Kristol Admits Error

17 Mar 2008 01:54 pm

This paragraph now runs at the top of Bill Kristol's column today:

In this column, I cite a report that Sen. Obama had attended services at Trinity Church on July 22, 2007. The Obama campaign has provided information showing that Senator Obama did not attend Trinity that day. I regret the error.

Great job Ambinder. Nice to see there are great journalists out there. Seems like Nytimes is ruling the day they hard that Neo-com frontman Kristol.

If a printed story were retracted, would it be removed from the website? Does anyone know the protocol on this?

I look forward to Kristol's apology in bold letters tomorrow. This tells you that the "news" out there may not be.. Good work Marc..

Seems to me that the whole story should have been pulled as the whole basis for the article is an erroneous report to begin with.

I, along with a GROWING PERCENTAGE OF THE POPULATION, now think that IT IS AT LEAST AS LIKELY THAT OBAMA IS LYING, as that Kristol made a mistake.

The chronic, ongoing, Deceit, deliberate Misdirection, and straightout LIES DISBURSED BY THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN have become so frequent and overwhelming, that is what now DEFINES THE CAMPAIGN AND THE CANDIDATE.

"If a printed story were retracted, would it be removed from the website? Does anyone know the protocol on this?"

No idea. A search for articles by "Jayson Blair" might bring the answer though ;-)

Yes, Robert, you are correct. When Bill Kristol lies, it is only further proof that Obama is a liar.

God, don't you love being at war with Eurasia, er, Eastasia?

Haven't anyone noticed that three separate polls now have Obama numbers dropping both in head-to-head match-ups with McCain relative to Clinton-McCain, and in the primary ballot against Clinton. The Gallup Daily Tracking poll, the USA TODAY/GALLUP survey (which is separate) and the Rasmussen daily numbers all show the same trend over the past few days. Rasmussen had Obama's favorable rating dropping from a high of 56% after Wisconsin, to 51% last week, to 47% now.

Clinton's numbers have been stable.

LA Times also quoted the Newsmax source.

It is important to remember that Mr. Kristol's piece was an editorial and not a new article. Thus, it is an opinion piece that is meant to be convincing rather than to relay factual information. So, since this is only an opinion piece, there is no need for it to be retracted.

Because one of the facts used by Kristol has turned out to be false his argument is less persuasive. However, this does not negate his entire argument, it only does so to the extent that his argument relied on this particular piece of information.

Kristol's next print column needs to be nothing but the correction and apology, with no fee forthcoming to Phone-Em-In Bill.

+clap+.....+clap+.....+clap+

Please allow me to buy you a beer if you're ever in Chicago.

A little joke for you, via TNR:

A Harvard graduate walks into a room, looks at the furniture, and says, "Someday, I will own all this."

A Princeton grad walks into a room, looks at the furniture, and says, "Someday, I will inherit this."

A Chicago grad walks into a room, looks at the furniture, and says, "Wow, this furniture's ugly, and besides, it's arranged all wrong."

Kristol is a fool who should not be allowed on the pages of the NYT. One good thing about this election: it will make the fools like Kristol, Rush, Hannity etc be exposed for what they are.

These people are a dying breed. Their influence over the Republican party is even waning, as evidenced by McCain's nomination.

They offer nothing but hate; when was the last time you heard anything positive or constructive from them? Ironically, they idolize Reagan but are the opposite of him in terms of tone and attitude.

And they are losing; they have lost the battle on issues like global warming, etc.

One more reason to vote for Obama: he hastens the day when these people and their politics of hate become irrelevant.

Since when is the campaign of Obama a source that is credible? I believe Obama was at that service. Since he can't find any of his schedules, notes and earmarks form Illinois why would we believe his campaign. Aren't they the same 'folks' who gavae us the last 3 versions of the Rezko story?
They are the same 'folks' who wrote and rewrote the speech for Patrik Deval and Barak Obama?
I don't believe them for one second.
