Richardson is out of his mind.

Richardson seems like more of a peyote smoker to me.

Richardon is hedging so hard he is going to end up alienating everybody.
Anything for a bit of attention I suppose.

What great insight from Richardson. Next thing you'll know, he'll tell you the sky is blue.

Well, gee, this statement is completely true for certain values of "wide open".

alison already made the key point (twice!).

The spoof Bill Richardson raises an important question, but I think there is a real answer: Richardson has demonstrated negligible ability to sway voters, and his political acumen is lacking, but he is a near-perfect reflection of the beige nonentities among the superdelegates.

On its face, this makes no sense whatsoever. It would be one thing if Richardson's weekend quotes had been on the fence about the pledged delegate count, but this is a direct contradition of his statements.

Makes you wonder which "advisers" were the source...

If Fineman is right about this, it would strongly suggest that Bill Clinton called Richardson after Richardson's appearance on Face the Nation -- and that Richardson really is in the Clintons' leash.

I hope Fineman's account proves untrue.

Just as I suspected. All this talk about massive "pressure" for Hillary to quit the race will simply evaporate if she performs well tonight.

This mess needs to wrap up tonight. Hillary's lost her damned mind and cheerleaded for McCain on record -- even though he completely abandoned women's reproductive rights.

Lost for freaken mind.

I am a seventy year old who has never voted republican. But Hillary has convinced me that if it comes down to her and McCain for president I would be foolish not to vote for the candidate with the most senatorial experience. That is what she is telling me isn't it?????

vindictine,

We certainly share that view. At the least, John McCain is a hero proven in combat and a good man who has truly shown an ability to work across the aisle. If I have to change the bumper sticker on the back of my car, it will indeed be for him - warts and all.

As a 60 year old veteran there is no way I can vote for someone with a middle name like Sydney.

I tend to believe what Richardson said on Sunday, that whoever leads in pledged delegates after Tuesday, should be and would be the nominee and the party should unite around that person. I don't believe Howard Fineman.

Bill Richardson, John Edwards: Two people that would have made great VP but have lost credability because they have proven they are only out for themselves and the winner.

I am so disappointed with politics, we need CHANGE. I will fight and spend any money I can to get Obama in the White House and fight with all my might for what I believe in.

Bill, John, what is it you REALLY believe in?????
